James and I played here on the Sunday before Independence Day. Since he lives in Manchester, NH it's only about an hour drive. We had an 1110a tee time and Frank the starter had us out right on time. This is an exceptional course in my opinion and I've played over 100 courses so far. The tee boxes are all in great condition, the fairway grass is great and the greens are exceptional. Very well manicured and fast. Most of them are not flat and depending on the pin placement will determine you level of difficulty. It's a challenging course and you'll be using every club in your bag. Water comes into play on several holes, either small ponds or creeks and in some cases marsh areas. The fairways are very generous and not a lot of fairway or green side bunkers. I especially liked the elevation changes and the elevated tee boxes The Par 3's are all nice distances and are really fun holes to play. The guy in the ProShop was great and all the Staff we came in contact with were helpful and friendly. The electric carts were good and we had no problem there. There were only a few nits. The driving range only allows hitting off mats only. There is no chipping area but there is a putting area. The asphalt on the cart paths is very broken up and sparse throughout. It's a very scenic and visually appealing course and you will see lot's of wildlife; ground hogs, chipmunks, all types of birds including a full grown turkey. The food options at the club house were disappointing. Even at 1110a they were all out of hotdogs and other hot food options. They have cold pre-made sandwiches which they will microwave for you on request By the time we made the turn, there is a a grill where they are cooking hot dogs and burgers. You have options for adult beverages and other cold drinks. They don't offer a Senior or Veteran discount which was disappointing. The green fee with cart was $115.00 which I thought was a fair price. read more

My brother, dad, and uncle decided to play this course today. Let me just say, this place must have been the best course in Maine 35 years ago. As of today, it no better than the 45 dollar smear of shit on the toilet paper you flushed down the shitter at 8:26 am earlier today. The actual layout of the course is awesome, but the maintenance is ass and grass died before Mussolini. I wouldn't be leaving such a critical review if they charged, say... 45 bucks for 18 and a cart, but 110 dollars is insane for a course i could maintain the same as my backyard golf course without mowing it 6 days a week. I would avoid this course until the rate is under 50 bucks a round. read more

What happened to this course? I played several years ago and it was a gem, not anymore. Very disappointing. With the amount of rain this year I expected it to be in better shape. We played last year 2 x and a lot could be blamed on the heat index of July and September. There is no excuse for the condition on this Friday in June. New owner? New grounds crew? its not being maintained, I've seen old public courses in much better shape. Save your $115 and go else where. $230 with cart for myself and a 1st time buddy is just way too much for the condition. Both are 8 & 9.5 handicappers. All the tees were in bad shape, dead spots, uneven, broken tees from previous days play, clumps of grass and burned out spots with holes. Some of the tee boxes had more divots than grass (#5 & 14) just a real mess. Sand traps were also troubling. Crabgrass growing in some of them, sand is spilling out of some, others lacked sand. Lawn clippings left in some. Almost all were unraked with previous days or weeks footprints. One positive is that some of the traps were "edged" which means some one has looked at them. Others had tall fescue and clover rimming them- uncut. Greens were pitted with ball marks everywhere. Many of the hole cups were not level around the cup causing the ball to break inches from the cup. Previous cup positions were not seated correctly with gaps, often higher than the green surface. Dead areas lacked grass on the greens on some. They just looked bad, ruffed up, damaged what a waste. Some fairways were ok, others had divots and loose divots from previous play days. Some had aeration holes but no apparent over seeding took place. Others had dead areas, no grass, but weeds instead. Certain landing areas were again pitted with divots unfilled. The rough was also very inconsistent, some were cut some were not, some lush and really long in some areas clumped grass pods in others. So Commiserating after the round we found the food of what was available. Nothing sounded terrible appetizing . Shack at the turn was closed. We didn't bother to order. Beers were noticeable expensive $10 for a draft? The bar was noticeable empty, same with the deck. I asked the starter as we were leaving why the course was in such rough shape? He admitted so with a shrug in his shoulders. I can't recommend this course for the premium price they charge. Its a nice layout but going south fast. Had a great round here today. Played 18 in 4 hours, with an 8:10Am tee time, so pace of play was perfect. They layout is really nice. Generally plenty of room to hit driver on the 4's and 5's, but plenty of elevation changes and wood left and right. Everyone in the clubhouse was great. Would 100% play here again read more

Having done quite a bit of golfing this year, I have to say the conditions of the Ledges were amazing. If I were a whiney golfer I guess I would give it 2 stars as the course is quite challenging. The greens are fast, so the lessons I have been taking in putting didn't help too much, but in beautiful condition as well. The views were beautiful. If my golf season is over, I'm happy that my last tee time was at the Ledges as the challenge was worth the price!!! read more

Terrible communication by the Pro Kolton, he refused to help out a non profit with a round of golf after he said he would and also he avoided my calls and e-mails following him stating he would help out and doing this also with regards to the course myself and a group of men used to play down there every single year faithfully. The course is always been in wonderful condition over the past year and a half, since he has taken over as a pro, this course is filled and it's not nowhere near condition. It has been in the past the bar and restaurant is excellent and the bartenders and staff in the restaurant are wonderful.. read more

Absolutely beautiful course in York Maine. We played 2 rounds and could have gone back for more. The staff is nice, beer cart fully stocked. We'd definitely go back for more. read more

Pros: What a beautiful course. Love the ups and downs. Plenty of places to get in trouble although you often 'have a shot'. The staff in the pro shop was top notch and made sure I had everything I needed. Cons: I found it very difficult as a first time player to find accurate yardage's. There are a number of blind shots that would require knowing the course or a 150 yard hike and back to line up a safe shot. Sure would love to see 200/150/100 posts at least. A simple fix. As I got to 7 and then on through 14, where I finally skipped a hole, I was forced to follow this foursome (I was a single walking). Each shot I would stand for minutes watching them goof off, play mound music, smoke, leave their butts behind and generally make asses of them self's. The real downer, they were good at golf and just chose to show no etiquette. Real bummer to see that kind of thing. If I was local I'd consider a membership here. read more

This course is a dog track. Our group was pushing the group in front of us the entire time, waited for them to clear the fairway on the 9th before the turn. The pro came out at 10 and told us we needed to close the gap in front of us after a 2:20 pace for the first 9. We apologized and rushed to the box to hit and then the group that had been in front of us came out of the proshop and were behind us. The pro was too proud to acknowledge his mistake. For a 92 dollar experience, the condition of the course was as disappointing as the attitude of the staff with damaged greens and fairways. Nobody repairs ball marks at this course. I had heard good things about this course which made the experience very disappointing. read more

Never going back nor recommending.....what was once a really nice course and well kept has just gone down hill, tee boxes are a mess. Excessive amount of divots in all landing areas. How can the owners and GM not see this? have they seen other public and semi public courses in the area? Bathrooms are disgusting, the women's especially on the golf course was backup and over flowing. My playing partner said it was like that a month ago & she brought to proshop's and rangers attention attention they didn't seem to care. read more

Played her last week! Could not believe how badly the condition of this course has deteriorated since I last played it! This course has always been challenging and difficult but enjoyable. In their defense, the greens were fine and there was plenty of sand in the bunkers. The lack of sand normally means the course is suffering financially as it is very expensive to continually replace the sand that has washed out in the bunkers. Fairways and tees were particularly bad! I should have known when I saw they had reduced the cost of the green fees that something was amiss! It reminded me of Dunegrass Country Club in Old Orchard Beach. We used to frequent that course and one year we made the 85 mile trek up there and found the course in dis-repair! MAY TRY IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR BUT THE COURSE HAD THE FEEL OF ONE ON LIFE SUPPORT! read more

Played this course while camping at Old Orchard Beach. Went down with 3 friends and we had a great time. The course was in very good shape and it was a fun and challenging layout. Well worth the trip down from OOB! read more
