Rice with pigeon peas, wood roasted pork and green bananas in pickled sauce (escabeche).
Carmen L.

The food truck was difficult to find because it is off to the side of an empty lot. Once you know what you are looking for the next time will be much easier. The food was tasty and fresh but the portions were massive. For $18 I got arroz con gandules, pernil and boiled green banana which is a decent price but ended up throwing away food because it was too much. I suggest offering half portions as well as full orders. The server was friendly and helpful. They were out of some things so go early.

We had the lechon asado and the pollo asado, both delicious! Service was excellent and clean. Our new go to on the weekends!

Great food for sure, huge portion as well. It's waiting outside until your name is called. Bring a book to read while your food it's served.

Like eating a plate in a lechonera in Puerto Rico, you will not find better. Get there early or you might miss it

Paired with their heavenly rice and scrumptious macaroni salad, each bite feels like a voyage to Puerto Rico itself.

One and done. Checked out Ernie's Patio Bar for the first time and decided to try this truck out…read morefor some dinner. Big mistake. The photos and descriptions on their truck and menu look amazingly mouthwatering. Naturally, we ordered based on that. What we received was NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, like what we saw or read. Unfortunately, I didn't get good pics because it was already dark. DH ordered the Cubano Sliders. 4 sliders with fries, and he opted for the garlic Parmesan fries. We've had plenty of sliders in our lives, and these things were TINY. They looked like delicious sliders in the menu photo, but you know the chicken minis you can get at Chik-Fil-A? That's how big they were. One or 1 1/2 bites each. Super small. The fries very garlic-heavy, but we like garlic so that wasn't too terrible, but the fries themselves were not good. Too crisp and dry inside, they just snapped off when you took a bite. The other dish was Pollo Guisado. I'm not denying what "guisado" style chicken is, and in my photo it is pretty accurate, but the photo they display- which was what I wanted- is completely different. Couldn't be more opposite! Their photo and description showed whole pieces of chicken with grilled peppers and onions, rice on the side. Looked pretty delicious. The young girl who took my order said they could do vegetables but it's extra. Huh? Ok, but the picture with the vegetables looked great so I went with it. She asked which beans I wanted (not in the menu photo) but I chose to skip the beans. What I received was a pile of pulled chicken (found a few bones inside!) with rice, some previously frozen mixed vegetable blend (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) that tasted way off, and fried plantains whose dominant flavor was the oil in which they were cooked. No whole pieces of chicken, no grilled peppers and onions, nothing in any way resembling what they advertised on their truck. For the two meals, it cost roughly $31. Not worth it in any way whatsoever. FWIW, our friend ordered a burger from the other truck and enjoyed it. We enjoyed Ernie's itself but the next time we go, we'll either get a burger from the other truck or get better food down the street. We were so hopeful for this one but it's a hard pass from here on out.

Saw this place featured on Guy Fieri's Diners Drive Ins and Dives. I'll be honest, most of the time…read moreI try to hit his featured joints when I'm visiting a new city. Only recently found out this location had been on the show, so my wife and I thought "why not?" Bottom line: I'm usually underwhelmed by the places Guy features on DDD. However, I wasn't this time. We were pleasantly surprised by everything. Got lucky our server was Puerto Rican and could walk us through some different items and words on the menu. She was a gem. I knew NOTHING about Puerto Rican food before last Wednesday night. Started with the plantain chips and dip: we ate the whole thing. Wonderful. Highly recommend. My entree was the El Condado steak with arroz con gandules and savory beans. Highly recommend, although I found my steak pretty damn tough to cut and undercooked. Like, seriously pinker than I'd like considering I ordered it medium. My wife ate one of the Mofongo dishes. Everything was very good. Wish my steak had been cooked more and that service hadn't trailed off toward the end, but I still think the whole package is worth that fourth star. Great date night location.

The happy hour offered daily is great. Lots of plates that are so delicious and priced affordable…read more The regular menu is also fantastic. They moved location about 3 weeks ago and I love the vibes of the new location just down the street. I always receive great service. Check out the lunch buffet. Tasty and inexpensive. A great way to sample different offerings. Do it!!!
