Definitely would not recommend if you are looking to get a fun service done with a group but great if you just want a quick service. We both felt like the treatment wasnt terrible but there were too many different things going on and not enough time was focused on the scalp and shoulders to relax. Though I enjoyed seeing Grace on some of my previous visits, I found Patrycja really listened to me and provided a fantastic experience. I have been a client of Carrie's for a couple of years now. I typically have facials every couple of months but last week I decided to try something new so I booked a body wrap with her. I didn't regret it. It was both relaxing and energizing and I absolutely loved it. So now in addition to having a facial every couple of months I plan to have a body scrub every couple of months. Based on the fabulous reviews and intrigued by Groupon's "Warm Bamboo and Hot Stone" massage at Orawan, heck, why not... If you can, try to get in a bit earlier to enjoy the tea and cookies provided by the masseuse. The massage and the attention to detail to making you comfortable like scenting a specific aromatherapy, temperature of the mat, music and light was fantastic, I nearly fell asleep at times. I wasn't a huge fan of the bamboo tool, imagine you're a piece of dough trying to be flatten out by a wooden dowel. Interesting concept and I'm glad I got to try it out via a discount. Well this was my first time coming here for a facial and honestly, it was a great place. Nice staff, nice greeting. Very clean. Professional. But I don't think i would come back here personally. I came to get a facial this Saturday by Carrie! She was honestly wonderful. Nice in general. My face got burned from the products and I now have scarring. It might just be the fact I have sensitive skin(I don't think I do). I never had this happen to other places I've been. I'm honestly really sad. I was already self conscious about my skin. And was only able to hide it with my makeup. And now with the burns I can't even do that. I never really cried over my skin. But now I have no way to hide it. Orawan is simply put a treat of a spa in Arlington Heights. My girlfriend and I have made it ritual to get massages when I return to Chicago to visit this time we came across Orawan on Groupon and decided to try it out. I was welcomed with the door opened as I walked towards the building. Julia, my masseuse asked me to complete a health questionnaire and allowed me to use the bathroom prior to our starting. Then we went into the room which I immediately felt was extremely tranquil as great attention was paid to detail. Julia seems to be very experienced and excels at her task. Her hands are very strong but she is very intuitive of pressure and when that turns into tenderness. She mentioned she does stretching with problem areas and I allowed her to play it by ear after assessing my status. I felt that worked out best. I was relaxed to the point of falling asleep several times through out. I have extremely ticklish soles of my feet and I appreciated her ability to address them without making me overly tensed. The aroma therapy (I chose pomegranate essential oil), hot stones and hot towels were all great touches. Soft music plays in the background but I wasn't offered the ability to change it. Upon her completion, she allowed me to take my time in the room and left a moist warm towel to wipe away any excess lotion or oil. As for the details, the room was warm as was the bed. There was an accent chair for sitting/dressing with tea steeping for me as was a spa water with fruit immediately next to it. On the other side of the room there was some trail mix nuts. Areas for opportunity would be to offer a water bottle at completion as most places do since water is greatly encouraged after such lactic acid release. The snack tray should be immediately next to the water and tea, I may have missed it if I hadn't looked around. Orawan is located in JC Salons in the North Point Shopping Center (a strip mall) on Arlington Heights Road. There's ample parking immediately outside the establishment. Open 7 days a week with late evening hours. Groupons are for new customers only. I will most definitely be recommending it! read more

I had a Groupon (surprise!) for the bamboo and hot stone massage. I was very excited to try it, considering I had only had regular Swedish massages pretty much every single time. Julia was my masseuse and she was very gentle and patient. She went over the process with me and what to expect. She said it's not for extended muscle relief (like deep tissue would be) but it's more of a relaxing, fun massage. I was all for it. She offered me some aromatherapy and after I undressed and got on the table, we began. The massage itself was very interesting. I had always wanted to try hot stone and it was pretty epic. It was very relaxing. The bamboo part was also neat to experience. I felt like I was being rolled out like sugar cookie dough. Very fun and very worth it. All in all, I would say try Orawan out. The treatment room is comfortable in lighting, music, aromas, heated bed, and noise canceling machine to block out any background noise.
