Welp we done did it. We found them. The best effing fish tacos in Nashville live at Leche de Tigre. I didn't believe it at first. I've been around. I've had ceviche here... good ceviche, solid ceviche, ceviche that will do the job if you're suddenly hit with a lime-and-fish craving in East Nashville. If you want the real ceviche crown though, that still belongs to Limo Peruvian Eatery down the street (imho). But let's stay focused here, because what Leche de Tigre has mastered are tacos with fish inside of them. One visit a few weeks ago, in a moment of weakness, I ordered the fried rice. It was fine. Not bad, just... fine. I spent that entire meal staring longingly at Sam's plate of fish tacos like a man who knows he has chosen poorly. She offered me one bite. That bite haunted me for days. So today, sweet redemption. We returned. On a Tuesday. And by some cosmic alignment of fortune, it was Taco Tuesday. Normally $9 for two, today they were $6.99 for two. I don't know if this deal happens every Tuesday, but on this Tuesday, I felt blessed by Paco the god of the taco. And the tacos? These tacos were transcendent. Crispy fish that somehow stayed light, a burst of flavor that didn't just hit your tongue but rewrote your afternoon plans and maybe your life story? Tacos that made me question every other taco I've ever eaten. Nashville, I'm sorry. I didn't know it could be like this. Leche de Tigre sits inside The Wash, which is basically an outdoor food court for adults who still want to feel cool. If fish tacos aren't your thing (which begs the question: are you okay?), you can wander into Cuban food, Vietnamese, fried chicken, pho, and other distractions. But for the love of all that is crispy, order the fish tacos. Four stars for the menu as a whole. Five stars for the tacos. Average it out however you want, but I'm coming back for those tacos. read more

Got takeout and tried several things, all of which were tasty. My friend and I decided Limo is still better, but I can't really fault this place. I will say, I ordered a veggie chaufa and it came with chicken in it, which was annoying for my vegetarian friend. Here's what we tried: -Veggie Chaufa: 9/10 - I'm normally not a fried rice fan but I loved the flavor of this one and it was the perfect level of richness. My only note is that ordering the veggie chaufa meant I should not have had chicken in it. The chicken that did come in it, though, was super moist and flavorful. -Clasico Ceviche: 8.5/10 - YUMMM!! So nice and vinegary, and the seafood was so fresh and tender. Highly recommend. -Pollada: 8/10 - The chicken leg was a bit dry, to be honest, but the potatoes and chimichurri were melt in the mouth good. A shame there was only a tiny bit of them. I also loved the side salad and the sauce that came with the dish, which when mixed with the plain rice, was delicious. read more

The ceviche was awesome, as good as my favorite ceviche anywhere!!!! My family loves Peruvian food so we tried Leche. It's a different kind of set up, think food hall, but it works. There is parking behind the church. The sleeper surprise was the quinoa burger, it had so much good texture and bold flavors that we all kept taking bites of it. Oh wow. If you like ceviche- this is the best I've ever had. Get it in the traditional glass, and the "sauce" is so much richer and flavorful than what I've had in Mexico and Latin Caribbean countries. Still cilantro and lime. But Peruvian corn and corn nuts add to the texture. The seafood was stunningly fresh - every piece and no disappointment. The spiciness was light and unobtrusive. Just amazing. I'd drive from anywhere to have this. Had two empanadas that were also excellent. Very filling - should have had one. Rich sauce inside. Stewed chicken (wow) inside. Flaky crust. Food was decent. Tasted fresh and good. It is authentic Peruvian, though the lady who was the cashier didn't seem too familiar with the menu, that, for a Peruvian is kind of discouraging. We, Peruvians are very passionate about our food and when you hear the person who works there say something like "that sauce, the green sauce" Peruvians know it's is the "huacatay sauce". So that will turn a Peruvian off. There is no parking, not signage to know where you can park. So definetly a challenge. Place seemed clean, but there were too many flies. Some tables had a fly fan battery operated device, but it makes you wonder why there are so many flies. I don't know if I would go back. Maybe take care of the flies and get some signs that tell people where they can and can't park. read more

One of the struggles I have, as someone with quite a few food allergies and intolerances, is trying new places and always being a little unsure whenever I'm eating out. I often even find myself throwing out dishes I've ordered from restaurants I've orders from previously because of a slight suspicion of cross contamination and out of fear that it will make me sick. But tonight I felt like living on the edge so I figured I'd try Leche De Tigre - 2 Peruvian Chefs (Ordered off Uber eats). Upon delivery of my order I noticed a lovely note that said: "Thank you for your order. We made your food in clean oil. (Not contaminated with shellfish) and we do not use nuts or sesame in our food. Have a god day!" Honestly, that simple gesture of kindness and reassurance made my entire day and I felt assured and excited to dig in... and let me tell you, the food did not disappoint.... IT SLAPS SO HARD!!! Thank you to whoever took a minute out of their dinner rush to write that note so that I could truly enjoy the delicious, incredibly well seasoned, and wonderfully flavorful dish you and your team worked so hard to prepare. It's little details in service like this that separate good restaurants in the hospitality industry into GREAT restaurants. I truly wish other restaurants would take the time to do this.
