Laundry was a small shed and it was very hot in that shed. It was 4th of July weekend and the boat ramp was next to our site. Very busy. It's quiet once the boat crowed left. We left early due to no cell service and bad weather approaching. Starlink is a must if you stay here.

The owners/hosts are very friendly. There is a nice dock to sit on or fish off of down by the boat ramp. There is also a basketball goal and playset that the kids in the campground enjoyed. We happened to be there on there Halloween celebration weekend. They had trick or treating and a chili cookoff as well as a site decorating contest. They also had some very nice prizes for the winners! They also had live music. There is no wifi or antenna signal. If you have good wifi on your phone, you may be able to get a low signal depending on your carrier. The town is very small and we did eat at the Overlook restaurant, which was very good but a little on the pricey side. Overall a very pleasant weekend!

Small yet relaxing state forest!…read more Found the forest while looking for a nice spot to have a picnic. It's small but never seems crowded. I've been on both weekdays and weekends, and most weekdays you'll only share the place with a handful of people. It's $7 to enter the park (if someone's at the gates), $13 / night to camp, and $5.35/hour to rent a small boat or canoe. The forest hosts a lake for swimming (sand beach) or boating, two playgrounds, a plethora of grills, and many covered pavilions with picnic tables. Things to know before you go: there is no running water that I could see, however the restrooms were kept well stocked. This is also a place where you leave with everything you came in with, including trash. There are no trash cans available. I usually make it a habit to stop at the gas station headed back into town. ALSO: bring bug spray!

If someone is on the gate the price is $7 to enter and despite the fact that its a smaller park it does have a lake that allows for kayaking, fishing & electric trolling motors only. Jon boats & canoes can be rented by the hour and the lake has a beach area where a handful of children were taking advantage of the good weather. A lifeguard isn't provided but there is a changing house. There are grills within the park and we had a small portion of the lake to ourselves while grilling. There are picnic tables & benches around one side of the lake and it made for a peaceful break during the normal work week. Camping is available for tents and other sections for campers & RVs. The hiking is limited but if you combine all the trails & fire lanes its about 10 miles. The city of Ferdinand is what I call a sleepy little city and I mean that in the best way, so on a Wednesday I saw only a dozen people on this day and relaxed, avoided COVID and look forward to a time when its safe to try the local brewery & restaurants.

There are good trails for hiking and plenty of fish in lake. I very highly recommend this for a weekend or week away from the "hustle & bustle."

I do think with a payment of $500 (checking in on a Friday at three and checking out on a Sunday at noon) for the weekend there were several things that could be upgraded or changed. As I understand we are located in the woods, it would be very helpful if the owners would "debug" the outside deck. There were nests belonging to wasps, hornets, mud daubers and some other crazy huge flying stinging insect all over the place. Let me add there were also spiderwebs with living HUMUNGOUS eight-legged creatures weaved in and out of the surrounding area too. Some so bad we couldn't even take advantage of the hot tub the first night. The place could have definitely used a good cleaning. There was dust, hair and dead bugs in multiple places inside. The cabin also had a musty smokey smell to it. Not appealing. One of the worst things in my opinion were their bath towels smelling of mildew and mold. Just yuck!!!!! If you picked one up your hand would immediately stink. It really doesn't take a lot of money to buy a few new towels. It needs to be done ASAP. This cabin has so much potential. I really wanted to give it a better rating. The layout was perfect. Two bedrooms, one full bathroom and a living room, kitchen, dining room combo. There was also a loft sitting area at the top of the stairs, and a gas fireplace downstairs. On the porch there was a big hot tub, gas grill, four chairs and a nice porch swing. Then leading down from the house to the lake there was a path and a dock that had a two person fishing boat tied to it. If you're interested in getting in some exercise there was also a nice gravel road/trail going around the lake along with a few extra hiking trails in the surrounding woods. With several minor changes and an effort to spruce up the place, I would be glad to rate it four or even five stars next time!

A beautiful four poster bed with views of the Ohio river on the Scenic River Road and a beautiful tub made this an idealic place to start our lives together. The Inn did not survive the Covid pandemic and our attempts to stay here since have not been possible and some of the separate buildings have since been sold to others. The location across from the Overlook Restaurant at the historic and scenic Oxbow Bend of the Ohio river and proximity to I-64 make it a perfect location.

From perfect food (David is amazing) and decorations to MY taste, this venue and staff does not disappoint. My fiancé and I could have picked any location, anywhere around the world to have our private and professionally executed wedding. We chose The Barn at Southern Grace. We simply have no regrets. We choose to rent the entire house as well but you don't have to do that. Renting the B&B for our family and friends from out of town provided a much more intimate event for us and allowed us use of the entire place with zero interference or interruption. It was like being in our own large fancy house. From the professionalism of the staff, the amazing cooked to order- personal choice- breakfasts to the personalization of everything you could think of that a bride might need, they accommodated and went over the top. There were many changes. They accommodated. From our wedding doubling in size of attendees, to the bridal party forgetting that they needed to leave one car at the house and the owner of this B&B driving me to my hair appointment the day of my wedding-the personal service is top notch. My parents couldn't be there. Theresa doubled as my mom and stayed with us to make sure that every single detail was perfect. We added extra people for breakfast; no problem. We changed the menu at the last moment; no problem. The use of the house that goes with this place is not required but it absolutely made a difference. Our tour guide was good as far as information but my husband and I both thought he was a little flippant towards people in the group and although he would say "you'll have time for pictures" he would be audibly irritated with people if they were more than a couple feet behind the person in front of them or if they talked quietly amongst themselves while stopped to take said picture. It's not the most expensive tour we have taken but allowing each group of ppl in the group a few seconds to snap a picture should be allowed for the price you pay. I would recommend this cavern to people trying to choose from several in the area.
