*** Only accept Visa or Mastercard for spending over $100 ***…read more Rivera Food Service is a wholesale restaurant supply store selling bulk food/drinks cater to mostly Mainland China shoppers. This of this place as warehouse version of Hawaii Supermarket. Membership is not needed and anyone can just walk in. [Parking]: Limited free parking spaces and the parking lot was packed when I came here on Saturday afternoon. [Selection & ambience]: The warehouse here was less organized than its next door competitor NTFOODS with bulk cardboard boxes stacking up in middle of each aisle. Half of aisles led to dead end and I had to constantly make multiple small detours within the store. This place was even harder to navigate than NTFOODS. I also smelled unique Chinese herbal scent that you can only find in certain Asian supermarkets. They do sell boxes of fortune cookies here as well as a small fresh produce section. No electronic tags here vs NTFOODS. Some items are actually more expensive than what you will find in typical Asian supermarkets or even Costco. Personally I would much rather visit NTFOODS over Rivera Food Service (all located in the same plaza.)

This place is located on Baldwin Ave just after the bridge and before Lower Azusa if you're heading north on Baldwin. There's plenty of parking here since it's basically a warehouse that is open to the public. This place is cash only if you're buying under $100. They will accept credit cards after that amount is met. Be sure to check the prices for produce, such as the vegetables, they may cost more than Supermarkets outside of this store. They carry a lot of different sauces, bulk refrigerated fresh noodles, frozen meats and seafood, take out boxes and also boba supplies. Yes, you heard right boba! They sell boba toppings in huge containers as well as the cups, straws and drink mixes. Anyone want to open their own personal boba shop? Well they can grab some stuff here. If you like hot sauces or cook with a lot of chillies (numbing ones included). They sell the peppers here in bulk. They also have sauces, like soy sauce, sesame oil, dumpling soy sauce...etc. Ever wonder where you can buy a big bulk of fortune cookies, well they have them here for sale. Selections may vary throughout the week and day due to certain businesses buying up the stock.

This place offers excellent discounts on everyday necessities-typically 40-60 % off retail-making it a smart alternative to local big box stores. Instead of paying full price for one item elsewhere, I can usually get two or three here. I recently started coming back to pick up the same things I'd normally buy at a big-box store, and the savings have been worth it. I'm also happy to see they've expanded their selection-dishwashing soap and automotive products are great additions at very competitive prices. Simply put, you can't beat the value here.

I asked the worker what kind of business is this and he said it's a liquidation store. I've never heard of it but they buy items from big retailers when the shelf life has expired. After the worker, took the item of the box for me to inspect, he asked if I wanted to look around. I was very curious of what they had to sell. It seems like most of the items are brand new and at very low price. I only went there to spend $50 on one item, but left with four more items spending $106 if you pay cash; otherwise, it would had been $126 for card. It was definitely a good buy day and I will be returning.

This event is not open to the general public, but only open to restaurant owners & their associated employees. Chefs' knives, food products to enhance & stream line restaurant food production, freezers, refrigerator units that chill Sashimi & Sushi display cases, fish venders giving out samples of Maguro & Hamachi, there is a plethora of products catering to the Japanese restaurant trade. For many years, this trade show was on the grounds of Mutual Trading Company's warehouse & office on Crocker in downtown Los Angeles, but in the last two years, the Japanese Food & Restaurant Expo has been at the Pasadena Convention Center on Green Street. I was impressed with the number & quality of Sake vendors bring with them samples of Sake, Plum Wine, Sparkling Sake (The new darling of novelty in the Sake world). Representatives were from Dassai, Kubota, Born to name a few of the premier Sake producers as well as other extremely competent but less well known Sake brewers. These representatives know their Sake, so they are capable of answering technical and culinary related topics relative to the restaurant perspective. This is a must for the owners of Japanese Restaurants & their employees since it allows them to keep au currant on different aspects of Japanese food technology & restaurant associated products & equipment.
