Went the first time looking for a new PYO experience. Small farm but well maintained. We were lucky we came early in the season and weekend since the fruits were all gone by the weekend after. Only regret we didn't buy more because we finished all the fruits we bought after 2 days. Definitely going to visit them again next season and will put in the yearly visit rotation. We went on Monday, September 1st, right after opening weekend (first day was August 28th) this year. We just moved to the state and were looking at ways to explore and this popped up randomly. We made a quick decision on Thursday to go. You purchase admission tickets online ($5 per person) and choose a time slot. The earliest time slot was the last time slot on Monday and we decided to take it. We're a family of 4 and everyone who enters has to pay admission, even if you don't pick. I'm not sure if this applies to infants/babies, of which I saw a few. This place is located just outside of Princeton and I'm not sure how many people they let in per time slot but it was crowded, though not overly so. There is a small road (don't go fast or it's easy to miss) and the driveway is small too. It's not a legitimate parking lot but you basically park wherever you find space in what is essentially the front yard. There was a bit of a struggle at one point with people wanting to park versus leave/back up at the same time, but it's doable. We later discovered there is another parking area a little further down the road... or at least we spotted people parking there and walking over. There were no signs about additional parking. You walk in and someone checks you off on their list. You'll get these paper "tickets" and are pointed towards buckets with bags in them and, if there's one available, there are wagons to lug your pear buckets around. The lady was nice enough to grab a wagon that some older kids were playing with and I lugged my kids around in them along with a bucket. They didn't really say much so we just observed at first. They open two rows of pears and there are ladders scattered down each row for your convenience. The place was crawling with people, a vast majority Asian. A few were munching on pears, which you aren't supposed to do unless it's from their tasting station. When we went, they were completely out of their hybrid and hosui pear varieties - not that I knew the difference - so they only had apple pears left. Most of them were round and ripened to a yellow/golden brown but some of them had a funny shape that reminded me of apples. I was a little disappointed that they were already out of the other pear varieties when it's only been 4 days; I had hoped I'd get to see them all. As I mentioned, there's a table where the people peel and cut up pears for you to sample. These were pretty sweet and pretty much tasted like the "Korean pears" you can get at the market. With the exception of one piece (out of 3) that I tasted that was on the tart side. The rules that I came up with is the ripe pears are the ones that are a ripe brown color and the higher they are, the more ideal. It's easier said than done because with the natural light that filters through, shadows, and sun rays that go into your eyes when you look up, everything sort of looks brown. Then you pick it (you don't need anything but your hand as they sort of twist off) and realize it wasn't as brown as you thought. We filled up about half of our bucket since it was only us and we didn't want to buy so much and have them spoil. Most others filled at least 1-1/2 buckets. These are sold by weight at $4.50/lb. Our half bucket was about $37. The party in front of me with their 1-1/2 buckets full paid about $125. The line to pay probably took the longest. They also sell chestnuts ($7/lb) as well as some other fruits. All in all, we were there for just about an hour. It was an interesting experience! I'm not a huge fruit person, but I do enjoy Asian pears. Ironically, my kid who loves fruit does not like these pears but my picky kid loves these. We've eaten a few of the pears at home by more and size doesn't mean anything. They're quite sweet and juicy! I think it's a pretty fun experience, especially if you're guaranteed almost all of them will be good. Are they cheaper than the store? No. But if you buy over $50 worth, you'll be credited your admissions cost. I just wish they had all the varieties. A solid place for a fun experience and delicious fruit! read more

Lee Orchard Garden is a great excursion from NYC and a very worthwhile experience for picking your own fruit or ordering it in advance. They have a few pear varietals and the apple pear is the one they plant and sell the most. They also grow and sell dates, but that season does not overlap with pear picking, so you may not be able to buy dates when you visit for pears. It takes New Jersey Transit a little over an hour from Penn Station in NYC to reach Princeton Junction, where you can order an Uber to the Lee Orchard Garden, about ten minutes ride from Princeton Junction. You will have to reserve your time on the weekends to pick your own pears or reserve a pre-picked box of pears. The pre-picked box will weigh 18-20 pounds priced at $4.50 per pound as of the end of Summer 2025. You'll pay nearly a hundred, but my box had about 23 giant apple pears. If you have purchased pears at a Korean grocer, you will pay as much as ten to twelve bucks each last time I checked about three years ago pre-inflation. If you are comparing the Lee Orchard experience on price alone, you are paying less than half that pre-inflation grocer rate. Lee Orchard apple pears are huge, delightfully sweet and very juicy. They are not overly sweet and have a crispness that remains for three weeks or more, especially if you refrigerate them, which is how I enjoy the apple pears, skin on. Slice and enjoy the quality at a better price than your grocer. I ate one a day and it marked a great and refreshing conclusion to the summer. The pear season is from roughly the very end of August and the first three weeks of September, sometimes longer. Date season starts just after pear season ends, unless the pear season runs long. I wish I could order the dates from the City, but as of this review, one has to go to Lee Orchard to purchase the dates in person. They don't mail them to you at this time. The proprietors operate a very nice little farm garden. I can see children enjoying the experience as much as adults. You will receive a five dollar credit toward your purchase for your five dollar reservation fee charged initially when you reserve your picking time or pre-ordered box on their website on Tuesdays. They are gracious, answer your questions, and assist you while at the farm. They even offer free samples of their pears to those picking the pears. 4.5 stars! read more

Excellent place to go Korean pear picking. The season for this is in the fall by the way. The pears here were some of the sweetest, crispest and most delicious I've had. The environment is very nice and clean. It costs $10 per person to get in but for every $50 of pears you buy you can deduct $5 per admission ticket from your party. read more

First time Asian pear picking ever and it was good experience. This is a small orchard and looks like a family owned business. You book you picking time slot and pay for entry online to secure your time. Arrive early prior to your reservation with your party. Parking is a bit tight but no worries Mr. Lee will direct parking traffic if parking begins to be packed. At the fence, mentioned your party name when your reservation time is near and Mr. Lee will check off your name and number of party off his registered list, providing your party ticket stubs. Hold onto those tickets as each will be $5 dollars off for every $40 worth of pears purchased and trust me with $4.59 a pound, you'll ring up some very delicious and expensive Asian pears like we and many other did. Asian pears are delicious, sweet and mouth watering. An employee will slice the pears for you to sample before you pick. There's two types of Asian pears when we went to pick. Yes, all pears are weighed at the same price. I enjoyed the apple and Asian pear hybrid. It was sweet. They also have grapes but I was too sour for my liking. Slow down as you approach Lee Orchard Garden because you might miss it. While this place just looks like someone's giant backyard, it offers some of sweetest Asian pears I've ever tasted (likely because they were picked fresh off the tree). While they charge a small entrance fee, that was offset if you purchased more than 10 pounds of pears. The staff here are very knowledgeable about how to pick the best pears without causing damage to the tree, the fruit, or yourself. The trees are thankfully not too tall, and we were able to find the best (yellowest) pears with a ladder. They carefully crafted the environment so that all the fruit was within reach of a ladder (which they had plenty of). Other orchards will provide poles, which can be tricky if you're clumsy. The staff already had pre-sliced pears for us to try. The only two times I've been fruit picking, I have not encountered any pre-sliced fruit samples. That in turn lead to people picking the fruits, taking a few bites and then throwing them away on the ground to rot. By providing the pre-sliced pears, this minimizes waste and does not produce odors. Go support this small family owned business. They're friendly and provide fresh delicious fruit. I visited Lee Orchard Garden the day before they closed for the season. These past few months, I had the urge to go apple picking but never got the chance. I saw this place on TikTok and immediately booked tickets for myself and my family. The pear picking season ended on October 29th, and I visited on the 28th, but every tree was completely packed with ripe Korean Pears (Apple Pears.) The pears were huge! They were so juicy too, I was making a mess while eating one in the car. Even the skin of the pear is really thin so it's like you're biting into a sweet crunchy watermelon. This is a family owned farm, and the people who work here were really kind to us. They were constantly cutting a bunch of pears into pieces so everyone was getting free samples during their visit. Right next to the pear trees, they have grapevines. I asked one of the people working there if my family would walk through the grapevines and they let us try some too! The grapes had seeds and were a little sour, but honestly I loved them. If you keep the tickets they gave you and if your total is over $40, then they deduct the money you spent on the tickets from your subtotal. We paid around $60 for 20 pounds of pears. It's a little expensive, but I think it's worth the price for the experience you get. I can't wait to come back here next year when they have more varieties of pears available and sweeter grapes! read more

The orchard is organized (though not very big), the staff are friendly and helpful, and there are ladders to help you reach taller branches. The pears are sweet, big, and in great shape. There is a $5 entrance fee but that is reimbursed if you pick $40 of fruits. My family loves Asian pears but struggled to find sweet ones at a decent price in the markets by us so to be able to find an orchard where we can pick them right off the tree is great. We picked about 56 pounds of pears and it came out to $207 and change after the reimbursement. The trip is well worth it and the orchard is worth visiting again. read more

Overall, looks like a small place almost like someone's backyard, but I am sure I was just in the front area. They sell Asian pears at $2.50 per pound - already picked or you can go into the field for $5 and pick your own if you want and pay $2.50 per pound, but no backpacks and no eating while out there. If I could give a zero star, I would have, not about the pears but about the owner's rudeness and disrespectful behavior. I went there once, half for fun and half for the pears. When the owner saw I had some picked pears in the buckets and some in the cart, he asked me what was going to do with the ones in the cart. I responded I hadn't sort them yet. I might have a few to leave for the tasting stand. I told him I understand how hard it was to keep an orchard, and nothing should go waste. After a few exchanges, he said I either had to take them all or none of them. I was getting upset as he just kept on nagging even when I said I would take all that I had picked. All I wanted was for him to leave me alone and not ruin the trip. As there was no point of continuing, given he completed ruined the mood and making it appeared I had done something wrong, I started to leave. To top of the insult, he actually had a worker following me to the checkout. The worker was rude and started to call the owner when I asked him to stop following me. I found myself walking into beautiful trees of golden colored pears, what a beautiful sight. If you come here early (opens at 9), you will be the only ones here, perfect if you're trying to avoid crowds, or if you don't wanna find yourself scrambling for a ladder. Came to Lee Orchard garden for the first time yesterday. I read reviews on how the owner is a very grumpy old lady and indeed she was. She was very strict about backpacks, absolutely no backpacks even if you want to carry water or snacks for your young children. We had to put the water bottles in the 5 gallon orange home depot buckets that they provided for collecting your pears. Small pocket books were allowed. Strollers were allowed as well. There is a 5 dollar charge per person (kids and adults included). As I remember, If you buy 30+ lbs of pears you get $10 back. If you fill the whole 5gallon bucket its about $70. $2.50/lb Cash only! I didn't like that they weigh the buckets with the pears in it. The bucket was a good 2-4 lbs in my opinion. It's a small garden. Expect to see several asian pear trees. I believe there were grapes available but the season was probably over when we were there. No other activities like what you're use to seeing with apple picking. They do sell other pears that are already picked and dates. One portapotty in the whole garden. Small parking lot. There are limited wagons provided to you at no extra charge No store for snacks or any other food. Basically pick your pears and go. We went early so we finished by lunchtime and went to near by restaurant for lunch. 1-2 hours is plenty of time to get your pears. Some pears were very sweet others not so much. they have ladders in each aisle to help with reaching the higher trees. Overall an ok experience despite encounters with the mean old lady (i understand where she is coming from though--she is just trying to protect her garden) With that said, I'm not sure if I would go back next year. read more

I'm surprised this place doesn't get more Yelp reviews. Took some time to find, but once you get inside, everything is organized into neat sections. One thing that can be improved upon are the toilets. They only have one porter potty for use amongst everyone so sometimes there is a bit of a wait, and it's not cleaned often. Softball-sized, juicy, sweet, crisp Asian pears! $2.50/lb cash-only, but no admission or parking fees. Parking for about 20-30 cars. Only one variety of pear but there were about 30 rows of trees, each about 150' long. There were rows of grape vines as well, but were picked through and only small tart grapes remained at the beginning of October. They provide orange 5-gal Home Depot buckets, which hold about 25 lbs so expect to pay about $55-60 per bucket full. Limited garden wagons available so BYO if you're planning to get multiple buckets worth. A few ladders are available too, which are helpful this late in the season cuz all the really big pears are just out of reach- even when using an extra bucket as a stool. If not, there were still plenty of average-sized pears within reach by hand. Just rating this place 4-stars cuz they had only one checkout table and scale. The line was well over 20 people deep on a Sunday afternoon. The process was slow cuz buckets had to be carefully emptied (the fruit bruises easily) into the scale's small basket, so the contents of a full bucket had to be weighed in 2-3 batches. Only one Porta-John on premise so there was a line for that as well. All in all, it was a fun and delicious way to spend an afternoon with the family! Definitely worth the trip. read more
