They tell you that same crap that SAL does, we will sell the car within 2 weeks. I say bull crap. My car was listed for 4 months and I had 4 crazy people contact me. 2 never returned my call after they inquired urgently. 1 decided she didn't want to pay to move the car to her state (DONT INQUIRE ABOUT CARS IN OTHER STATES THEN) and the last just verbally threatened me so I had to remove my listing and I decided to keep the car because this is so not worth it. Based on other reviews, I might be lucky, but here is my review. I checked leasetrader to have a car for only 1 year. I was disappointed to see that I had to pay $39 to contact the sellers. I did it because I saw great deals on the website. I pickup 5 cars, mainly BMW, for less than a year and around Miami. I contacted the 5. Only 3 answered. I decided to go for a 2013 BMW 328i Grey will 22,000 miles for $330. A good deal because the seller placed an incentive of $650. It took me one week to get him and start the lease transfer to block the car. I paid $125 of commission to leasetrader which is fair from my point of view. Then I ordered on my side a car inspection to ensure the car was ok. It took another week. Then I completed the credit application with BMW and paid $550 to transfer the car. It took almost 1 month and half. Not because of Leasetrader but because of the seller who takes his time. I finally got the car and I'm happy. Nothing to complain. No hidden fee on my side. Awful. Do not give them your CC information. You just lost a good customer and hopefully many more who see this! I'm a buyer, and leasetrader charged me for a car that I didn't transfer through them! I sent a few messages to sellers, one responded back and wouldn't move on the price and I declined his offer. I saw the same car listed for a better deal on a swapalease, and then locked in the deal and proceeded with the transfer there. Leasetrader claims that because I sent a message to that seller, they are entitled to $249! I didn't do a transfer through them and I have paperwork and documentation to prove it! They are crooks. I haven't tried, but hopefully someone goes after this shady and slimy company with an attorney. Thanks to the customer rep who I spoke to on 3/10/14... I hope you guys lose a lot more than the $249 you stole from me! This purpose of this post is express my distaste for the services provided by LeaseTrader.com. LeaseTrader.com is nothing more than VERY expensive gimmick. The lure in to the notion that they "handle" the lease assumption process when all they do is charge outrageous fees for nothing. Now one would expect that with such fees would come some perks... this could not be further from the truth. The only thing that LeaseTrader.com does is makes an easier process overly complicated while collecting huge fees. I also forgotten to mention that they require you to be pre-approved with them which means they collecting all of your personal information and do a credit check. This down right comical because they do not do the actual approval rather the institution that is holding the lease does the approval. All they are doing is collecting your information and selling it for advertising and informational purposes. Do not agree with the previous reviewer at all - must be employed or friend of Leasetrader. They do absolutely nothing - once the seller contacts his leasing company and establishes the contact between leasing company and buyer - Leasetrader is totally out of the picture. You don't hear anything from them until they charge your credit card for the $249 commission (didn't read the fine print on 3rd page of T&C)! Between membership fees, credit app and transfer fees with Leasing company , Leasetrader commissions and DMV fees you are looking at $1,000 out of pocket when assuming a lease. I have done it a few times looking for cars that had low milage or sellers that offered larger incentives. Lease trader provides zero assistance in the process - I actually agree with some of the previous reviewers that they keep cars on their site so you sign up - once you paid for your membership these cars are not available - that is a scam! read more

I guess I have to give it one star? This is worst "company" I have ever dealt with. A friend suggested I try it as our family needed a car for less than 18 months - didn't really matter what kind of car. I went on paid the membership fee and started "shopping". The next day the site "was down for maintenance" so I couldn't contact anybody. Again the next day the site was down for maintenance but I had agreed to assume the lease of a car I saw the first day. I tried calling and emailing LeaseTrader - no response. Finally after a couple of days the site appeared to be working again. The other party and I tried to start the lease assumption process again but it was requiring I pay a membership again - stupid me I tried and tried to get the assumption process started via LeaseTrader. At this point I felt sorry for the guy's car I was trying to assume the lease but said I can't deal with this - I went to a local auto dealership and got a car. Finally received a call back for LeaseTrader, they apologized, saw all the charges and said they reverse all of them and the "credit report they pulled was only a soft pull don't worry about it". It's four days since LeaseTrader said they would reverse all charges - guess what they haven't and they keep billing new charges just today! I am on hold with the "white collar crime division" of the Hallandale Police Department - I'll keep you updated! STAY AWAY! **UPDATE** the power of YELP?? Rec'd a call from Jonathan at LeaseTrader (800)770-0207 very nice gentleman and he admitted they did have site issues during this period and will be refunding my money w/in 48 hours. I am stunned there is not an already existing thread on yelp for such a large company so much so that I called lease trader to make sure they are indeed based out of Hallandale and I was told yes. For ultimate clarity, I am writing in today in reference to www.leasetrader.com, the company you work with online to get rid of your leased vehicle. When I joined lease trader I was encouraged by the company that due to my extremely low miles and new tires, etc. that the sale should go quickly. Turned out it did not. About 3 weeks in and no bites I bought the extra plan to "feature" your vehicle. This garnered little results as well until finally about 2.5 months after start, someone came through. I renewed this option again (I believe it is a 10 day period you buy) until I got the buyer. I was relieved when I got someone but that relief was short lived. Lease Trader misleads you as far as to how long it takes to find a buyer and perhaps more importantly how long it takes once you get the buyer. They take a VERY long time to send you the final paperwork. I believe I was told 7-10 days. And they sent it to the wrong address. I'd taken the time to call to expressly make sure they sent it to the right address and the person on the phone apparently changed my billing to my shipping and my shipping to my billing. So that took the 7-10 days to 14-20. When you are paying a monthly lease payment and insurance payment 20 days to wait for paperwork hurts. And then you send the paperwork to the person buying and then he sends it to Lease Trader who then takes another length of time to process it and send it to the car company for them to process it. In other words you are talking a lot of time. For the buyer it turned out even worse than it did for me. The buyer had to wait an additional 2 months after paying to get the car. At least. After about 6 weeks we stopped being in contact as there was nothing else I could do. I felt really badly for him as the car had 11 months on it when he opted to take it over and he was left with 8 (possibly 7) or so by the time he got it. The car was for his daughter who needed it a very specific amount of months due to school. The final straw that that caused me to write this review is after the transfer was finally complete, $500 or so later after the listing fee, the closing fee and the two fees I paid for the car to be featured (and mind you I was paying $325/month and $100/month insurance while this process was going on), I needed to know what to do with my plates. It was not an obvious answer in that I bought the car in California and sold it in New York where I now live. I called and left a message for my rep. He did not return the call. I called again this time talking to someone who had no idea what was what. She obviously was not someone who handled clients. She sounded more like a receptionist. I told her I needed to talk to someone about how this works and she said no one could talk to me but she would find out the answer. She put me on hold twice to find the answer each time coming back saying she still did not know. Finally she said she would have someone call me back with the answer. No one did. I emailed one more time with my question and this time I received a form letter stating general information about DMV's but not remotely answering my question. I got the feeling the first time I called that now that the transfer was done and there was no more money coming from me they chose not to deal with me. When paying a service $500 to walk you through the process of transferring a vehicle it seems they should be able to provide me the information as to which state I should return the plates. As most know, calling or going to the DMV can be a whole day affair which is in large part why people opt for a company on the outside to help them in the first place. It has been a couple months and they never got back to me. Again I am stunned there is not even one review on yelp. I encourage people to write their reviews should they choose to go with Lease Trader. I suspect the only way LT is going to be more interested in giving value to their customers is if people start to speak up on the web. read more

I seldom write reviews but had no problem with this company. They called regularly to make sure everything was going well. The process was quick (2 weeks) and went very smoothly. I have great credit so it was not an issue but if it was it would not be the companies fault. I am pleased with the process and felt the company went beyond what they needed to (sometimes I wondered why they called to check on the progress so much). If you have good credit and are working with an honest seller I think it is an easy process. Would highly recommend them. read more

AVOID doing a lease takeover at all costs! I assumed the lease on a car through LeaseTrader in 2019 and it has been a disaster every single step of the way. First of all, the lease transfer took MONTHS during which time I received no information or updates for weeks at a time and no guidance on how the process would unfold. Toward the end of the process I was delayed by 2 additional weeks as I could not pick up the car without a registration in my name - which I could not get from the DMV without the lease in my name - which I could not get without insurance on the car - which I could not get before having a registration in my name. See the problem? Absolutely ridiculous. After finally navigating this nonsense (with no help from the company) I picked up the car. A few weeks later, the leasing company (Ally) sends me a bill for an unpaid month of the lease issued to the previous owner. A few months later they send me a $900 tax bill also issued to the previous owner. And I am held responsible for paying both. So keep in mind what LeaseTrader does not publicize -- you are on the hook for EVERYTHING after the transaction is completed. So basically this lease will cost me SIGNIFICANTLY MORE than any other option I could have possible pursued. Never, ever using LeaseTrader again. read more

0 stars THIS WEBSITE IS A SCAM Listed my car using the Help of Jonathan Levine-cost $100.00 to post the add & was told it would be featured on the homepage, no problem car would go in weeks. Could not find the car on the homepage & had to search a specific car in a specific area to even get the ad to appear in a sea of many others. I tried calling 3 times over the course of 3 weeks leaving messages that were never returned. Upon calling the 4th time I reached a customer service rep & was clearly unhappy with the service I had been provided, he promised a full refund and for the car to be taken off the website. He even told me the money would be returned to my bank account within 7 days. Well needless to say the car was taken off the website but I was never issued a refund and upon calling back and being bounced around from marketing persons to customer service personal over 4 times I was not only told there was no refund but I was also called a liar. They "had no record" of previous calls or voicemails (except the one to cancel the ad) and could not refund because it was an "advertising cost" Further more the call to cancel the ad was recorded & I was told was reviewed but there was no promise of a refund....? Not only was the marketing department Jonathan Levine in particular and the customer service personal not in the least bit helpful but they were beyond rude-siting I had not logged into my account in weeks so I was lying about the information I was giving, they even went so far to hang up on me in the end! Please save yourself the hassle and $100-this company is a scam and should be shut down! I ended up using Car Match USA to get rid of my lease and they were more than helpful and accommodating-my car was listed for 2 weeks before someone took it over! Agree with other people on this site -- I found one car I really liked and signed up for LeaseTrader just to message the owner. After multiple attempts to reach him, I reported he was unreachable. I reported this in total 3-4 times over the past month. If it had been just a timing issue or accidental on the part of LeaseTrader, and they had removed the listing, I wouldn't have felt so cheated at having signed up for the website. HOWEVER, after all my reports, LeaseTrader still will not take down the listing! I imagine they are using it to lure people to sign up for their site even though it is a fake or expired listing. On top of that, they aren't even taking it down after having it pointed out. What a scam. Do not recommend this site. I had better luck with Swap-a-Lease -- at least the listing there was real and I'm now under contract. read more

First of all, I am an educated ivy league graduate, so I do happen to know what I am talking about. With that being said, leasetrader.com will hire someone to dispute what I say in order to make sure the people who see this still get tricked into using this site. Anyway, let's move on. Leasetrader is a huge scam. Essentially, the company preys on the desperate hopes of someone who wants to get out of their lease because it is too expensive. While it markets itself as a company that is responsible for helping you trade leases, in actuality all it does is act as an advertising platform and even if your company doesn't allow leases it says that it's not their problem. Really? You offer to help trade leases but refuse to offer a refund if the transaction is not even possible? What it does is charge $100 just to sign up and offers various advertising options in order get you to pay even more to advertise your car. In addition, it forces you to pay even more fees when "someone" offers to take over lease. I quote someone because for reasons I shall elaborate on, this person may not really exist, and is just a ploy for lease trader to extract more money from you. Now, even if your leasing company does not allow lease transfers (e.g. Honda Financial services), which many do not, it will tell you things like "you're giving up" or "you should argue with them" or "I can give you the number of someone who was successful." Of course, none of these things actually holds up because your leasing company owns the lease and they are the sole decision makers of who can trade their lease and various privacy clauses prevent leasetrader from giving anyone any information about past buyers or sellers. Now let's move on to how leasetrader makes most of its money. Essentially, a lot of the sellers and buyers on the site are fake. What does this mean? The site basically creates a bunch of fake profiles to lure you in to make the site seem more popular than it is. In addition, lease trader charges various transaction fees every time someone initiates interest in taking over your lease. They will charge you over 100 dollars if someone is interested but if they back out you're still responsible for footing the bill. Imagine initiating a deal only to find out that the person who was interested basically backed out on the deal. In the practical sense, you would not be responsible. However, according to lease trader they have the right to charge you those fees even if the person backs out. They can just create a fake account, have the person apply, and just back out once you pay the "transfer fee." You get charged and they get more and more revenue. To make matters worse, they will refuse to pay you back the money and will instead send you to a collections agency which will only fight with you in court in FL making it financially prohibitive to battle them and get your money back if you don't live near the state. Horrendous. Once you get in you can't get out, it's like a vicious cycle. My story is similar to the others on this page except for one thing, ghost account. After I registered and placed my car up on their site, I was unable to log in to my account for the rest of the duration I was with them. What's funny is on their end my account didn't even exist, even though they continuously charged $19.95 for the next 7+ months. I called them about canceling my subscription and to my surprise nobody picked up. In total I called 7 times with each time resulting in the call being hung up. I messaged them personally but no reply. I even Facebook messaged them because hey we live in a highly digitized world now, but yet again to my dismay no reply. I disputed the charges and luckily for me my bank was able to refund not all but a considerate amount of the charges. What's funny is after the bank disputed and refunded the charges it took Lease Trader 2 WHOLE WEEKS to email me stating that they were going to report this incident to all credit agencies. Like please LOL, two weeks after the fact. What's worse is the intimidation and wording of the email. At the bottom of the email it states that all disputed credit card transactions will be charged a minimum fee of $100.00 which is just despicable. It's sad that they run such a shady and mediocre business. If you're lucky enough to stumble upon this Yelp review, please spend your money on some other company. I have no experience with any of the other lease trading sites so I can't recommend anything but if you would like to throw money in the trash then please be my guest. As a side note I knew Lease Trader would never play by the rules and be a good dog. Thankfully I have video evidence of me trying to log into me "ghost account" to no avail. I can't wait to be charged that $100 and then forward my evidence over to my bank. I do not believe that your ads are marketed properly because I have not received any interested buyers for over 2 months. I market your ad myself for one week and produce 3 interested buyers and one to go through with the process. I thought I'd take the risk because there was a really good deal on there, but low and behold, I could not get in contact with the seller. Very shady company. I read all the bad reviews and like a jerk I still signed up. They had a truck with a great price. I signed up just to go for this specific deal. Paid them for the membership and let them run my credit. Magically the second I was able to contact the seller the vehicle went unavailable. To the minute. Multiple messages asking what happened to the listing went unanswered. Wouldn't be surprised if these guys were in the news in the near future for Bait N Switch or posting false listings to get people to join. I'm also betting that the 5 star reviews on yelp come from employees or friends of the company. Stay away and save your time and $$. read more

Most of the negative feedback on this company is the lack of someone getting a buyer to get their lease transferred to. It's not the company's fault the public is not interested in your vehicle. Write reviews about the company not doing their job or refusing to do it. I have used leasetrader.com before and I had no issues whatsoever. The site is more for finding that vehicle you want without having to pay the dealer fees and down payment. Leasetrader's fees are kind of high. Once you find the car you want it's best that you do everything in person with the leasing company. Some companies take a very long time and some do the transfer fairly quickly. Leasetrader will not help you do anything in the transfer process other than getting the paperwork from one party and mailing it to the other. They have no power or say so in the lease transfer process. It's just a place to advertise your car or find a car you want. I did everything face to face and left leasetrader out of the loop but still had to pay the transfer fee even though they did absolutely nothing other than have the car on their site. They will find out if you don't tell them that the transfer is pending. They have some time of notification with the leasing company when the seller posts their car. It's not a scam, just an expensive place to advertise your car. I would go with swapalease.com just because they don't charge that transfer fee if they do nothing. read more
