    Empanadas La Carte

Great place for a quick, tasty, and cost effective meal! The spot is hidden in a shopping center and you'd miss it if you don't turn your head. I live right down the street and have came a few times. The girl at the front was kind and helpful towards picking some options for me. She mentioned the corn mix is their local equivalent of maseca which is a corn based flour. The flavors are bright and tasty. The San Antonio arepa is a good mix of flavor and spice. They have room for a stage and apparently they have live performances there too. Would definitely be willing to check it out again! They are open for lunch and dinner so come give a try!

Great services, wonderful staff, yummy food. I was invited to join for a birthday celebration lunch. We arrived upon opening. We were greeted by staff and sat in the VIP section. We let staff know that someone in aloud party had mobility issues that would make it difficult for them to go up stairs. They were more than happy to accommodate. The place itself is a bit small but very clean and inviting. There is not much for us vegetarians to eat but I did order a potato and cheese pastilitos which was excellent! I also ordered me a diet soda. Our party ordered various dishes and everyone enjoyed their meal, minus one picky person. The food came out fairly quickly and was delicious. The birthday guy loved what he ordered and staff even presented him with a birthday flan. This place is more than welcoming to all. If you have not had the opportunity to try this place do yourself a favor and stop in. I'm sure your tastebuds will thank you for it. Thanks to all the staff that were so kind and patient with our party.

Delicious food with a robust menu of items ranging from small plates to larger dinner meal options. It's located in a small strip mall with outdoor and indoor seating. You pay at the counter, grab a blinker, and then your ordered is called out for pickup. Bus your own table. Casual, delicious, fresh food at reasonable prices. I had the empanada with has a soft outer shell and the inside was filled with plantains and brisket. It was savory, filling, and excellent.

Let me start off by saying I'm vegetarian. Most items are fried or contain meat. I purchased the cheese empanada which tasted like fried corn dog batter and a mashed potato and cheese pastry thing which was also tried but was sweet. The dip is either spicy (but not really) or mayo based. The best thing there...the fries. Salted to perfection. Overall...over priced and tasted like fair food (but subpar).

The menu offers a variety of Venezuelan cuisine from the basic empanas to full burgers. The empanadas are to die for. Tasteful, crispy, and mouth watering. Service was great. It was a little visit during my visit but they took my order by the cashier, paid, and a few minutes later, had my passion fruit and my menu items on my table. Place is a little small but has optional space outside and next door. Food was great but wish the passion fruit came with a refill.

Very friendly and attentive owner and staff. Place clean and the food was tasty. Is small place but comfortable and friendly. I recommend this restaurant. I celebrate my birthday here today with family in the little private dining area and is my first time tasting Venezuelan cuisine and it's really good!!

A friend of mine loves this place, so on the way home from an event, my husband and I decided to stop in. It's a nice, clean place with lots of tables. I ordered the reina pepiada arepa and it tasted like bland chicken salad. I did appreciate the amount of avocado on it though. The arepa itself was really tough to bite into and it hurt my teeth, so I had to get up and get a fork to just eat the inside of it. I wish the staff had been more welcoming and friendly, but that's not a dealbreaker for me. My husband absolutely loved his sandwich and said he'd go back, so I would go back too, but I would not get any of the arepas again.

I tried their food truck a few years back and I'm so happy to see they have expanded to a brick & mortar location. The menu has lots of options, I went with the Chicken and Avocado Arepa. You have to option to customize whether fried or grilled. The chicken was flavorful and the arepa itself was very good. I definitely want to try other items on their menu.

The food here is absolutely amazing! I'm definitely going to be a repeat customer. The employees are very helpful and kind and food comes out somewhat fast. The only issue that I had was that after the meal, we purchased some chocolates and other items to take home. The chocolates were expired. I didn't know it until I took a bite though. I should've known that it wasn't supposed to be white and chalky. Haha. But I know now!!! It was expired by several months. We will definitely be back to sample the other items on the menu.

For dinner tonight, we weren't wanting to venture too far from home. When I was searching on US281, I saw @zuliaskitchen 15 minutes away. It turns out that Zulia's opened this brick and mortar location 5 months ago. I had had good experience at The Block SA location, when they started out as a food truck. You order and pay at the counter, get a buzzer, and pick up your food. Milan took our order and took care of our drinks. We ordered the following to share: Empanada with beef brisket, Pastelito (mashed potato and cheese), Sweet Plantains, and Quesillo (Venezuelan flan). Dad and I shared the Arepa Pelua, which was with shredded brisket and cheese. We both had the Passion Fruit Juice, which was a mix of sweetness and sour. Hubby had the Arepa Pabellon and unsweet tea. Everything was delicious. I was loving the garlic cilantro sauce. The sweet plantains were similar to Filipino ones except for the shredded cheese and mayo. Dad really enjoyed these. I was curious how this flan would be similar or different from the Filipino flan. This one was more firm, but the sauce tasted fairly similar. One thing I learned reading up about arepa is that it's in both Venezuelan and Columbian cuisine. Now I'm curious to taste the Columbian version to see the difference. There's a mini mart full of goodies and 2 refrigerated cases of products to buy. There is covered outdoor seating as it warms up. Come check it out! Another location is at The Block SA, 14530 Roadrunner Way

Came her a few weeks ago with my fiance. Would have written this sooner, but I have been in a food coma since eating their Pepito. The place is in an area that shares parking with many other businesses. One place that it shares parking with is Pocket Billiards. I fully intend to make a night where I eat at Zulia's and then go play some pool at pockets. When we got to the area, we had no trouble finding a parking spot. My fiance and I went in and didn't find anyone else in line. We ordered our food. I got the Pepito. It's a Venezuelan sub that has grilled sirloin, chicken breast, and bacon. It also has grilled cheese, potato sticks, parmesan cheese, ketchup mustard, and mayo garlic cilanto. We were given a buzzer that would alert us when our food was ready. It was not long after we were seated that our buzzer went off. The Pepito was delicious. I do suggest that you learn the ability to unhinge your jaw to eat it as it is stacked with lots of different ingredients The restaurant does have a nice outdoor area that I hope to use at another date. I recommend this place for its really good food.

Never had a chance to order. Came in and patiently waited looking at the menu waiting for the current customer at the register to conclude their business. At this time, a couple in scrubs inserts themselves and starts "pondering" on what to get to the cashier. It was like i am Casper the friendly ghost. WTF. Would expect the cashier to help manage the line. Yes did call. Asked if there were anything to add. What I heard was not a response at all. Also, I never expect anything for free.

This areapa is so flavorful with chicken and avocado

One and done. Checked out Ernie's Patio Bar for the first time and decided to try this truck out…read morefor some dinner. Big mistake. The photos and descriptions on their truck and menu look amazingly mouthwatering. Naturally, we ordered based on that. What we received was NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING, like what we saw or read. Unfortunately, I didn't get good pics because it was already dark. DH ordered the Cubano Sliders. 4 sliders with fries, and he opted for the garlic Parmesan fries. We've had plenty of sliders in our lives, and these things were TINY. They looked like delicious sliders in the menu photo, but you know the chicken minis you can get at Chik-Fil-A? That's how big they were. One or 1 1/2 bites each. Super small. The fries very garlic-heavy, but we like garlic so that wasn't too terrible, but the fries themselves were not good. Too crisp and dry inside, they just snapped off when you took a bite. The other dish was Pollo Guisado. I'm not denying what "guisado" style chicken is, and in my photo it is pretty accurate, but the photo they display- which was what I wanted- is completely different. Couldn't be more opposite! Their photo and description showed whole pieces of chicken with grilled peppers and onions, rice on the side. Looked pretty delicious. The young girl who took my order said they could do vegetables but it's extra. Huh? Ok, but the picture with the vegetables looked great so I went with it. She asked which beans I wanted (not in the menu photo) but I chose to skip the beans. What I received was a pile of pulled chicken (found a few bones inside!) with rice, some previously frozen mixed vegetable blend (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots) that tasted way off, and fried plantains whose dominant flavor was the oil in which they were cooked. No whole pieces of chicken, no grilled peppers and onions, nothing in any way resembling what they advertised on their truck. For the two meals, it cost roughly $31. Not worth it in any way whatsoever. FWIW, our friend ordered a burger from the other truck and enjoyed it. We enjoyed Ernie's itself but the next time we go, we'll either get a burger from the other truck or get better food down the street. We were so hopeful for this one but it's a hard pass from here on out.
