Decoration was clean and simple (not to be mistaken for cold and sterile like a lot of other places) with bits of chic elements (I.e., modern crystal/glass chandelier, cute manicure chairs, cool sliding doors to separate waxing room, sleek glass tile front desk). * The girl who did my pedicure was super cute and really friendly. Had a nice chat with her. And super detailed with pedicure. * Not only her, but everyone here is just so friendly and nice. It was definitely a pleasant surprise. There was a steady stream of customers coming in but it didn't feel chaotic. Though it might have been because it was the 4th of July weekend and maybe most people were traveling. In all honesty, I had one of the worst experiences here when I first came about a year ago -- I was left at the pedicure chair for 15 mins without attention, then had my manicure halfway finished before being left again for 10, minutes. Since then, I've been back to give it another try and I really appreciate Annie and the work she does. I used to love coming here. I had been a customer for 7+ years. I don't know what happened but the quality has gone down hill. The price is also not consistent. The past 4 times I've been here I've been extremely disappointed. I havnt been getting what I've asked for.Today I tried to give it another try. I came in with a picture of exactly what I wanted done with my nail for the shape and quality. I even verbally told the lady; I want coffin shaped and I want the nails as thin as possible with very sharp corners. I don't know what shape she attempted to do but the corners are round and the nail is the opposite of thin. They look like bubbles almost. She clumped the acrylic gel on. Hardly filed it to shape and even after telling her this isn't what I wanted-FOUR TIMES, and how I wanted it fixed; I gave up. I paid $50 for the worst nails in my life. Also- not to mention... she made me bleed twice and didn't even acknowledge it when I said "oww" I am very disappointed. Weird experience. My friends and I made appointments for 7pm and walked in on time. We got this really strange look from some woman that worked there and we were so confused. The owner said come in and pick your color. We did and then we had great pedicures. The girl that gave us the weird look continued to act annoyed and lazy walking around the place with a weird look and strange body language. She gave the worst pedicure as she said rude comments about one of my friends feet, like "these are old people feet! Do you run barefoot?" And more. So strange! The pedicures for the other two of us were actually great. The massages were a bit short, but overall it was fine. Honestly, I will probably never go back because of that one girl and weird atmosphere that was created by some of the workers. I went here for the first time yesterday because my nail tech wasn't available and I was in a pinch. As soon as you walk in your starred at until you walk up to someone or make direct eye contact. I felt super rushed, and uncomfortable. The worst part about it is the lady rang me up, THEN asked if I wanted to tip on card, and I did. So she "canceled" it and ran my card again. Turns out she never canceled it. I was very upset by the way they handled this. They lied and said it'll be back in my account by tomorrow.. it still isn't. They didn't give me a copy of my receipt but my bank statements match up to my story. Please do NOT go here if you're looking for a day to relax it isn't worth it, and I want a refund ASAP. I called today to talk to the owner, (lady who did my nails) and of course she "wasn't in today" when I heard the female who answered the phone talk to her.. I was disgusted by this behavior, and truly very disappointed as I said earlier. They are VERY quick to take your money AND rip you off, but not quick to fix their mistake and give me my money back. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Maya worked on my no-chip manicure and she did an AMAZING job!!! Best manicure I've ever received. I will talk a little about my experience today in this salon because I did not give it a good review. I went in the salon with my 4 year old daughter. She loves going to the salon and was very excited to pick her favorite color for her nails. When the lady came to help us, I think her name was Nina she asked us to sit down and pick the color and handed me 2 color books. I opened one and my daughter opened the other. Right away she came back and started yelling at me that my daughter couldn't touch the book. I said sorry and I took the book from my daughter but she still kept yelling at me. My mother and I go to get our nails done together its our thing for a long time we went to LEE NAILS in Des Plaines but we got sick of making appointments and watching them take other walk-ins they knew better in front of us and literally waiting hours. Many times we went there just because I thought Nina did a good job even though my mom hated it. BUT then Nina got lazy greedy and rude. My nails started looking like the the eight year old cashier did them. The final straw was the day I had to leave early and they over charged my mother ALOT for the two of us because I wasn't there to call them on it! That day also Nina cut me so bad I got an infection from their dirty equipment. If you make an appointment expect to wait at least 15minutes. When you make an appointment then you should be seen at that time not 15-20 minutes later. Not only do you wait but they DO NOT sanitize any of their instruments and when you get a pedicure, or your nails done they don't even use new nail files, clippers or the the stones or files that they roughen up your nails with before and after placing the nails on. THiS IS A HEALTH CONCERN and they should be using new ones for each client which they DO NOT! So what they used on the previous people they are using on you without sanitizing them. Your chances of getting a fungal infection is HIGH THERE. Not only that but the owner seems to bring her two children there and let them run and scream around the place. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND looking elsewhere to go get your nails done. read more
