Also, it was infested with these giant black. Nat fly type things. Hundreds of them. Huge, thick cobwebs all over the place. The shower curtain had black mold or dirt on it. UPDATE: we stayed in the morning glory cottage 6/12/21 to 6/15/22. While the management company was super to deal with, the ant issue really put a damper on the vacation. After the first night they dropped off the spray and that took cate of all the ants. There were way too many to have been handled with just traps. Also, the bathrooms really need new mirrors. On the positive side of things, this was close to the park, the upstairs bedroom fan really cooled the upper level and the breakfast room was really nice. read more

We own a cottage in the Glen Arbor area. We arranged for a "spring cleaning" in 2021 and they did a nice job. This year (2022) they did a cursory job at best: the top of the refrigerator and mantel were not cleaned, and sand was left on the bathroom floor. Many dead insects and cobwebs were left untouched. When the invoice was mailed to us I returned payment with a note detailing the above oversights and my disappointment with their work. I received no call or other reply. My check was cashed and that was that! I will not call them again or recommend them. An employee can have a bad day, but not at least reaching out and apologizing is inexcusable. read more

Our rental was charming, comfortable, clean, and ideally located. The staff was friendly and kind. We really loved and gobbled up the cherry gummy bears they gave us upon checkout. It's the fist time we've ever had a vacation rental that required we check in with an office to get keys instead of a keypad located at the rental, but it all worked out. I'm glad we did not let that minor inconvenience deter us. We will most definitely be back and book directly via their site instead of VRBO next time. Leelanau Vacation Rental customer service seems lacking. It appears that you listen to concerns but somethings go on deaf ear. Our grand daughter got her leg trapped in a bad board on the dock; you sent someone out to replace 11 bad boards. The repairman stated the dock, "has seen better days and unsafe". Bathroom over the garage has been leaking for a few years. In summer 2021 there was a slip and fall due to the water on the garage floor. The fall resulted in a family member going to the Emergency room for a fractured bone in their foot. We did not make a big deal because we do realizes accidents happen. In 2022 the bathroom leak is still not fixed and mold is growing in the rafters. When we spoke about the situation again this year you indicated nothing could be done; the owner was aware of the problem and it was up to the owner to remedy the situation. Our contract this year indicated air conditioning was in the upstairs bedrooms, however only two of the three had air. The website description does not match our signed contract. You had no problem in breaching the contract. If we would of damaged something we would have been charged. You weren't willing to do anything, at least you could of refunded the damage deposit. We have been renting in Glen Arbor for approximately 30 years and absolutely love the area. We have never had issues like this until your company took over management of the rental. We are desired renters and treat the rentals like our own. Rentals for a family our size usually cost between $5,200-10,000/week. The rental price continues to rise without any improvements. There are safety issues at Bricker Cottage and maybe you will wake up when you get sued because someone gets really hurt. We are very disappointed in your company' response and can no longer overlook the issues. I'm sure you will continue to rent this cottage to someone other than my family. Rented a cottage from Leelanau Vacation Rentals. I also signed an agreement Then Components of the agreement were not provided, I asked and was told not possible to provide. I then asked "to be clear you are not willing to anything to attempt to make me happy" LVR (Renee) stated that`s correct. I said its unfortunate you will not stand behind you agreement. I`ll bet if I broke a part of the agreement, LVR would not hesitate to charge me more. We have been vacationing at this cottage for many years. Originally renting direct from the owner, who have been more than great. 4 Years ago the owners let LVR manage the property. In the last 4 years the property rental has gone up more than $2000.00 a week with no improvements to the cottage. Next year this property will go up another $700.00 a week. Beware!! Booked a 4 night vacation rental with this company through Vrbo and received our confirmation for mid August. Received an email later that week saying that this property doesn't rent for less than a week. Then why do you have it set up in VRBO for a min of 2 nights? They say that is how their system is set up (False). Feels like a BAIT and SWITCH tactic to get full week rentals. When discussing this with Angie on the phone she flat out said "we have to look out for our customers". I asked her who her customers where and she said the property owners. Of course they want to make the property owners happy but it tells you a lot about what they think about the renters who actually stay at those properties. I followed up with an email asking if they have approached the property owner to see if our 4 day stay would be allowed - no response, just got a cancelation notice. I'll steer clear of this company going forward. This is my first ever negative review and wouldn't have written it if I had not felt so slighted. I hope it helps them change their ways. read more

I wanted to take my daughters on a Covid-friendly get-away, so we went to Glen Arbor. Our stay at Loggers Run 28 was ideal. View from condo was glorious, and it was fully appointed. We brought in our groceries and ate in our condo. Weather perfect so we went on several walks / hikes where we could socially distance. The unit had it all and the folks at Leelanau Vacation Rentals were incredibly accommodating. We asked if we could extend our rental and once my daughter actually locked us out. This review isn't directly for LVR, but for one of the rental properties they rep -- CRO's Terrapin Station. We've rented from LVR for the past 20 or so years, and most of the rentals have been average or better. I'd give LVR at least a four-star review. The location on Big Glen Lake is good and swimable, whereas many of the east side rentals further north of this rental are either too rocky or mucky. However, the pier needs to be replaced (old, shaky and splinter city for the feet), the lake side cottage (there are two) smells bad -- thankfully I brought essential oils to combat the "stinky" smell -- as per my littlest grandkid. The cottages are both "mini" houses as described by my little grandkids (oldest is seven years), the bathroom in the front cottage is so tiny your knees are almost in the shower stall when (ahem) seated, and the vanity is one of those 18" ones that holds nothing. Yes, there's a wall cabinet, but still. The first floor is so cut up it feels claustrophobic. There is an upstairs loft with two queen beds, but I'd recommend them only for pre-teens or teens; it's too "scary" for little ones, the floors are loud and creaky, and the stairs very steep and narrow thus difficult for older persons who may need to navigate them at night. And the beds. Wow. Could you buy a cheaper mattress, and the same one for all of the beds? Maybe, but for what the owner charges for this rental they should be replaced. Terrible. The adults all had awful backaches after one night much less seven, difficulty sleeping on them (stiff, no support, old, ugh), and resorted to more wine with dinner in order to get some sleep. And chiropractic appointments once back home. There is a five-star review for this rental on VRBO, but I suspect it was from an owner or relative of same. No way is this a five-star rental. For $4,200 plus tax etc, the rental was about $4,800. At nearly $700 per night, it was so not worth it. read more

I am giving this property one star because it was clean (enough) and easy access to downtown. The house is dingy, had a mildew odor, and the amenities have minimal comfort. It is far from luxurious. We were 8 sleeping over, we had 1 traveling size soap bar, the liquid soap dispenser was almost empty, no extra towels. We are not pleased with the managing team and feel we could have not much better with another booking. Also the manager (Renae?) was quite insulting and rude when it came up that we wanted to host a family dinner. Arrived to find a major ant problem in Beach Walk 3/4. Very large black ants were dead all over the rooms and continued to appear throughout our trip - floors, showers, walls...one fell in my hair. Live traps were everywhere. Called upon arrival and they sent someone over to sweep the piles of dead ants...no additional cleaning. Sent follow up email that first evening. Zero follow up from main office or cleaning dept. Told them upon key drop off and sent another follow up email...and still no call in response to our complaint. They clearly knew there was a major ant problem Utterly disgusting. Would not recommend. If you want to vacation with ants, you would be better off camping and save yourself $500/night. read more

Wonderful business! This place has saved my family more times than can be counted. My whole family lives up in this area and we've asked this company to do many different (sometimes even odd) tasks for us regarding our condos and they've always done it and did a great job! I got locked out of my condo and the rest of my family was gone a while ago so they gave me their key they had on hand (after verifying who I was first!) and totally saved my butt! Also asked them to do random things before like moving a couch for us and greet service companies for us when we wouldn't be home. EDIT: Even after the crazy storm, we only had very minor damage but LVR was there the same day we asked them to come out to repair our screens and had them returned and replaced within 2 hours of us going to to office. Not only has this business helped us find our wonderful homes but also helped us out along the way. =) read more

Recently stayed at 24 Loggers Run for a friends weekend getaway. The house was beyond our expectations. Although the house is centrally located in The Homestead Resort, it felt very secluded surrounded by woods and the views from the house were beautiful. The house was very clean and well-equipped with everything we needed for a great weekend. Check-in and out from LVR was super easy. Highly recommend the place for a vacation! read more

We love the Glen Arbor/Sleeping Bear area and LVR Rentals. Have rented several different places as our family has grown and ALWAYS have excellent service. ABOVE IT ALL was our location this year for our family of 11 and it was amazing! Pros-1. huge open kitchen/living/eating area on main level with gorgeous views from every vantage point. 2. The view the view the view 3. Huge dining table for our big family AND outdoor table as well. 3. Three bedrooms up split style with master and spacious en-suite. 4. Lower level bunk room for the kids with great sectional and walk out. 5. Secluded location but so close to town. 6. Kitchen has everything you could need from appliances to table settings for large groups. 7. Those Adirondack chairs and the deck-great for mornings and evenings. 8. Ample parking space. 9. AC when needed. 10. Spacious laundry and mud room so convenient for beach trips and storage. 11. Lots of hooks for clothes and towels. Cons- 1. Had a cleaning issue first day but LVR resolved it quickly and went above and beyond (no pun intended). 2. Mildew smell when AC is on. 3. Too much personal clutter from owner sitting around. 4. Need a few more trash cans to accommodate max occupancy. 5. Gas grill would be more convenient. 6. Some windows don't open and it would be nice to have a screen in the patio door in master. 7. We had a wonderful weekend accommodations at the Homestead, our reservations went without a hitch. Leelanau Vacation Rentals were gracious and attentive and made sure we had good directions to our rental plus an array of things to do while in the area. The fall colors are perfect in mid-October so we loved Autumn at its best. The Salmon were spawning so we had a wonderful hike along the Crystal River to watch the fisherman moving along the clearest of waters. The miles of beaches were a bit chilly but we enjoyed the great views of the Manitou Islands and a trip to the Sleepy Bear Dunes. We are definitely coming back in the summer to enjoy the other activities offered in the area such as biking on the many paths, canoeing down the Crystal River, Hiking the many trails, or Fishing in the cool rivers plus we can't forget Golfing at the Homestead. We stayed in the beautiful town of Glen Arbor over the past week. My family, my sister's family and my mom - a group consisting of 3 kids under 5 (and 1 under 1) - decided to split the cost of the house instead of exchanging Christmas gifts this year. We checked in on Sunday August 2nd 2015 - 10 minutes before a storm came through and ravaged the entire town. The storm took out thousand of trees (my estimate) and left the entire area all the way to Traverse city without power. The house across the street lost 10 trees and was damaged and several large trees made the road impassable about 50 yards away. The entire town remained without power until Friday afternoon and power and water was restored to our unit on Friday evening. The entire town really came together, cutting trees and clearing roads. Arts Tavern and their generator and running toilets and delicious breakfast were a god send. The town hall was open to all and had bathrooms, some food and hot coffee in the mornings. So now on to Leelanau Vacation Rentals - not once did anyone come to check on us, make sure we were ok, that we had water, that we knew about the resources available, let us know what options were available. The only communication we received was an email to current and upcoming rentals that was MUCH more focused on ensuring that the future rentals didn't cancel vs. ensuring that the current renters were ok/alive. On Wednesday we all decided that we couldn't take it any more without a shower and checked into a 2 rooms at hotel in Traverse city for the night. Prior to leaving we checked in at the office as they were finally "open" to inquire as to our options. A confused seeming, but pleasant employee told us that if we had left earlier we could have been given a full refund, but now they were likely giving 50%. We asked several questions with different scenerios, but she was unable to really elaborate. On Friday, prior to getting power back, we stopped in again and spoke to the owner. She was incredibly rude during the entire conversation, stated that they could give a 50% discount (but I feel confident that no money would have been offered if we had not asked). She stated that since they didn't cause the issue that they shouldn't have to comp anything. I stated that even at a 50% discount that still amounted to paying over $100/night for camping plus our increased costs for hotel rooms, eating out, ruined food, etc. She stated that the Homestead was not giving any discounts. I offered to pay the full nightly rate for the days with power (Friday and Saturday) and the most expensive camping rate at DH Day campground for the other days - $40/day. This owner was more interested in ensuring she got every dime possible out of us regardless of how satisfied we were. She had nothing but excuses and was extremely rude as we tried to work out a solution that would be mutually beneficial. So far, despite having been told that the rental rate would be 50% I have not received a refund to my credit card even though power has been restored for 2 full days. I have every expectation that the only way i'm getting that money back is if I call there and request it AGAIN. Please do go visit Glen Arbor, but DO NOT rent from this company - they don't care about their renters at all once they have your money. read more

Very nice on the phone while they're taking your money. Zero customer service. They don't give you the keys to your rental until you're paid in full. My rental was not ready on time. When we finally got in, it was infested with mice. They said I could expect that in Northwest Michigan. When I complained about the peeling paint, filth everywhere, and writing on the walls of our rental, they referred to it as "wear & tear." When I complained about the unsanitary old toothbrushes cemented with toothpaste to the inside of a bathroom drawer, dirty dishes left in the dishwasher, dirty towels, cockroaches crawling across the walls, and mouse poop in the house, I was told by the manager/owner, nothing would make me happy and if I didn't like it, I could leave. Easier said than done with a party of 7 on July 4th week during the Cherry Festival. We spent a whole day cleaning the unit to the best of our ability. We stayed there because we had no where else to go. The property was dilapidated, smelled of mold, and the landscaping was completely overgrown. Looked like it hadn't been taken care of in years. Do not rent from these people unless you have someone check the property out first, in person. read more

I have been vacationing at the Homestead for 20+ years. The property is slowly decling as is the quality of the customer service. As a result of my recent experience with LVR this will be the last time I use this company. The simple room was outdated and minimally serviceable. However, the windows were filthy, insects trapped in spider webs in every corner of the unit...and to top it all off when stripping the bed upon departure I discovered the source of my unusually bad allergies. The bed pillows were moldy!!! Seeing other posts that include pictures, I wish I could have overcome my shock and taken photos as well. I did however take the pillows directly to the LVR office upon check out. Their reaction was less than caring and after waiting more than a week for follow-up and or a formal apology, I am compelled to share this situation to warn other potential renters of what to be on the lookout for. I must also agree with the sentiment of other posts that LVR cares most about getting paid and minimally about the customer. read more

We rented a condo at The Homestead from these people. The Homestead property is beautiful, but the housekeeping and cleanliness of the condo was atrocious. The place wasn't vacuumed. We found popcorn, rubber bands and old socks strewn about. The laundry from the previous occupants was still in the hamper. The decks weren't clean. There was someone's medicine on one of the beds that my son tried to eat (I assume this also means the sheets were never cleaned.) Overall, unacceptable, especially considering the price we paid. read more

This rental company is the worst!! Went up for a family wedding, expecting to have a 3 bedroom 21/2 bath house. Got a 2 bedroom (one bedroom had to be accessed though the other bedroom) and a loft. When called they offered another 2 bedroom, 1 loft condo. No one seemed concerned that what they had promised wasn't given. And when we tried to insist we wanted what they had promised the owner called to say we had been rude and disruptive to her staff. And we could choose either place, but they closed at 5 if we wanted the keys. REALLY??? What unbelievably bad customer service!! We ended up with the second condo which was dirty, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, fabric ripped on furniture and the portacrib was broken and had to be replaced. NEVER AGAIN!!! Glen Arbor and the Homestead are beautiful places to vacation. Just be sure to never use this agency for a place to stay. I wish I could give it negative stars. read more

HORRIBLE! We rented for our family reunion on Lake Michigan in one of their most expensive rentals *(this summer) and it was bug invested while also dirty. The claim to being "owner" we spoke too was extremely excuse driven and RUDE. I will never let my parents EVER rent from them again. We love Northern Michigan but this rental company is a scam. Go local and direct with the owners. We actually heard the husband of the owner talk about how he could hike up prices of unit fee's at the nearby homestead! SCAM SCAM SCAM...
