I called because a cushion on our leather couch where my husband always sits had become discolored and deteriorated. Ivar and team just finished restoring our two 22-year old leather couches. The overall state of these couches was terrible, to put it plainly. All six cushions were dried up and dirty, with holes on some of the cushions. One of the couches had a giant tear on the backrest...it was actually this specific damage that made me realize I need to either get new couches or get both restored. I figured it couldn't hurt to inquire as to how much a restoration would cost...so went on Yelp and immediately found Leather Repair OC. Ivar is a pleasure to work with. I cannot say this enough! The website is pretty straight forward. You can contact Ivar via the website by providing your info, a description of what needs to be done, and (most importantly) photos of the project. Ivar got back to me in less than 24 hrs via email and requested more photos, at different angles, so he can better assess the damage. He's very quick to respond! After further photos, he was able to provide me with a very reasonable quote--so reasonable that I knew restoration was the right way to go! The day of restoration, Ivar and his assistant arrived 10 mins early and immediately got to work. Both were very polite and kind (Ivar was very patient with our dog who was just mad dogging them the entire time because he's such a guard dog) and they were laser focused on their work. The results were just AMAZING. The couch looks new! The large tear on the couch disappeared! Each cushion came out looking smooth and looked so dang good! It is BEAUTIFUL WORK! Outstanding personal service from a pro. We had two issues (tears) with our two leather couches. Ivar came equipped to deal with both. One tear required hand stitching along a torn seam, while the other necessitated some creative patching. Both were done perfectly, so that they looked like new -- can't even see the torn area. He also noted an additional area that was splitting, which he addressed to fix it and make it all stronger. A true craftsman. And all this was done at half the price quoted by another firm. This was a terrible experience. I had hired him on a prior job and he did good work and although he left my car very messy I gave him a tip on the job. This time, I asked him to come out to do a color match on my car seat and when he got here, I asked if he could fill some of the areas prior to paint--to which he did not refuse. When he finish and I inspected his work, I commented that the end result was not very good and asked if he could do the fill like I asked. He then claimed that I changed the job on him and he was very rude to me. I asked him what it would take to make the seat nicer, even if it was an extra cost, and he was very belligerent with me. It was obvious that the seat did not look good and he literally did not care at all. I went through and showed him the text messages that we had back-and-forth and expressed to him that his communication was very poor. He up charged me for coming out to me when I offered to come out closer to him previously. He was extremely arrogant and short with me. He spent 30min and charged me $240-the prior job he did for me a year ago was far more complex and he charged $200. Despite all of this, I paid him the full amount. I'm not cheap and I often tip well. I almost never leave a negative review, but this one was absolutely horrible. He may have the skill set, but his customer service is about the worst it could ever be and he has no empathy or understanding on how to keep a customer happy. If he were remotely kind and did a good job, I would have paid him even more. It's amazing how someone can stay in business with this attitude. Stay clear away. read more
