Not worth the convenience of saving a 5 min drive down the road to Beau Brummell Dry Cleaning. They do not outsource dry cleaning, it's cheaper, and way more timely. Pretty disappointing experience. Called twice to check if my sport coat was ready I dropped off a week ago. Left a voicemail, after no hearing from them all morning I went into go pick it up clean or dirty, it's been a week... Sport coat was no onsite, I asked when I can pick it up she said idk we can call you if you like? Yes please call me, then 10 mins later it was magically done and back at there shop. read more

I am truly sorry for the bridesmaid, who had a hard time with alterations in 2018. My experience is more recent--during the past few years, I have had excellent service from them for my regular dry cleaning needs. I also brought them my daughter-in-law's wedding dress, for cleaning and storage prep, and they did a beautiful job, and even saved me some money, with their honest suggestions. People need to be more understanding and patient--even post-covid, there are still supply chain issues, and skilled labor shortages. Bring your items in early, and give plenty of time, and good phone contact number. read more

I had the absolute worst experience having a bridesmaid dress altered here. Vermont Cleaners came highly recommended by Alfred Angelo (where I bought my dress) so, despite it being about 45 minutes from my house, I took my $225 dress in for alterations with Norma. She was very nice and I made an appointment a few weeks later to pick up my dress. When I tried it on, the dress was unwearable due to the alterations not done properly, much too loose in numerous places still, and long. So Norma remeasured and repinned and I came back a week later, days before I was set to fly out to Florida for the wedding. The dress was still an atrocity after the second round of alterations, with sections now bulging from how they were altered and my boobs basically about to fall out if I made any quick movement (which is impressive for an A-cup). I paid the $125 and left because I didn't know what else to do. Alfred Angelo had declared bankruptcy already, so I couldn't re-buy the dress and rush alterations anywhere else. I sent photos to the bride that afternoon and she immediately told me I was NOT wearing this dress in her wedding. She sent me to David's Bridal and told me to pick out any navy dress that I could find that needed minimal alterations that could be done in time before her wedding, and since I was maid of honor, it wouldn't look too terrible if I had a different dress (though this was not at all what she wanted). I ended up finding something and shelled out the extra money for a new dress and alterations anywhere else but Vermont Cleaners. I called Norma to try to get a refund for the alterations that made the original dress unusable and was told to come in to be looked at and MAYBE they would refund it. At this point, I didn't even have enough gas money to make the trip again, regardless of me not having time to go before flying out for the wedding, and told Norma I'd try to come back after my trip. The mangled dress is still hanging in my closet as a reminder of this terrible experience, and I don't have the heart to cart my 1-year-old with me for ANOTHER hour and a half round trip commute to try to get my money back. Don't take your dress to Norma and Vermont Cleaners!!! Save yourself from the experience I had. read more

I had my wedding dress altered here. Norma did a wonderful job. I believe my dress was not the easiest to alter. It was huge and Norma did such a great job, she got it fit me like a glove. Wonderful service and great prices. She always made sure I was happy and I never felt like I was being to picky. I even had an emergency with my bridesmaids dresses so a few of them took their dress to Norma and she got them fixed in like 3 days. This shop was recommended to us by the Bridal shop my son's fiancé purchased her wedding dress from. The dress needed to have bra support built in, to be hemmed and the bodice taken in. When the bride went for her fitting after leaving the dress at the shop for approximately two months, it had been hemmed and incompetent bra cups had been placed in. Upon trying the dress on it hung poorly, was bunching at the waist and the bodice was still too loose and hanging slack. When questioned about the bra supports the alterations lady told the bride she was too big and a built in bra would not be possible. She also told the bride that perhaps wearing Spanx would make the dress hang better. With the wedding in 11 days we were frustrated and unsure what to do. After running around town trying to find some sort of foundation that would work under the dress and having no luck a new seamstress was referred to us. Deciding it would be best to have someone else make the necessary alterations we requested the dress back. We were originally told we would have to pay $320 in order to take the dress even though she admitted the work that had been done was only worth $175.... Finally, after over paying to have a wedding dress not only not altered correctly but messed up, having the bride insulted, left in tears and worried she would have to wear an ill fitting dress we took it to a different seamstress who, after removing a few threads, placing a couple darts, inserting bra cups and will be adding boning for less than half the price to be completed in 4 days, we have some peace of mind. We will be recommending that Charlotte's Bridal remove Vermont Cleaners from their list of recommended tailors. read more

Amazing attention to detail. My daughter bought a couture Vera Wang gown in NYC for her wedding but had to have it altered due to weight loss. The dress was a challenge but they did a gorgeous job, had excellent advice on the train and were delightful to deal with....the place is very unassuming but the work is excellent. DON'T DO IT! I had my wedding dress altered at this place and it was a disaster! For starters... NEVER get your wedding dress (or anything else) altered at a cleaners... go to an alteration specialist. Cleaners don't specialize in alterations and with your wedding dress - you don't want to take any chances. This lady has been doing wedding dress alterations for decades and needs to RETIRE! She obviously can't see what she's doing and/or has forgotten how to correctly complete an alteration. She's lazy, unprofessional and not friendly. Did I forget to mention over-priced? read more

I had my wedding dress altered here and was a somewhat disappointed. A snap that Norma had put on the straps to hold them to the dress, came undone everytime I lifted my arms to hug someone or took a deep breath on my wedding day. I wish she had put on a hook and eye closure instead. Also, one of the three bussle buttons fell off halfway through the day so I had droopy butt. I kind of felt like my outfit was coming apart all day long. I expected more after having spend $300 to have an already expensive and well made dress worked on. read more

This was hands down the worst business to work with since I've lived in Portland. I brought my Rue De Seine wedding gown in to be spot cleaned on the bottom and was verbally quoted by Norma $30-$40 dollars to get cleaned and a 2 week turnaround. I came back two weeks later and not only was my dress still dirty- it had additional spots that were not there originally. Flash forward to another trip there and then my dress was YELLOW! I mean how hard is it to clean a dress and in the areas originally asked (the bottom). So, I was told to come back in another 2 weeks and they would fix it. The third trip I came, there were still yellow spots and the front of the dress had a big purple spot. Of course I was frustrated, but still for whatever reason had faith that they could resolve the issues. Today was my fourth visit (nearly 2 months later) and it finally looks presentable. I was then given a bill of $100 dollars for "spot" cleaning. When I asked about my original quote, Norma denied it and then had me wait an hour until the owner came in the store to discuss it. After talking in circles, the owner basically accused me of wanting a "free clean". Unbelievable customer service skills from both employer and employee. People make mistakes, it's easy to apologize and make things right- considering I was still willing after 4 visits to pay what I was quoted. Such a disappointing and frustrating experience. Go elsewhere if you want quality service because you won't find it here. I wish Yelp had a zero star option. read more

Goodness. I took my vintage 1950's (my grandmother's) dress in to be cleaned & pressed for my wedding. I dropped it off on September 27th and let the woman know I would need it before October 18th. She recommended I get it either the Tuesday or Wednesday before (15th or 16th). I agreed to the 15th and was sent on my way. Tuesday October 15th arrived (3 days before my wedding) and around 11am I went in to pick up my dress. A different woman helped me, Norma, I believe her name was. She couldn't find my dress. She tried to call the plant where they are sent and there was no answer. She told me that more garments would be brought later that day and that I should try back later. A bit flustered, I said "okay," and left to attend to those other 100 little details. I got about a mile down the road and received a phone call from Norma. She had found my dress. I turned around. I went inside, and indeed, the semi-see through dress bag I had provided was hanging in the archway. Upon peering through the bag, I realized IT WAS NOT MY DRESS IN THERE. I unzipped the bag and sure enough, a different, albeit, beautiful dress was inside MY DRESS BAG. Really confused and losing my patience now, I saw that hanging behind my dress bag was my dress. Stammering, Norma took the stranger's dress out and stuffed my dress in. Literally stuffed. Didn't give me a moment to look at it. I had to step back into "her space" and unzip my bag again and ask, "Is it even pressed?" To which she replied, "Yes." Huh. Okay. She whipped me to the register and quickly completed the transaction with my card. Got back in the car, looked at my mom and said, "It's not pressed." Got it home, took it out, sure enough- not pressed. Called Norma, quickly becoming irate, and she said I'd have to talk to some other woman who does the pressing and gave me her number. Customer service...nahhh. So I call this other woman and explain who I am and why I'm calling. She repeats over and over that the dress was pressed. Finally I asked if she knew what dress I was talking about. She describes the strangers dress that was in my bag. Exasperated, I tell her that that is NOT my dress. Oh. She apologizes, tells me I can bring my dress back. Uh, no thanks. So she tells me she'll refund a portion of my bill. That's all well and good, but given the entire fiasco by Vermont Cleaners and this company they outsource to- really, the entire amount should have been refunded. Not impressed whatsoever and will not be recommending VC to anyone, for anything. read more
