With another atmospheric river sliding through Portland, I thought I was in dire straits when the entire toe of my beloved (and only) pair of boots decided to make a break for it by separating from its stitching. My past experience with a cobbler had me assuming it would be weeks before I could get the boots repaired, so imagine my surprise when the owner of this shop said he could repair them same day! Thus enters our hero, Shoes on the Run, stage left. He also pointed out the soles were wearing dangerously thin, and quoted $75 for heel and sole replacement and to fix the aforementioned stitching... for the pair. This is a quality shop and they typically have shoes ready in 1-2 business days. Once I just needed heels and they repaired my shoes right then and there as I waited. The work they do is also the best I've seen from any cobbler downtown. Make sure you bring cash or check as they do not accept plastic. I've been here several times to get rubber soles added to my leather shoes and boots. With the shop's fast service, okay'ish prices, and convenient location, it was looking like I would keep coming back for years to come. Today, though, a new boot came back with a deep gash on its side. I only noticed when I took it out of its bag hours after I came home from their shop, which is part of the problem, as I would have accepted an apology and would have written the incident off as bad luck (despite the cost and rarity of the shoe itself). Instead, it seems like they hoped I wouldn't notice or wouldn't notice until it was too late to trace the cut back to them. As it is, I can't continue to support a business with low integrity and will be looking for a new shoe repair shop. read more

Anatoliy worked his magic on a pair of my favorite leather boots. They were beaten to death from a few years in college and salt damaged from 3 Minneapolis winters. The shop is downstairs, look for the large Anatoliy window sticker on the ground level. He added a rubber sole and heel which improved traction and now they are in much better condition sans the white salt lines. A bit of polishing and surfacing helped hide the cracks. Well worth the $60 to refresh them. Bringing my other shoes back. No credit cards! read more

I had been needing to get my boots re-soled and re-heeled for years (The shoe goo can only do so much)! I stopped by on Veteran's Day to get an estimate and dropped it off with a time to pick up THE NEXT DAY. When I came to pick it up, I arrived a couple of hours before I had told him I was coming. Unfortunately one of my dogs has developed good taste in shoes... in more ways than one! She destroyed part of a zipper on an expensive pair of boots, it looked un-fixable. The shoe repairman (cobbler?) here was great. I brought it to him around lunchtime on Wednesday and he told me it would be ready on Friday. You can definitely see that work has been done (i.e. entire zipper replaced - pretty hard/intricate work on leather boots!) when you closely compare the two shoes next to each other, but no one would be able to tell when just wearing them. He only takes cash or checks. He asked me for a 50% deposit on the job, and quoted me what I thought was a fair price - I would have been willing to pay double! Very happy I did not have to go searching for new boots - especially when these boots were a gift and I would not have paid that much myself to replace them. THANK YOU!!! read more

Anatoli is great!! I found him and his shop thanks to Yelp, and while it took a couple of passes to find him in a car, it was definitely worth it. I'd found a real steal of a pair of much-loved but worn out shoes for $5 at Value Village. They had no laces and were in definite need of being looked at. I was willing to spend up to $35 or so for them to be cleaned up. I showed him my shoes, and he looked at the somewhat frayed part above the ankle and said there wasn't really anything wrong with or to be done with it, but they could be well polished and appropriate laces to be bought for $10. And they'd be done in 30 minutes. :) I ended up coming back a few hours later due to other errands, but the whole experience was amazing. Any shoe repair I'll get done here. He's knowledgeable, fast, and beyond reasonably priced. So many stars for him!! No credit cards. Just remember that and get cash prior to picking up your re-loved shoes. read more

Excellent service! Shoes On the Run is located downstairs in this office / retail space and is easily accessible from the MAX line. The proprietor is very friendly and has always been very helpful. My first experience here was when a pair of boots I had for years ended up with the soles tearing apart. I was afraid I would have to spend $130 to replace them (they are from a specialty company in England) but I decided to give this place a try on a recommendation from a friend. I was so glad I did! The owner (at least I think that's who he is) showed me different options for the sole replacements and I decided on the heavy-duty work soles. It cost around $70 (including tip), only took a few days, and greatly extended the life of my boots. My girlfriend also had her work shoes repaired here as she had a similar problem with the soles being ruined; they were fixed equally professionally and just as quickly. They also sell laces, polish, and other shoe accessories. Highly recommended! read more

The thread in my leather shoes came undone. This upset me. So I looked up local shoe repair and Yelp directed me to this place which happened to be really close by. I walked in five minutes before they closed to the sounds of Russian television and took off my shoe. I showed the guy my problem and asked how long it would take. He said five minutes and it would cost five dollars. 30 seconds. That's how long I waited until my shoe was fixed. It did indeed cost five dollars but that's a great deal and super, super, super, fast. Also, this place is CASH/CHECK ONLY. No worries for a five dollar thirty-second shoe repair but a good thing to know anyway. read more
