***Very Dog Friendly*** This quaint, roadside motel is exactly where you need to spend your quite weekend in Northern Michigan! Feel free to bring your furry friend because their rate of $10 a night for a pet can't be beaten! I know my dog personally enjoyed open space in the rear of the complex. Check in was super smooth, and they texted me to check in. The key was waiting in the room for me when we were ready after 4. The room had amenities such as Wi-Fi, fridge, microwave, and TV. The sheets were soft and clean. I did wish we had more and/or better pillows. The provided ones were small squares that had very little support. read more

I have mixed feelings... I liked that they had an almost full size fridge and a big yard area to hangout and a view (across m-22) of the bay. I am skeptical of the cleanliness of this place! Under the bed was really dirty and we found a pacifier and a pop bottle that were not ours.. just makes me wonder what else isn't cleaned! Ew! read more

Wow! I'm pretty sure this is the nicest "motor lodge" I've ever seen! While cute and tidy, it doesn't really look like anything special from the outside but the rooms are a delightful surprise! Our room was large and clean with nice new-looking soft carpet, no musty smell (even on a wet April day) and has about all the amenities you need. (We were in room 4) there's a little table and kitchenette, couch, flat screen TV and two nice queen-sized beds. Oh! And a nice little walk in closet! (Nice water pressure/shower; well ventilated room - not stuffy or drafty, etc. My favorite part is that the building is shaped to let each room have a front door and a back door as well as large windows on each side of the building too!!! Lots of natural light and pleasant views even though you're not on the water side of M22. The price was great ($105 after tax in April) especially compared to the $100 we spent last night at a fine but boring (and stuffy) Comfort inn in Traverse City! I'd love to stay here again and will definitely refer friends looking to stay in the area. read more

We stayed here this past week with 3 adults, 3 kids and a small dog. We had our own cabin which was perfect! Cabin seemed to be very clean, took precautions for Covid and was always available if we needed anything. Was quiet and set back from road. Only bad thing we encountered was the knats all over inside the room. We even called and they said it has been a recent problem. I would definitely stay here again! VERY nice place! My fiance and I stayed in the chalet, (for the same price, if not cheaper than the cheap hotels in Traverse City) separate studio house, full kitchen, plenty of room, vaulted ceilings, and very clean! We found this place last year and made plans for another stay this year. Lisa at the front desk was VERY accomidating, and the Innkeeper, Kevin was there for anything he could do to make our stay the best. We will be back when returning to the area. On another note, I overheard what must have been a very high maintenance woman corner Lisa in the parking lot complaining her room didn't have a hair dryer,... really? With this pandemic going on, personally, I wouldn't want to use one of those that someone else used. Furthermore, at the price you paid, bring your own d@"n hair dryer! I also seen a few younger millennials that trashed their room and had no regard for the hard working people that had to clean up their mess! I feel sorry for their parents that I assume taught them better. I'd like to thank Lisa, Kevin, and all of the hard working people that had to bite their tongue and put up with "people" like this. The only positive thing about this place is that it is dog friendly. The mattresses are in desperate need of replacing (they were visibly bowed in the middle) and the pillow cases appeared to be stained by someone's mascara. The window sills are full of dead bugs and cobwebs. Totally understand being up north, but could have been remedied easily by a quick vacuum. The rooms are not clean, the floors were sandy and as mentioned dead bugs everywhere, including the shower. It seems as if they just made the beds and wiped down the bathroom and that was it. Good location, but the road noise is pretty bad. Overall, very expensive for an extremely disappointing stay. I'm not sure who is leaving good reviews but they must have stayed somewhere else. Absolute WORST stay in my LIFE. Staff got irritated and rude because I asked them to bring more towels. She wanted me to bring my towels to her in the office and pick up more. I was half dressed with wet hair. She walked across the parking lot and brought towels with an attitude. When we returned to the room at 10:30 pm the heater was not working. When I called the number same staff member stated she heard of that but she didn't know what to do and owner out of town. There's an extra blanket she said. We stayed in a room that was 60 degrees with the bathroom even colder. We checked out early to staff hurling insults claiming I was rude because I wanted everything my way etc WOW read more

One star because zero isn't an option. First, I generally do not write reviews our experience there prompted me. Second, when I do write reviews, they almost always are positive because I like to help businesses when I can. My wife and I recently bought property on the Leelanau Peninsula for our retirement home and we were passing through the area on our way from the Upper Peninsula to the Detroit area for the memorial for my wife's late sister. We chose this place because of proximity to Traverse City and because it is dog friendly. It ended up being one of the worst mistakes we have made in recent years. The only good thing I can say is that it is dog friendly. Beyond that: 1) it is noisy (right off M-22); 2) the place was crawling with bugs; 3) we had no face-to-face interaction ever with a human being at the place. They leave the doors unlocked with your key on the desk and you are just supposed to go to your assigned room and hope nobody is in there to cause you harm; 4) the room is cooled by a very noisy "window" air conditioner, which made it very hard to sleep; 5) they booked us on the wrong night, effectively double booking the room; 6) we were awakened by pounding on the door after midnight by the other parties who were double booked; 7) after a few hours of terrible sleep, we decided to just move on to Detroit. While packing the car in the dark and after about 3 hours of sleep, I accidentally left a black bag containing a couple thousand dollars worth of camera equipment on the ground - it was the middle of the night and this was not noticed, 8) after getting to the Detroit area, I realized that I did not have my bag. I called the Inn. Nobody answered (which was the experience of the couple who was double booked with us) and my call went to voice mail. I explained my loss and asked that they call back - they didn't have the common decency or professionalism to even call me back and tell me, sorry Charlie. My advice is to stay someplace else in the Traverse area, even if it costs you way more money. This place is terrible. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!! #1. Overall cleanliness was very unsatisfactory #2. Stained and Dirty carpeting #3. Stained cushions #4. No working heat for the room (ongoing issue, not a new issue) and solution was a portable heater. #5.Grounds were not maintained. #6.RODENTS... YES, MICE. Multiple mice living in the walls of the building crawling in and out of holes in the poorly maintained building. *When we brought this to their attention and explained our concerns with continuing our stay we ask if they could accommodate any refund for the 2nd night that we would not be using. Mind you, this incident occurred in the morning, and we were vacating we in the morning hours. When the "General Manager " David returned our call he abruptly did not offer any accommodations and continued to say "What do expect you are up north" and "we should be happy with the rates we were given due to Covid" Speaking of Covid... With business being closed and just recently reopening, they had every opportunity to clean and no necessary repairs and updates. And with the Health guidelines that are required for all business to follow I would think they would be in violation with the current conditions of this property. We, left without a refund of any kind and booked the Comfort Inn for the same price which was not only clean, had a great friendly staff, a shuttle service, and an open pool. Seems like every place up north in Michigan requires a 2-night stay and the prices are sort of high. This place did require a 2-night stay, but the price wasn't as high as even some of the chain places. GOOD: Seems to have been renovated. Rooms are tidy and efficient. We didn't turn on the TV, but it has one. AC is run via remote control and will cool down your room. We tried using the windows in the bathroom and front of the room to get the temperature down (50-60 degrees at night) but the airflow just wasn't there. Beds are firm. I slept well, though I was a little sore in the morning. Plenty of hangers. NOT SO GOOD: The shower stall seemed tight, but it worked. The shower head didn't move much. Not really a big deal. I've showered in way worse conditions. You'll have to arrange for coffee elsewhere. They have a pot in the office, but it is only available starting at 8 a.m. and it ain't too happening. This place is open year-round. I'd definitely stay here again. read more

Nice little motel right on M22. Clean, quiet, VERY comfortable beds, and down-free bedding for those that are allergic. We had our dog with us (65lb. Catahoula,) and the pet fee was only $10 for the night. Total for the night including tax was $105.99. Not bad for the area, especially for a pet friendly place. I'd stay here again. read more

My elderly out of state residents made a reservation for an event in August. Unfortunately our family cancelled plans. My mother called this place 3 times(well within time frame) and was assured she would get her refund. The owner called her a few days before the reservation and was told she would not get her large deposit back, they did not have any record of her calling to cancel. It took family to get involved, obtaining phone records, threats of small claims court to see any action. She was refunded minus $250, incidental fee, finally.
