My daughter began taking classes with Lebeor one year ago as a fifth grader - both in-person classes at BAX and online classes to prepare for the Mark Twain admission. She is consistently excited and motivated to attend these classes. They are the highlight of her week! The classes are structured to expose the kids to working with different media (pencil, pen, colored pencil, watercolor, gouache) and different subject matter (figurative, still life, landscape). As a former student of Leon's I have seen my skill and confidence grow immensely over the years of taking his art classes. I came without much knowledge but a lot of excitement for art and had the privilege of being introduced to all sorts of techniques, materials, subjects, movements, and philosophies. I've learned to take more risks and follow my own ideas. The art classes started out as something that was just for fun but very quickly grew into something I took more seriously after I was given all the information on art schools and career possibilities. I took preparatory classes for the admissions test to LaGuardia High School as well as portfolio feedback and building classes. Few years ago my sister was invited by her friend to attend "end of the year art show" at the studio where she was taking classes at. With all the craziness of distant learning I was a little sceptical of how you can continue art classes online. How is it possible to have the same quality of instructions, as high as it was during "live" classes? All my doubts are gone (unfortunately, not the quarantine) and I can see that Mr. Leon managed to keep virtual classes with the same high professionalism and excellent teaching skills. I signed my daughter up for art classes with the Lebeor School of Art in 2020 as an online option during the pandemic. She was in 2nd grade at the time and loved to draw and sketch but hadn't had any formal training. Over the past several years, her skills have grown tremendously. Lebeor Art School is a great place to learn art for kids. Leon and his assistants are really great instructors. My daughter has been attending the school for 2 years and still enjoys every lesson. We can see the progress in her works and her skills have improved drastically since she started the classes. I signed my daughter up for the online middle school art test preparation class and the regular sketch class. I have to say it was one of the best decisions I made for my daughter. I am one of Mr. Leon's students since I am 8 y.o. This September I'll start my high school. Mr. Leon's virtual classes are great. Everything runs smoothly and there are no problems. I've been going to this place for a few years and everyday it keeps becoming more and more pleasant and fun learning here. Mr. Leon and the rest of the teachers (Elon, Alina, etc.), all have a perfect mix of strictness and gentleness. This gives the staff at Labor a unique asset that most art schools don't have. All the instructors at Lebeor are very helpful and they have taught me so much in the past 9 years that I have been going there. They teach all the kids a certain proper way to draw at first and then they allow you to freely express yourself however you want, yet continue to help and teach you through every work.
