I went there with a friend recently, and honestly the service really disappointed us. Our waitress ( big girl with long hair and Venezuelan accent ) didn't smile, seemed uninterested, and acted like she didn't want us there. She was on her phone a lot and ignored us when we needed help, which made the whole experience frustrating. What's strange is we've been there before and had a completely different experience with her when the manager was around. It felt like without supervision, her attitude changed a lot. It's a shame because the place has potential, but service like that really brings it down. Authentic Peruvian food. I love what I ordered which is Aji sauce with chicken and rice. And a glass of chicha morada. Taste just like Peru but at 5 times the cost. Creamy pepper sauce with chicken and rice, just comfort food. They do put a lot of fillers like potatoes in the sauce so I don't how much chicken is actually in it. I'm giving this place three stars only because the portion is good and the service is not bad other than that well that's it! We arrived about 30 minutes before they closed and we ordered quick because we knew we arrived late. The drinks were not bad but I felt the chicha was missing something. Maybe the pineapple or the apple? Not sure but when the arroz chaufa arrived it just did not have the Peruvian taste. It was salty, not spicy enough and it was missing some seasoning. I tried my husbands lomo saltado and it wasn't bad but it just did not taste peruvian. I know this because I'm from peru therefore I know the authentic taste, the homemade taste and the close to original taste. Well none of the dishes we ordered fit into those categories. The food here is authentically Peruvian, and well made. The servers are kind, but one thing to note is it took a VERY long time for our plates to come out. The portions, however, were very generous (though do keep in mind you're likely to pay $25-35 for your meal). I decided on getting the Aji De Gallina while my friends each got the Tacu Tacu with steak and the Lomo A Lo Pobre. Here were my thoughts: -Aji De Gallina: 9/10 - The chicken comes in the creamiest, richest yellow pepper sauce, and there's a good amount of it. The flavor is exquisite. There are also large rounds of boiled potato, which go great with everything. You get rice with it too, but it was too much for me and I mostly just ate the chicken stew and potatoes. HIGHLY recommend this one! -Tacu Tacu: 7.5/10 - Super salty, very meaty, really good. Comes with lots sauce, rice, meat, and some cooked tomatoes and onions. The veggies were a nice touch, and this was a decent, filling meal. -A Lo Pobre (lomo): 6/10 - It wasn't bad, by any means, as it had lots of variety on the plate. The meat was good, thought the sauce had less flavor than the Tacu Tacu. The fries were not very flavorful, crispy, or salty, which was disappointing. The fried plantains were good, however! Disclaimer: I've always thought to get 5*, everything has to be perfect. A 4* review means damn good food that I would come back for. 3* means I may come back, depends on what was lacking. Anything less than that and I probably won't be back. Panca has been on our list of places to check out for a while and we finally got to it tonight. It's nestled into a corner in the same shopping plaza as Plaza Mariachi. This was my wife's and I first time trying Peruvian food and Panca did not disappoint. My wife ordered a Michelada which was the best one she's had in Nashville. Honestly, it was so good I ended up getting one too. The food was fantastic too. I ordered the Pollo Saltado, which was flavorful and salty (in a good way). I thought the fries with the rice and chicken was a little of an odd pairing, but the fries on the bottom that soaked in the sauce from the Saltado were fire. Went on a Sunday evening for dinner and it wasn't very busy so we got seated right away. Our waitress was not very helpful or friendly she seemed like she was ready to go home. The pisco sours we're very good. We ordered our food and it came out fairly quickly. The ceviche jalea dish was suppose to be a mix of both dishes but the jalea only had the fried calamari, the rest of the seafood and the red onion on top was missing. The ceviche mild and not spicy and they didn't ask if I wanted it spicy or not. The lomo juice wasn't juicy it was a bit thick and creamy which was odd. The staff were so nice and friendly, especially when 16 of us descended on them without warning on a Tuesday night. Portions are indeed very large (I got at least three meals out of my chicken "aji" dish, which was creamy and delicious, but definitely was better with some of their salsa picante. As others have mentioned, it's at least $25 a plate, and you will go home with leftovers! read more

The food was excellent but the service was sorely lacking--I think they were really understaffed for a Saturday night service. My husband and I ordered Papa Huncaina for our appetizer. I am not sure if it is supposed to be served room temperature but it was. The flavor was really good, the potatoes were perfectly cooked. It reminded me of potato salad. My husband ordered the Carne Asada and loved it. He ordered rice and fried plantains as his sides. I stole a fried plantain off his plate--it was delicious. So sweet and savory too. Panca is bringing a taste of the Andes to the South and this excites me. After a failed attempt at finding food at Plaza Mariachi (not the place to go during covid times) we ended up at Panca which ended up being the best unintended meal I've had in ages. We started off with mango margaritas after I tried looking for Pisco Sours on their bar menu sign but did not see it (lost a point for not having this famous Peruvian cocktail). The margaritas weren't too strong but still good. For food I got one of my all-time faves which is Lomo saltado. They definitely did it justice and the portion size was large so I ended up getting a box for some of my meal. My friend enjoyed the a lo pobre which was fries, steak with a fried egg, plantains and rice. For those who have never had Peruvian it is a flavorful experience but is not like eating other South American cuisine because of the Asian and native influences. The food here is phenomenal! Until today, I have never tried Peruvian food. Based on the reviews, I ordered Arroz con Mariscos and Aji de Gallina. Arroz con Mariscos is paella, a tomato rice dish with an assortment of seafood and shellfish. Aji de Gallina is shredded chicken in a creamy pepper sauce with soft potato slices, served with rice. Both come with a spicy green sauce on the side if you want to add a kick to your meal. Definitely order these if you want to try something new and are not sure what to order. First had the pleasure of visiting here last summer. I loved it so much and had been craving it since then, however, when I returned to Nashville, they were temporarily closed due to COVID-19. I am glad to finally have fulfilled my craving with take out from Panca's!!! The food was still very much hot when it arrived to my house. I highly recommend the whole Peruvian chickens if you're feeding a family. There definitely is no shortage of food. The chicken was juicy and moist and so flavorful. Everything had the same excellent flavor I had during my first visit. I will say, the green beans could have been cooked more for the average person. My aunt joked they were straight out the garden due to the slight crunch. Also, the fried rice has a different spice to it that is kind of reminiscent of cinnamon (??), I personally enjoyed it, but I know some may not. I just wanted to share my HORRIBLE experience at this restaurant and the poor customer service. My family and I went for the first time to this place, server took the order and I did replaced some of the side dishes and even the server agreed with the replacements and made comments that those were good replacements. After 40 minutes of waiting (I understand if business is busy) server came with the food, of course brought my plate with original sides and not the replacements, I inquired and requested to have my plate changed, well the server said "plate is already out can't do anything about it". Server came with the bill (machine with total) I asked why it was too much on final bill like 15 dollars over for what it should have been, server just replied "this is the bill". I requested physical bill, server replied "you need to pay first" I paid and server brought paper receipt, ended up server was charging us upfront "tip" on which we were only 6 and by TN law has to be over 8 people. And to make it fun at the end, server came to the table and asked us to please leave because restaurant needed the table for other people. This is so unprofessional/unpleasant. This was a gem of a place! We were actually headed towards another restaurant in the shopping center where this place is located and changed our minds when we saw it. I am so very glad we did. We sat in the charming little outside patio where they had some upbeat music playing. The staff was helpful, friendly and super patient even though they were very busy. The food was Excellent. We had the fried yuca as a starter. The Huz had the Pollo Parrillero with rice and beans. I had the mixed Ceviche. We also had the Tres Leches for dessert. My friend said his pasta saltado didn't have much flavor. However the calamari was good, very crispy. The server didn't really check on us often either. When I asked for more water it took a long time to come and they weren't busy. Overall, the chicken saltado wasn't really special. It really tasted like over sauced Chinese food. My friend, Jackie, had to find them to get our takeout box and bag. This is why I had drop it down to 4.5 stars. On to the excellent part, Peruvian food is amazingly delicious due to its multicultural influences. My friend said it came closest to her food in Ecuador. She, also, highlighted the Asian influence in Peruvian food. I did a quick read on Peruvian food: Peruvian cuisine reflects local practices and ingredients--including influences from the indigenous population including the Inca, and cuisines brought in with colonizers and immigrants from Europe (Spanish cuisine, Italian cuisine, German cuisine), Asia (Japanese cuisine and Chinese cuisine) and West Africa. Without the familiar ingredients from their home countries, immigrants modified their traditional cuisines by using ingredients available in Peru. The four traditional staples of Peruvian cuisine are corn, potatoes and other tubers, Amaranthaceaes (quinoa, kañiwa and kiwicha) and legumes (beans and lupins). Staples brought by the Spanish include rice, wheat and meats (beef, pork and chicken). I was delighted that this was my first Peruvian dish and can not wait to try more or attempt to cook it. My friend ordered Tallarin Saltado. Tallarín saltado (stir-fried noodles) is an Asian dish that has become very popular in Peru, and it's considered one of the favorite dishes in the country's culinary repertoire. We disagree only in that my actual 4.5-star rating includes service & dining comfort. Regardless, this is a VERY GOOD EATERY for Peruvian food. If I resided in the Nashville area, I would pick food up from here a minimum of monthly. If you're not yet familiar w/ Peruvian food, definitely pay attention to the menu items preceeded by a star; the star designates "chef selected" dishes. We tried two-- both were top notch. Family dishes & kids's entrees are included on the two-sided plastic menu, a menu well organized by food genre. (I recommend you peek at the online page before arriving.) You really must SEE THE FOOD PICS to understand how phenomenal our three dinners were! They were very flavorful; the serving sizes were more than satisfactory & there was a very nice variety on the menu. My daughter chose to try one of the restaurant's signature dishes, which is a staple in Peruvian restaurants: FISH & SHRIMP CEVICHE. At $17.95, she loved the fresh ingredients combined to emphasize the many flavors. (She eats Peruvian food quite often.) My friend of 40+ years absolutely LOVED the POLLO PARRILLERO, a $13.95 plate composed of a half chicken marinated in a "special sauce" & accompanied by two sides. (She selected the delicious tomato w/ onion & fried rice.) We each sampled it; the seasonings used & the tenderness of the bird are just two reasons to select this menu item. However, the WINNER OF THE NIGHT was another chef's recommended creation-- AJI DE GALLINA. Additionally, aestetics are not up to par. From walls to floors & tables & chairs, the decor is old, dull, & dingy-looking, & this ethnic eatery makes its home in an outdated & drab strip mall. As you drive by & peer inside, the restaurant's orange walls & old white tile floors do not scream, "Come on in!" Even the neighborhood has seen better days. However, since its initial opening Panca has added an outside, cover-less patio w/ seven convenient metal tables. The eatery attracts a large ethic crowd, & it assuredly inspires w/ its delicious items! This is definitely NOT a restaurant to bring ones significant other if atmosphere matters. Nor is it where you'd want to schedule a first date. However, this IS a place to dine-in, pick up from, or from where to order delivery thru Uber Eats & Doordash. Peruvian ceviche is not the same as Ceviche that's widely known. I like both kinds. It has been my goal to find authentic Peruvian, and it just happens to be located really close to my house! This is something I am very happy about. With it being so conveniently located in Plaza Mariachi strip mall (not in the actual plaza space), it allows me to get my fix on a budget or not anytime I want to. The best part about it? The owner is from right outside of DC in Maryland via Peru. I moved here from DC, and there are a TON of great Peruvian restaurants there, but wasn't sure if I could find me the same quality and authenticity in Nashville. I was happy to see I could. I live for Peruvian ceviche. It also just happens to be the country's national dish! Ceviche is a seafood dish usually made from fresh raw fish cured in citrus juices, such as lime or lemon, and chili peppers or other seasonings including salt, cilantro, and chopped onions. If you're into poké, this would be a no brainer for you. The difference are the side items that come with it and the fact that ceviche derives from Latin America. Anyway, the ceviche is legit here! If you are looking for something to try Peruvian, but not ready to venture into the land of unfamiliar, try pollo or lomo saltado. I prefer lomo (beef) over the pollo (chicken). Lomo saltado comes with said meat, french fries or potatoes, grilled onion, grilled tomato, sometimes peppers, soy sauce, vinegar, and crema. It is a dish full of hearty flavor, carbs, and starches. Plan to split this if coming here for 2 people. Their portion size could feed a small village. These are just a couple of notable items, but if you're looking beyond that - know they have the menu to accommodate. They also have drinks in the fridge to choose from. No alcohol and some fountain fruit juice beverage called chicha morada. This is usually purple and made from purple corn! However, they have a couple of different flavors. Parking is ample and with no problems. Customer service was great! They were prompt with the cooking of our meals and took no time to get them out to us. Excellent spot located in the plaza mariachi mall. Very nice place to dine and very friendly staff. Menu was in English and they will explain about each item. Noticed that the food was not spicy at all however the flavors were absolutely to the point. Even surprised that the Onion and Tomato salad was fantastic. Yuca was fried to perfection and you get 2 sauces...the green one is spicy infact is ground chillies...the yellowbone seems to be mustard mayo. Whole chicken was also excellent. The plantain fry can be considered as a desert and the burnt ends tasted all the more better. read more

Nashville has been missing good Peruvian since El Inca closed roughly a decade ago. I've had to get my fix when visiting the places with Peruvian populations like L.A. and D.C. So when I spotted the Panca sign in Plaza Mariachi, I had to make a visit. I've been several times now and am pleased they exceed the quality of the many Peruvian restaurants in major coastal markets. First the chicken: Peruvian chicken has a great blend of spices and is slow roasted. Panca uses real charcoal and has a great blend of spices. The chicken at Panca falls off the bones effortlessly and is pure deliciousness. If you try nothing else on the menu here, try the chicken. Sides: I love yuca (cassava) and their fried yuca is always the right balance of crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. If you've tried to cook yuca or sampled at other restaurants, you know it takes talent and dedication to get just right. The plantains are delicious, as are the green beans. Service is friendly, prices are great. And they have enormous photos of Peru on the wall for it to daydream while you wait for your food. I look forward to trying some of the other dishes soon, as Panca is now on my regular rotation. read more

This place had great service. Tasty grilled chicken, authentic ceviche and lomo saltado. The carne asada was a little too salty but a nice Inca Kola can fix that. Overall, decent place. read more
