Also as a Varsity Card holder, I get special invitations to private parties with free access and even free drinks! If you play on a league, you receive 10% off your individual team fee. The card can also be used at various venues for no line/no cover access and 10 - 20 % discounts on foods and products. Additionally, the card already comes equipped with $25 from BuyYourFriendADrink.com to use at participating bars! The best part is that I only have to carry one card to get all these discounts and special access, all the while doubling as my BYFAD card. Just a Note: SBS also offers a JV card as well with similar discounts and access.

I've been going to Sycamore since I first discovered it in 2014. Back then, it was on my way home…read morefrom work, and I'd stop in a couple times a month--sometimes more. Post-COVID, life looks a little different. I've changed jobs and moved to another town, so it's no longer the easy drop-in it once was. Still, I make a point to come back at least every few months. What hasn't changed is the consistency. This remains one of the most reliably excellent restaurants in the Boston area, and still one of my all-time top five--while others that once held that spot haven't quite held up. One thing has changed, though: the Ghost of Mary. Scotty, the former bar manager, created what's still my favorite cocktail of all time. When he left, the drink left with him (by mutual agreement), and while he generously shared the recipe with me, I've never quite managed to recreate it at home. It was clearly meant to be made by the expert. That said, Sycamore hasn't missed a beat. The space is still as comfortable and quirky as ever, the food remains consistently excellent, and the current bar program is in very capable hands. The cocktails are thoughtful and well-executed--just maybe don't remind me about the one I'm missing

Sycamore is SPECTACULAR!!!…read more Newton centre is probably one of my favorite cities for date night and afternoon shopping. They have some great places to shop and dine and Sycamore is one of them. We have been here multiple times and everytime is better than the last. From the Managers greeting to the service, and atomosphere, Sycamore sure knows how to make customers feel seen and heard and their bellies happy :) We came here after attending a wine tasting not far from here and were able to grab some bar seats. They have a great cocktail and wine list; I always have a hard time choosing just one. I went with a vodka drink called Nothing Rhymes Orange and my husband had a beer. Since we were not that hungry he ordered the Chorizo Croquettas and I had my favorite salad in the world (not kidding) their Kale Salad. Let me just tell you 1. if you don't like kale, you will love this salad. Just the way they make it and the flavors/crunch will make your mouth water 2. you will eat the whole thing. 3. trust me. If there is one app that you need to order its the chorizo croquettas, OMG. They are like little small drops of heaven and there are only 3 so if you plan to share I would recommend ordering more than just one. For dessert, we ordered an Espresso Martini. The only thing that was missing is the coffee beans but still good. Thanks Sycamore for another fabulous dinner and evening. Thanks Kale Salad for being the best ever. I know I will be back for another one sometime soon. Cheers~

This time we were ravenous, having spent 12 hours carrying heavy boxes and furniture all day, so primed for a good meal. The Rouleaux egg rolls were superb and the steamed shrimp & crab dumplings outstanding, both accompanied by simple but distinct sauces that really made them pop. Our entrees were equally impressive. The crispy fried catfish (Trey Tuk Peng Pah) and seafood noodles (Crevettes, Moules, Champignon Et Pates De Riz Au Gingembre) are my favorites. Such fresh ingredients combined with striking flavors really made it enjoyable. Our server was engaging and had very helpful insights as well.

The reviews looked good and I was excited to try their unique menu... well, let's just say we were very disappointed. First of all the prices are very expensive. I know this is Boston, but $17 for a cocktail is ridiculous! Our server was lovely, he was very kind and had a kind spirit. I was excited to try the "Rouleaux" since they remind me of the eggrolls, my mother learned from her Vietnamese mother-in-law. It was very crispy, which unfortunately is the only good thing I can say about it. The flavor was so off. It's almost as if the ingredients in the Rouleaux were loudly competing for my attention simultaneously! It didn't really melt in your mouth either, it just felt heavy. The other appetizer we ordered was called Dumplings croustillants au poet epics. This was actually worse than first appetizer. I like lemongrass, but MAN the lemongrass was so overpowering. I started to wonder... "is this how it's always made"?! I'm not even exaggerating. Overall, the atmosphere was nice - definitely pricey, and the food isn't worth the hype. Till next eats, SJ

Food is always on point and this is the one place I would break my food habit rules for. Every dish was divine from starter to finish. I think we had someone different serving us after a couple of courses, I loved seeing the same servers there year after year which means they treat staff well - huge plus in my book. Definitely will put this on our rotation for girl's night out. In case you've never seen baby seagulls before, here's a selfie with one! I took it right before I walked to the restaurant

The golden beets salad was honestly the best thing we ordered. Super fresh, well-balanced, and the flavors just worked. If you come here, I'd definitely recommend getting it. We also got the Wagyu beef tartare, which was solid. No complaints, but it also wasn't one of those dishes that makes you think about it days later. The duck breast was the biggest letdown. It was cooked properly, but the meat itself was tougher than I expected. For a restaurant at this price point, I was hoping it'd be a lot more tender. Even the bread service was disappointing. The bread was dry and chewy instead of warm and fluffy. The butter came out rock hard, so it was basically impossible to spread, and the olive oil tasted a little off. Not exactly the first impression you want. We also tried the Corsica Spritz and Les Épices Tonic mocktails. Honestly... just skip them. They were expensive for what they were and tasted pretty underwhelming. I've had much better NA drinks at restaurants that weren't trying nearly as hard. Overall, I don't regret coming because the ambiance is fantastic, but I also don't feel like I got my money's worth. If the prices were 20-30% lower, I'd probably be a lot more forgiving. As it stands, it's a good experience, but there are better places in Boston at this price point.
