I emailed this directly to covenant before I even drove out of the parking lot. I hope this really speaks to others out there about the incredible experience and quality of care i received at LeConte. Dear Covenant Health, I just discharged from the emergency room at LeConte in Sevierville. I was treated under Dr. Cullen Copeland submitting myself after suffering two long months of pretty intense and severe persistent shoulder pain after a car accident. The wait time was basically non-existent to even be seen and placed in a room to receive treatment. Your entire staff from the receptionist that checked me in all the way up to the doctor that oversaw everything were absolutely 100% professional, undoubtedly respectful and completely went above and beyond when it came to actively listening and responding to any voiced concerns. I am absolutely just beyond grateful for the entire opportunity to be treated at this facility. I saw it had 2.8 stars on yelp but was hoping i would be appropriately treated and decided to go anyway. I mean, it was more than I could have even known to ask for!!! Even the experience of literally not having to get out of bed for the imaging ordered (x-ray) was really new and surprising and really nice! I've not ever seen an x-ray machine that basically didn't need an entire room for housing and didn't require me to get up and go to it. The nurse who later arrived with my discharge papers was so respectful and allowed me to not only voice my concerns but when I asked to speak with the Dr again because I didn't fully understand the discharge paperwork, she immediately snagged him from his untold continuously busy day and he was amazing in how he not only listened to my concerns but even literally saved me truth be told--untold amounts of money!! He, who i'm sure was simply just operating as he normally does, went above and completely beyond what I arrived there expecting!!! Once he explained everything i was so so grateful he did just exactly what he did. While it would have been just stellar all the way around to have him be the one to explain the for-the-moment diagnosis so that I could ask questions etc, I do recognize that is absolutely just kind of silly to expect with all of the duties he has being in his position and how busy he must certainly stay as your ER physician! He was literally looking out for me even when I didn't even know how or that he had even considered the entire visit that far out and down to that level of detail!! However he let me speak, heard me out fully and wait patiently and very respectfully, I feel , for me to ask all of my questions. he didn't interrupt or really act anything other than just completely professional. After I had voiced my initial confusion he explained everything to me. I just cannot stress enough that He is not only a brilliant physician, but an absolutely genuinely empathetic and caring human being. I had no clue that he was truly doing me a humongous favor by referring me to primary care instead of ordering an MRI. He even explained what I was basically going to expect in my treatment moving forward after I am established with a pcp! I literally walked out of that department just beyond grateful for your staff. I mean I am just so ignorant i guess of the world they function in everyday, that I had kind of ridiculous expectations going in literally to the point when Dr explained how he had saved me $5,000 OR MORE because my insurance would absolutely not have covered an MRI in the ER, I was finally able to see just the smallest glimmer come from what I feel confidently, is really and truly just an exceptional, empathetic, caring and downright incredible emergency room department staff. I simply can not express truly how not only BEYOND impressed I am but how deeply grateful I am for such an incredible experience being treated by such amazing people. I will leave this review or something very similar with five full stars on yelp for this er. I mean, you guys beat the UT hospital ER by a mile. I mean comparing the two experiences...it's just not even close!!! I was seen in the ER by Dr. Andrew Richard Rise. My visit lasted about 20 minutes. During that time, only blood work was done and my temperature was checked. When I asked the doctor what the diagnosis was and what I should do next, I was told, "I don't know, just go home." I was honestly shocked by that response, as I left without any clear diagnosis or treatment plan. Later, I received a very large bill for this visit. I contacted billing to explain that the services were extremely limited and that no diagnosis was provided, but the amount was not reduced. Overall, the experience was disappointing and did not meet my expectations for an emergency room visit. Update: After I left my honest review, an additional charge was added to my account for services that were never provided. This appears to be an attempt to collect money unfairly. I want to make it clear that no such services were performed, and this charge is not legitimate. I will be filing a formal complaint regarding this situation. read more

I was in a lot of pain and went to the hospital,they were not crowded and took me right in. The nurse who treated me was very nice and compassionate. She ordered many tests and didn't have to wait long. The tests were negative but they gave me a prescription and advice for treating my pain. I'm glad I went. I went 2 years ago and it was good than too. I recommend going here!! read more

I was on vacation and was taken to the Leconte center er on 8/31/25. All of the staff was extremely professional and helpful. The doctor spent all the time I needed, and I did not feel rushed. A lot of places you are treated as just a number, and they are just ready to get rid of you as soon as possible. I would recommend this facility to everyone. read more

My 1 year old woke up with croup in the middle of the night while we were vacationing there. I had never heard a noise as scary as the awful barking cough and wheezing be was doing. We rushed him to the ER and they treated him so quickly, gave him a breathing treatment and waited to make sure his oxygen was at a good level before discharging us with medication. They were very friendly and fast taking care of my sick baby who had very scared parents at the time. read more

This is a fine hospital for MRI, CT, bloodwork, they are usually not too busy,,,,that being said,,I DO NOT recommend the ER for anything other than that, Emergencies. I went there 4/25/25 at approx. 3pm. I was taken back & put in a room (in the ER) shortly after arriving. I went there for fecal impact which I've had issues with in the past. This time was particularly painful, back pain & stomach issues which admittedly I should have went sooner. After explaining to the ER doctor about my past problems with this, he had me take a CT w/contrast. He returned to tell me I am dangerously impacted, that it is very serious and that I could die! My partner and a nurse were in the room when he came back with the results. I was given some fluids and a mixture of enema vials that were administered by the nurse. After about an hour sitting on the potty which was brought in next to the bed, the nurse returned and asked if the enema worked, I told her no it hadn't. My back pain was excruciating & stomach pains were still the same. She left the room and came back shortly after with my release papers. At this point I Lost it. I cried, and apologize for the cussing. I asked how can you send me home when I was still in the same pain with no relief whatsoever. I am a 60's active, mostly happy go lucky Christian woman. I wasn't there for pain meds or some sympathy, I was there for medical help. I couldn't understand (and still don't) how they could send me home when I needed (possibly life saving) medical help. This happened yesterday. Thankfully, I did pass some fecal at home, some of the pain has subsided. It is Saturday so I will need to see a Gastrointestinal Specialist asap. I realize this emergency room doctor does not specialize in gastrointestinal issues, but I can not wrap my head around the fact he had enough knowledge to tell me this could kill me and then send me home without taking care of the life threatening complications. This is a very long story cut short, I am from Southwest Florida , I was cleared by my OB to go to gatlinburg for Christmas at 34 weeks pregnant (I would be 36 when I went home) with my husbands family. We all go a stomach bug and I got it 4 days before we were supposed to drive home , for two days I was throwing up, diarrhea, and couldn't eat. I started having what I thought was Braxton Hicks contractions the night before we were supposed to leave so my mother in law told me to go get checked out to make sure I can make the 14 hour drive home. Well I was 6cm dilated at that point and had my baby shortly after in Tennessee At 36 weeks! The staff was AMAZING , they made me feel comfortable and heard. I was terrified to give birth in a hospital away from home, with a dr I didn't know at all. The Dr took his time with me, I had some complications and was so close to a c-section, he let my body work itself out and took care of me like I was his own daughter and had a vaginal birth! The nurses got me some Tennessee gear for my little baby boy. I get so emotional talking about my birthing story , because these nurses and the Dr was such a blessing to me and my family. I couldn't recommend this hospital enough, I will be taking my baby boy back and show him where his mommy gave birth to him with the help of these amazing people. I had to have a colonoscopy and was referred to Dr. King and LeConte Medical Center. While I have had a colonoscopy before I had not met Dr. King before and had never been to a hospital since moving to Tennessee. Lisa and Angela in Day Surgery were very attentive and explained what they would be doing; Liz and Jessika in Endoscopy were great, even though I was asleep most of the time; and the anesthesiologist, Toby, was great....even though he kept waking me up! ha ha ha I am very pleased with the care I received....just wish I didn't live almost an hour away since I would definitely go back if I needed care. read more

Went in the middle of the night with my wife in labor with our fourth baby, so we knew he was coming fast. ER nurse was more concerned with her make up and asking if we had insurance and if we speak ENGLISH!!! Mind you, I was in my SCRUBS and a badge from a sister hospital still on since I was at work when my wife called me. Besides making inappropriate comments, zero congratulations, we get threatened with CPS by a nurse lead. Once social worker came to do her regular rounds, I told her I was a nurse and work along with social workers and how we were treated. She was a bit nicer. But overall, horrible experience. Oh and we got discharged on Christmas Day which makes it extra memorable. Other comments made "you're going to bathe your new born right?" Again, me and my wife are hard working Americans with multiple degrees between us and have healthy great clean children. Every time they opened their mouth, it was ignorance and insults. Went to ER with sever chest pain. The ER was packed but they saw me within a reasonable time. Staff was very responsive and Dr Destefano was very patient and explained all my options for testing along with his recommendations. I ended up getting admitted and floor nurses Heather & Gwen were very attentive. I wish I remembered the names of everyone that worked on me but they were all professional and explained everything. I had lots of scans and blood work with no complaints. Before being discharged, Dr Barrett came to my room and very patiently explained everything and provided personal instructions, not just preprinted stuff. All in, I wish I never had to go there but to know this quality of medical care is available where we like to vacation is assuring. If needed, I would return there knowing I would get quality treatment. Reading other reviews, I need to add. I was discharged after 22 hours and never once asked for a credit card or money. I am sure bills will arrive in the mail but they appeared more concerned with my health than a form of payment. read more

i've visited ER department today. I have never seen such cruelty and lack of caring for the patients. I was a patient there today and I received absolute worst care that I have ever received. I am highly disappointed in the staff at the ER department today. Their lack of human empathy and care was absolutely ridiculous and uncalled for when my husband went to go get the nurse because they wouldn't answer the nurse button After several attempts. They were all on their phones watching TikTok. Unacceptable. I am very concerned for any patient that would ever walk through those doors. what I encountered today broke my heart I honestly don't understand . when your in your most desperate time of need they didn't care . what I endured today was unacceptable and very concerning for the safety of the patients there . I had an odd pain in my lower abdomen and we were literally in the middle of nowhere in a airbnb cabin. And there was no hospital or urgent care near by and they all had 1-3 out of five stars which is pretty scary considering your going there for your health. We read a lot of reviews about 3-5 hour wait time in the lobby, poor attitude from staff, messy and dirty areas like blood on your bed and so much more so we waited to see if my pain would go away but unfortunately it didn't and I was getting worried so we were prepared for the worst. It was terrible snowy weather and it was pretty far. But we got there signed in and immediately got inside and then transferred to our room. We weren't seen by a doctor we were seen by a nurse practitioner I believe which is kinda scary but he was so so nice and gentle we loved every conversation we had with him and I felt good in his hands. We were there for about 3-4 hours simply because they were waiting on me to provide a urine sample which I took a while to do so. They only thing I definitely disagree on is that they did not do any further investigation on what I could have they only did a blood test and urine both came back good and the nurse told me he does not know what it could be or why it's happening that's when I felt a change I was very disappointed and still left worried and now I have to come back from vacation to look further into this by a dr. The nurse that took out blood from my arm though did have a pretty lazy I don't want to do anything attitude, she through all the needles packaged and bottles on blood on the bed I was laying on and her attitude told You how much she did not want to work which sucks because you are dealing with with sick worried patients... other then that I think we got lucky that day but considering the reviews I would not recommend going here but then again it's the ONLY closet hospital opened 24/7. read more

I went to the LeConte emergency room in Sevierville on 1- 18-23 around 10:30 pm with extreme abdominal pain and vomiting. Long story short, they let me sit in the ER lobby 9 hours putting me off till the day shift came in the next morning. When I was finally taken back to see a doctor they found that I had an 8mm kidney stone that had ruptured part of my kidney which caused my abdomen to fill with urine which developed into severe sepsis and then pneumonia. I was transported by ambulance to Parkwest in Knoxville where I underwent surgery that evening to have a stent inserted to help my kidney start functioning. I had to spend 6 days in the hospital all because the triage nurse and receptionist in the ER wouldn't take me serious and wanted to push me off to the next shift. I went up to the receptionist several times throughout the night pleading with her and got the same response each time. "I'm so sorry you have to wait but many people have to wait 12 hours". finally I went up again at 6 am and was told there are still 5 people ahead of me - there were 5 people in the waiting room. how can that be? that would mean that no one came in after me when I came in at 10:30 the night before which I know isn't true because I watched people come in all night long. then she told me that the next shift comes in in an hour and things will move much faster then. their putting me off for 9 hours caused my condition to get much worse and almost killed me. every health professional I've talked to has said the same thing. they always tell people to never go to LeConte if it's a true emergency. I've been hearing horror stories about LeConte in Sevierville for decades but tho surely by now they've improved. but they have not!!! read more

Review I left on LeConte's Facebook page: My daughter went to Leconte Medical Center and was diagnosed with Endocarditis. After lying in bed for 2 days, she complained of a severe headache (to the point where she was crying), along with vision problems and weakness. The nurses didn't take her symptoms seriously because of her past IV drug use (which she had already detoxed from before entering the hospital). She finally got transferred to Fort Sanders where they did a TEE and a head CT. Sure enough, she had a stroke while she was at Leconte! The lack of care and compassion at this hospital is inhumane. Please do better at treating ALL of your patients equally, and provide them with the same care you would want your loved ones to have - both physically and mentally! There's a reason why the nurses at Fort Sanders call this place LeCAN'T Medical Center...they CAN'T provide quality care. read more

Had to bring my friend here after she had continuous vomiting while unable to keep down any liquids. We had Cassi as our nurse and Jason as our physician. They were both phenomenal. Often times when you come into the ER at 3:00 AM people are not friendly because they are tired working the night shift so it was really nice to have some friendly faces while we were there. Family emergency while vacationing in Pigeon Forge, we visited the ED at Leconte Medical Center. The physician and nurses were fabulous. Very efficient and knowledgeable about our family member's illness. IV, started, medications given, CT completed and results given within a few hours of entering the ED. I was very impressed. My wife had a surgery that they botched. They got $15,000 in insurance and they STILL wanted more even after their incompetence. Then on another occasion they made her sit there for like 6 hours and wouldn't treat her when she thought she had overdosed insulin. Mother was brought in by ambulance in excruciating pain, spent all day, got no attention, less than minimal treatment, and was sent home with an unacceptably LOW level of mobility such that she's in worse condition now than when she arrived. This facility isn't equipped to do anything but waste the patient's time and "refer" them elsewhere. Check in the ER was simple, wait was very short, test were administered swiftly, things were done throughly. I was in and out in less than 2 hours and had a correct diagnosis. The most unprofessional group of medical personnel I've ever encountered. We arrived late at night about 3am, my girlfriend had complications due to a recent surgery and was severely dehydrated and hadn't stopped vomiting for 6 hours. They demanded a consent to treat signature while she was profusely vomiting. With only three people in the waiting room they said the wait could be hours. I asked if they would treat her if she blacked out and they replied "not if we don't have a room for her." At which point I evacuated her from the dystopian twilight zone of an emergency room. Filled with a bunch of pride full country bumpkin medical staff who had zero bedside manor. At one point I screamed my girlfriends name as she fell in and out of consciousness, the lazy receptionist giving a smirk before telling me there was nothing they could do for her and she didn't know when we would be seen. We then left the premises to call for help from EMS and we were refused. I was forced to rush her to UT medical center as she was blacking out from dehydration. I hope this horrible staff is removed from duty before they seriously hurt someone or worse. They couldn't have been less understanding or less helpful for being an emergency room. The lobby itself looked like it hadn't been mopped in god knows how long and it smelled like rotting fish. read more

Excellent service in the ER. On vacation in Pigeon Forge. My mom had an infected tooth. We went to the ER, because urgent care was closed already. From the time we walked in the door, we were there less than 1 hour total. We were greeted with professionalism and courtesy. The rooms were very clean. The staff from reception to doctors were all very nice and knowledgeable. Our local hospitals could take many lessons from this hospital. I would and have recommend this hospital to others anytime. read more

I went to LeConte Medical Center yesterday for having a couple of seizures and when I went in and they took my blood for lab work I warned the worker taking my blood and poking around with the needle for it that I was getting dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out again and he said "oh well that's good for us huh?" After about thirty minutes had passed the nurse came back in saying that either the monitors failed or i flatlined and died for a couple seconds. But I think it's crazy that I warned someone that was going to happen and they just didn't care at all. LeConte sucks it always has and honestly it always will. I've lived in Sevier county for over 6 years now and they've never been a good hospital as long as I've been here and going there. If you ever get a shorter guy named Matthew going to do your blood work don't let him he's terrible at his job. read more

My husband had chest pains. Triaged by great people. Cardiac enzymes were elevated so another one was taken. 6 hours passed and I ask if the second results were in. The nurse turned around and forcefully said "this is an emergency room and we're very busy!" Duh, here I thought I took my husband to the Ritz! So so rude. Meanwhile the monitor is screaming and his pulse tanked and the monitor clearly said AFib. No visit from anyone for three more hours. Eventually he was transferred to a hospital via ambulance. It gets 2 stars because of the beautiful grounds! Much to my annoyance, I spent 2 nights of my vacation in this hospital Emergency Room. My review is specific to these two E.R. visits only. My running joke is that this hospital is a fake hospital. I don't think anything about it is real. I felt like I was on a movie-set while in here. All of the "nurses" seem to be about 12 years old and wear their Hillbilly stamp proudly. The first doctor I saw seemed intelligent enough, the second one seemed to be about the same age as the nurses. Don't even know if she was a real doctor or not. I went in on Monday night (12:15am - 4:30 a.m.) and then on Thursday night (8:30 pm - 1:30). There is NOTHING quick about this place. You register, then sit in the waiting room for hours. All I needed was a damn breathing treatment. It didn't even seem like the place was that busy, so I don't understand what the deal was. I think they literally only had ONE doctor working, and they all just moved at a snail's pace. Nobody really seems to give you any attention at all. My first night in, I had a great male nurse. i think he was the only good one on the whole entire staff. I've never seen such a large group of ineffective people. My 2nd night in, I was in the E.R. for a total of 5 hours - and didn't have a nurse come check on me ONCE. I waited for hours for the Dr, then after the Dr came in she sent in a nurse to discharge me. Nobody ever came in to check on me for those 5 hours. I really hate to sound mean, because these people may have been nice. I just didn't feel safe and sound at this place. Maybe I'm a medical-snob, coming from Chicago... but this po-dunk place just didn't sit right with me. THANK GOD, i wasn't there for something life-changing. My 2nd time going, i prepared. Packed a backpack with munchies and pop, my iPod loaded with music and movies, a sweatshirt, etc.. read more

Hospitals are supposed to be clean. Nope. Triage should be efficient. Nope. Areas should sanitized. Nope. Staff should be kind. They are nice. They are clearly understaffed and overwhelmed. Still they got the BILLING and Registration piece down. That's one of the first things they did. That was done hours ago. Here's a visual. Little girl (about 9) screaming in pain. Old man with an IV struggling in a wheel chair. There's a shirtless man vomiting and wailing in pain in between the sounds of upheaval. They have 3 armed security staff with fire arms, tasers, and cuffs but NOT law enforcement. Not sure but this may be one of the worst ED and hospitals we've ever been to. Masking....says mandatory but even staff wear the mask wrong. Haven't seen one person on staff sanitize their hands. Had to remind the nurse by gentle "did you sanitize your hands?" And that triggered the sanitize and glove routine. Universal precautions. Yeah not so much. When your sick and in pain it's really hard to remain situationally aware. Be careful and if you have the misfortune of actually having to come here be kind to the staff. They are clearly having a hard go of it but you still have but mindful of your safety and health. Have someone come with you if possible. The administration should be ashamed because a stroll in the ED (emergency department) is all the need to know there are some serious health and safety issues here. read more

Took my daughter there for a possible problem with her shoulder. It had been dislocated while she was playing in the pool at our hotel over the weekend. We got there somewhere between 9 and 9:30, didn't leave until late, but we weren't the ones who had been there longest. There were SO many with needs that would have and should have been prioritized in other locations in other patients who had been sitting there for HOURS before we even arrived. The nurse or receptionist (not sure her credentials but not wishing to belittle her in ANY WAY!) was very kind, patient and professional, as was the triage nurse and the guy who took my information (since my daughter is a minor). However, the P.A., despite his attempts of being empathetic and sympathetic, (who even said the correct things.) came off even to my 8 year old, as being a jerk due to his general attitude, tone of voice and body language. My daughter got her official prognosis (she's fine, luckily. No permanent damage, but is definitely going to be hurting for a few days) elsewhere, and they did not even call to "see if we were still there" until over an hour after we left. It was disgusting. I understand being understaffed. I understand being overworked. I did nursing for 16 years so far myself! But the amount of stupidity, neglect and BS that happened last night was uncalled for and NOT OK by any shape of the word read more

Had surgery in 2015 for an extrangulated Hernia. Nightmare !! I was in intensive care for 3 days. Never bathed or looked after. Incision almost a foot long on my chest so I was in awful pain. My call button which controls lights ,tv, bed and calls nurse did not work. I could hear the nurses talking at the station and called out for over a half an hour. No one !! I luckily had my phone and called 911. I had to have them dispatch a Police Officer to the hospital to get a nurse !! My wife changed my sheets and filthy gown, she also washed me with a towel. This hospital is a Digrace !! Should be shut down. Rated one of the worse in the State of Tennessee !! Here's with the news reports No Tennessee hospitals received a failing grade. Two received D grades: Memphis' Regional One Health, and Covenant's LeConte Medical Center in Sevierville. LeConte scored low on several measures, including infection rates, death from serious treatable complications, bed sores and "dangerous object left in patient's body" during surgery, but its scorecard noted it declined to provide data used to measure several factors, including MRSA incidence, handwashing, error prevention, adequate nurse staffing and "effective leadership to prevent errors." read more
