[Selection & ambience]: The warehouse here was less organized than its next door competitor NTFOODS with bulk cardboard boxes stacking up in middle of each aisle. Half of aisles led to dead end and I had to constantly make multiple small detours within the store. This place was even harder to navigate than NTFOODS. I also smelled unique Chinese herbal scent that you can only find in certain Asian supermarkets. They do sell boxes of fortune cookies here as well as a small fresh produce section. No electronic tags here vs NTFOODS. Some items are actually more expensive than what you will find in typical Asian supermarkets or even Costco. Been to Rivera Food Service a few times. I kind of think of this place like an Asian Costco plus a supplier for restaurant owners. This place is located on Baldwin Ave just after the bridge and before Lower Azusa if you're heading north on Baldwin. There's plenty of parking here since it's basically a warehouse that is open to the public. This place is cash only if you're buying under $100. They will accept credit cards after that amount is met. Be sure to check the prices for produce, such as the vegetables, they may cost more than Supermarkets outside of this store. They carry a lot of different sauces, bulk refrigerated fresh noodles, frozen meats and seafood, take out boxes and also boba supplies. Yes, you heard right boba! They sell boba toppings in huge containers as well as the cups, straws and drink mixes. Anyone want to open their own personal boba shop? Well they can grab some stuff here. If you like hot sauces or cook with a lot of chillies (numbing ones included). They sell the peppers here in bulk. They also have sauces, like soy sauce, sesame oil, dumpling soy sauce...etc. Ever wonder where you can buy a big bulk of fortune cookies, well they have them here for sale. Came here without planning it! Was in the area and have passed by multiple times so wanted to see what it was all about! I'm so glad that I did! They got so much stuff to choose from and its basically like an Asian Costco. Everything is sold in bulk. I was a little hesitant in going in due to the bad reviews but my experience was good. The workers were friendly to me and the store wasn't too busy. I didn't really go to the cleaning supplies so cannot confirm if they are overcharging for anything. If you are into the flavored teas, they have a great selection of flavors to choose from. They also sell a variety of boba to include in your drinks. They also have a great supply of meat from short ribs to brisket to seafood. I def recommend this place if you are looking for bulk items. read more

It was my first time here and I was actually quite surprise at the variety of items for sale here at prices that are much lower than the local Chinese markets. This is a huge warehouse (no business license needed unless if you are buying alcohol) and you can buy items in bulk or individually. Rivera isn't exactly an Asian name. But here, what you'll find what is best described as an Asian Costco. From the exterior, it's easy to confuse this place as a whole sale operation. In fact, their neighbors are all wholesalers. The only thing that reveals Rivera is not strictly wholesale is a sign that says, " Open to the public" Once inside, you'll quickly see the industrial layout: A giant warehouse, commercial lighting, high ceilings and rows & rows of commercial size refrigerators, just like the ones you see in Costco. They carry just about all you need if you own an Asian restaurant, such as bulk size sauces, cases of frozen buns, wontons, dumplings, meat products etc... The large fridge by the entrance is stocked with fresh produce (at least it looks fresh) I wondered around in there for a bit & could not immediately figure out their system, how they group their products. Asking the guys who stock the items is of very little help, as they simply shrug. I don't speak espanol. The prices are... well, depends on what you buy. Certain items if compared to Asian markets like Ranch 99, HK or 168 are a great deal. While other items are very comparable, just in larger qty. I went in here looking for (xiao long bao) horribly translated to "little dragon buns" which came in a bag of 50 for only $5.! yes, that's a small fraction of what restaurants charge you, roughly $10 per order of 12, and it tastes exactly the same. Unfortunately, we were told by the cashier they stopped carrying it. Very upsetting as they were really good. This is not a place I would come often as I don't see myself needing gallons of hot sauce or cases of frozen wontons, but once in a wile, I might get lucky and find items that are served in restaurants at a much lower price. Interestingly, for a place this size, it's not too busy each time I come. notes: Baldwin exit off the 10 going North to Rivera is blocked off for a project that looks like it hasn't progressed for a few years. Follow detour signs back on to Baldwin and go south for a couple of blocks (south of Lower Azusa) They have guys that will help you load items into your car. Nice touch for a warehouse setting. Do your math. Just like Costco, just because it comes in bulk doesn't automatically mean it's a better price. Last time we went there 20 minutes before closing. We were harassed by the people who worked there. They kept coming up to us and rising their voices and telling us that they were closing soon, and they wanted us to go to the register right now. The female cashier and the one other female who was standing by the door were the worst. They kept screaming "hurry up we are closed." I finally got fed up with their rudeness and lack of respects I rose my voice back, and I requested to talk to the manager before I paid for the groceries. Then, they kelp quiet and shut their months. This store was the worst ever. I will never want to shop there again, and I have since been telling all my friends and family about their bad behaviors and I am demanding the management to fix this issue/problem. read more

the boy was raving about this place A LOT! i don't think i've ever been to a wholesale place besides costco. but this is like a costco, the chinese version. it's in elmonte, on baldwin ave, which i normally wont pass by. but!..from now on..i will drive there just for this place! i had so much fun in there, it was like disneyland. i'm exaggerating, but it makes me so happy in there. the whole point for us to go there yesterday was to buy a bag of Wei Chuan "shao long bao" cuz it's onli $4.99 a bag! which has like 50 pcs inside. and it tastes great..boil it with water, steam it watever you like. it just tastes like the SLB outside. but u can eat as many as u want and you won't run out! everything else in the store caught my attention. so we literally walked through every corner of the store. they have to go boxes, cups, kitchen equipments, frozen food, dry food, jello powder, and just everything you can think of that a restaurant will need. i also found jars of chili radish that i've been looking for in every other markets/stores. and guess what? they sell it here!!! this is the onli chili radish that i'll eat...no other brands! it was a great adventure. most of the things there are way cheaper than outside, you just need to buy it in larger quantities for some stuff. i'm already thinking of going back and buy a box of shrimp, bag of corn, and more frozen shao long bao! i think they closes around 5 pm..so don't be late! read more

I have to agree with Karen N, this wholesale warehouse is a gem. We have been eating at dumpling houses and the cost, while minor, still seems high for each dumpling. Something similar to the $1.25 a piece of a sushi roll nowadays. I mean come on, $10.00 for 8 pieces of a sushi roll! Dumplings are only .60 a piece roughly where we eat but that still adds up so when a friend suggested to buy it in bulk here and make it at home, I said why not. What I didn't realize was that this place had lots of stuff this asian dude buys at the asian markets but after they mark it up. For 50 dumplings, it cost about $4, that's .08 per dumplng!!! And they have dumpling sauce too, hot or regular in the bottle for $1.50. The place, as the picture shows, is very industrial, so don't even expect Costco cleanliness but you can buy a hundred pound sack of rice for about the same as two 20 pounders at the asian markets. Terrible for any true food service operator. I called asking for Altufo mangos; the lady over the phone said "of course." I arrived, asking 4 employees for mangoes; two said they are in the fridge, two said no mangoes. I came to the front to clarify and the lady said "yes, I can sell you 1 box." I told her we usually purchase 10+ cases, however, I told her fine, I will take a box just to sample. Very bad business practices, tried to exchanged product to different size, which I get it to small. I dont have the receipt ,since I bought it couple week prior . I didn't think it would matter since it It has their rivera sticker on it. But the boss told me they cant exchanged it without receipt and plush any body can make rivera barcode sticker. The parking is ample outside, but the entrance is quite ghetto. There was even water all over and around the ramp that leads into to the warehouse when I last visited. This place also closes quite early on a weekday and even earlier on Sundays, so be sure to keep that in mind! However, there is a lot of hidden cheap stuff here, as long as you take the time to locate where everything else. Most of the time, stuff is just placed randomly throughout the warehouse, making it difficult to find anything since there aren't any large signs to help direct customers. The staff members also don't seem too helpful. The English spoken here is also quite limited, so it is advisable to bring a friend or two who knows Chinese if your own Chinese sucks. read more

There had a good number of negative comments posted here regarding their black/yellow spot "fresh" veg., "Manager attitudes", & their own added weight "Bonus ICE" packed frozen items.................... but were all erased for no reason. This is not a big / reputable warehouse-market that care about their quality & customers. Appears that buying the manufacturer originally packed items is a sure safe way of shopping, asking about their very unique (or none) return/refund policy is a must "Must" & don't ever wait before you pay. As the manager can come up a ton of reasons to decline, even defending that it is not purchased from them. The man in charge of the warehouse has a very typical strong WORST "Asian" attitude towards customer that normally not come across in this country, but somewhere in other part of earth that has no sense of "respecting " culture . Shop and read other posts (we don't know if they have any relationship existed) very carefully, as it is risking your own money and your family health. Trust what you see and your own shopping experiences. You will soon find out that they have a very good reason to ask for "cash" payment, as credit card will help consumers to decline the payment for the questionable shopping experience. TERRIBLE attitude from the manager. Accidentally dropped 2 bottles of A1 sauce when trying to get a crate of peanut butter since everything is so closely packed together. We don't mind paying but the young manager came up to us rudely and demanding us to pay for it. They're lucky we're not suing them for their own hazard and the A1 sauce even made my leg burn a bit. We called this store and got confirmed that they were going to close at 4:30 pm. We arrived 15-20 minutes earlier than their closing time after a long distance driving, but we found the young manager (his name is Mike, or so called "A MAT") had already closed the door and didn't let people go inside. We pointed out that it is not correct to close business before the time has not reached the closing time. The young manager, Mike, is extremely rude and was mad at us after we requested to talk to his supervisor, he told us he is the only manager of the store, and there is no supervisor of him, he is the boss!!! We insisted to speak to his supervisor, then the young manager, Mike, told us that if there is any supervisor of him, the supervisor is nobody!!! Since this company keeps such a jerk manager, we won't come back again and we will notify all our vendors of the supply chains to switch to New Taiwan wholesale，whom is the competitor of Rivera Food service, but New Taiwan knows much better about how to treat their customers properly!!! read more

Selection isn't the biggest and may not carry the brand you use, but will suffice when you're out of wonton skins or whatever :P. Despite the name, it's more of a asian restaurant supply market. This place is the best! They got food from all over! Even the workers are nice! How ever! There are really rude customers who shop there and they just blame them as a horrible place to shop. Sure the prices are hight but the reason why they are high is because it is a wholesale for resturants. Also, it is not their fault that some people don't understand them. Most of the workers there speak Chinese and there should be no problem with that. There are some workers who speak english there.
