To put it simply: the owner, Miriam, is a master at her craft. I brought her a brand new Schott leather (over $1k new) and asked her to take in the sleeves. The sleeves were done in a fancy way out of the factory, so it wasn't a trivial job. When I got it back, the sleeves were the perfect length and done with such quality that it is impossible to tell any custom work was done at all. Even the thread color and the spacing of the stitches is identical to the factory work. I brought another Schott jacket to her recently with a more difficult alteration. Same as before, her work was exceptional. In fact, she went through the troubling of re-stitching through all of the needle-holes made in the factory to achieve a flawless end result. All-in-all, Miriam as the best leather tailor in Oregon if you ask me with great prices to boot. read more

I have this favorite green European leather jacket that I have had for years and I ripped a part of the sleeves. I really love this jacket and wanted to get it fixed but I was skeptical of the quality since the rip is not along the seams and I dont want to do a patch. I checked some places and some of them said there is no guarantee on the fix and some places were charging way way too much. After reading the reviews for this place I decided to stop by her shop which I believe is also her home. This was in a residential area in the SE and I was able to take the tri met from downtown. Dont be discouraged with the drab aesthetics of the place, this woman knows what she is doing. I would trust my designer leather goods with her. I paid $45 for the tear which I thought was just a wee bit higher than what I expected but the end results makes it worth it. I took a week before I can pick up the jacket. The shoulder strap on my FAVORITE purse broke after 10+ years of daily usage. I took it to a shoe repair place first. His glue repair lasted less than a year. I recently purchased a pair of leather jeans from Mr. S. Leather in San Francisco. When I ordered them and spoke to the mail order employee, he told me how to measure for my waist size and inseam. I provided my measurements according to his instructions which were big for the size I wear in jeans. They shipped me the jeans and when I put them on they were so baggy and loose and I had to go to Vancouver Mall and ask a cranky Asian woman to measure me and she said to have them bring in another inch on the waist. I sent the jeans back to Mr. S. for them to alter them again and once again when I received them back, they were still baggy and loose. I didn't want to go that route and I was looking on Yelp for someone who does leather alterations and nothing stood out that I was confident in going. I then called Oregon Leather Company in Old Town and they recommended me to Marion Enciso at Leather Sewing PDX. Marion works out of her house off McLoughlin Blvd. and she specializes in leather alterations. I told her I wanted a tight fit on my leather jeans and she made her markings but the leg was too much tapered to allow me to fit them over my boots. She asked for me to come back with the boots on so she can fit me properly. I came the next day and she did the final measurements. It took a week for her to complete the job and when I picked them up and tried them on, they fit like a glove and it was exactly what I wanted. It was well worth the money and now I have someone to use in the future. Marion is a sweet lady who knows what she's doing and I highly recommend her for all types of alterations. read more
