100% would recommend this to anybody. It's a fam own business, and I've only interacted with Florentin and he is absolutely so nice. Brought in a dress 3 weeks ago and I knew it was a lot of work for this dress. It was the only size left, but not too far from my original sizing but for the amount of stuff that a person has to do with this dress....well let's just say it's quite a bit. He had me try on the dress, pin it, marked it, and today when I went to go pick it up, he had me try it on and lemme tell you, it fits like a glove. I can't possibly be making this up. It hugged in all the right places, like the dress was made for me (even better than the original sizing if I'm gonna be honest). Florentin is honest, kind, and a man of his words. For all of it, it was over 100. Some say it may not be worth it, and some would say it's worth its value. I have never even found a go-to person/place for alterations back home, but I am so pleased and happy I found one in Portland. I wish I could've taken a before/after photo but I'm not one to rave about a place unless I really think it's worth it. read more

I brought in a vintage windbreaker with sleeves that were too short, and Florentin helped me come up with a creative fix -- using thrifted windbreaker pants as matching fabric to extend the sleeves. Now the jacket fits perfectly, and it looks great. The turnaround was faster than quoted (1 week instead of 2), the price was very reasonable, and the quality of work was excellent. I have never gotten an alteration before. I've always been resigned to the short life - if the pants are too long, cuff them up. But not this time. I decided to get some pants tailored at the last minute before going to Japan; luckily, they could accommodate that. I dropped them off on Wednesday and picked them up on Saturday (yesterday), and now they're packed and ready to fly with me overseas. On point! I asked and he delivered! The skills, tools and passion are all here. I brought my Canali sports jackets in for fitting and when I walked out the sports jackets were custom to my body. They fit like a glove. I couldn't be happier! I tried other tailors here in Portland and the work appeared to be good. Here's what you should be checking prior to going to a tailor. Look at the work in their profile. Does the quality of clothing match the clothing you're bringing to be altered. Do not take expensive clothing to places that does not know how to alter expensive clothing. Try on everything before leaving on pick up. Make sure you're happy with the quality. My husband and I both used Portland Alterations for our April wedding. My groom had purchased a suit off the rack that needed slight alterations and I had a wedding dress with many layers of tulle and a corseted top that needed to fit better. Florentin and Lidiya were lovely to work with and made valuable suggestions to improve the look, feel and fit of both of our outfits. Our alterations were completed ahead of schedule. The studio is nicely appointed, with two spotless dressing rooms, and easy to get to. We were able to make separate appointments online as well, with streamlined the process. We were quite happy with wonderful service we received as well as the high quality alterations. We had a great experience with Portland Alterations. They helped us with 3 garments (2 dresses and 1 pair of pants) for a formal event. All 3 were perfect and completed in a week or so. One of the dresses I gave them seemed really complicated. I wasn't even sure if it was possible to alter it without it looking bad. It had a zipper from top to bottom and was covered in hand embroidered sequin florals. They were able to hem it and re-attach some of the florals so the bottom of the dress still looked organic and curvy. Thank goodness I found them, I was nervous these garments were not going to work or be ready in time. Bottom line they were professional, fast, considerate, reasonably proand amazing. Alterations for all the items were done perfectly. Florintin is indeed a master tailor! Their shop is clean and orderly and their prices reasonable. Nice work, very pricey but the wedding suits looked great. Pay attention to details. I was asked if I was going to wear suspenders and he took the notes and marked No which was accurate meaning I intended to wear a belt. On the way to the airport I picked up the suit for the wedding and It fit great at pickup. I didnt notice the belt loops had either been removed or never attached as I found them later in one of the small pockets. We had a beautiful wedding however I spent all day and night holding my pants up. They didnt fit so well once I started walking and many of the photos were useless as the pants were a mess. Three safety pins didnt help much. Really a terrible pain especially during our dance one handed. Not happy. read more

Live in Camas and had used a few places here/East Vancouver for alterations but each time the work wasn't top notch so I found Portland Alterations on Yelp and decided to give a try, even given the distance. Had a men's sport coat re-sized around the chest and sleeves on another shortened. Both fit perfectly now and look great. Even though it's 25 min each way it's well worth it. I have been back again to get sleeves on a Patagonia nano jacket shortened and the work looks like it did from the factory. Had waist on men's slacks:pants let out, too. I had an outfit emergency (of my own design) before my best friend's wedding, and came late in the afternoon asking if they could hem two pairs of pants and take in one of them in a few hours same-day - I have never gotten clothes tailored before so truly didn't know what to expect. They were so incredibly kind, quick, and responsive. I was able to pick up my pants just before closing and get on the plane the next morning at 8am! This is a much-delayed review. I hardly ever write reviews, but Florentin was so amazing that I kept feeling like I should. I went to him with my wedding dress that had been altered by someone else (who was way more expensive) a few days before my wedding because it still didn't fit perfectly. He looked it over and gave me his honest feedback that it was as good as it was going to get. He spent so much time and energy just to help me, and honestly talk me out of a sale for him. I was so impressed with him that I brought my husband with his wedding suit and shirt to Florentin the next day to get it fitted.
