Do not have your Subaru serviced here!! My experience with Lee's Summit Subaru was one of the worst experiences of my life. Long story short. I had my 2011 Subaru Outback taken to this dealership for repairs. My engine was overheating. They had my car for a week, I had to call almost everyday to figure out where they were at with my repair. They had replaced my timing belt, water pump, head gaskets, etc $3000. Sucks but I needed it repaired. Thought I would have a brand new car essentially with how much was done to it. Car didn't feel right when I got it back. So, 2000 miles later I am stranded on the side of the road, engine shaking. Took my subaru back to dealership where they said I needed new heads, repair is $4000. Uhh what. I just had my head gaskets replaced and what not. Was told this new problem had nothing to do with the repair two months ago. Took to another shop where they said that it was in fact due to something Subaru had done improperly. I contacted them to see if they would fix what they broke and nothing. Please do not use this dealership for repairs! Coming from a honest hard working woman! read more

We bought our first KC Subaru at Van, and that used to be where we serviced it until we dealt with their cluster of a service station. After reading the glowing reviews for LS Subaru, I decided it was worth the 30 minute drive to take my car here for some recall issues. They were fast and friendly. Due to scheduling issues, I showed up 2 hours early for my appointment. They didn't bat an eye at that and were able to squeeze me into their gaps and get me out of there within an hour or so. The service manager was very nice and not pushy about additional work. He told me what they recommended and suggested I do it when I need an oil change so I'd save a little on that. Unlike other places, I only had to tell him "no thank you" once. They also answered random questions I had about my car. Plus, the wait lounge is comfortable enough and has free wi-fi. This will be our new Subaru service station from here on out. read more

Hands down, the best customer service experience I have ever had with a car dealer. In and out in less than three hours including a consultation, test drive, financing, and a myriad of paperwork. LS Subaru did everything the right way. We walked in and weren't attacked by rabid sales personnel. Tim S was patient, resourceful, and provided a wealth of knowledge not only about the car we were eyeing, but also Subarus in general and the competition. We also had several financing options made available to us and were walked through the process with ease. I usually fear the awful sales pitch from the salesman and finance guy - not the case here. No pressure on unneeded plans, warranties, clear coating, or deer protection. Just the simple, straightforward truth. Buying a new car should be a fun experience. In the end, you should drive away with a car you love feeling good about the deal, the process, and the vehicle. LS Subaru exceeded all of our expectations and has a customer for many years to come. I booked an appointment online several days prior to the service date for a Check Engine light. I arrived on time, only be told after waiting in the lobby, for a service rep to tell me that they do not have a diagnostic tech on Saturdays. I work Mon-Fri, which is why I specifically booked a Saturday appointment. Really, you're a dealership with Saturdays hours for service, and you can't handle a Check Engine light? That's pathetic. If they managed their upcoming appointment reservations they would have caught that. Instead, they wasted my time and gas. I won't be back. read more

Stopped here in the middle of a cross country move to get a replacement part. Our rear-view mirror fell off at 4000 miles. The part had been stripped out and couldn't be put back together. They were great about making an appointment for us. Unfortunately they didn't have the replacement part and they couldn't order the part in advance. So after stopping on a Monday they told us the part would be in on Thursday at the latest. Thursday afternoon rolls around and we hadn't been called. We called them to find out that the part didn't come in, that they expected it the next day. Friday they didn't call us either but we found out the part had come in when we called them. It took 1.5 hours to fix something that could be disassembled and put back together in 15 minutes (we had done it 3x in attempts to fix it). They did wash the car both visits, which was nice. The service staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and was willing to sit down and answer any questions that we had. There's room for improvement. We wish they had kept in contact with us and were quicker about the repair. read more

What a wonderful experience! I was shopping around for an Impreza, from the moment I called to ask about inventory to the minute I drove away - what a great crew! The finance team worked with my situation, the manager was prompt and friendly, the entire staff did not miss a beat. My salesman (actually a blonde woman) was extremely knowledgeable about Subaru, every little question I had was answered honestly! (Gas mileage, what options I could add, upgrades, tires, storage space etc.) I even received a follow up call from my sales woman asking how my Impreza was handling and when I was going on my next road trip! I bought a brand new 2017 Outback with a safety feature called eyesight. I was told that because of this feature that if the windshield needed to be replaced that it would be very expensive. Therefore I opted to pay an extra $449 at the time of purchase for a windshield replacement insurance policy with Zurich Insurance. 1,000 miles into my new car, apparently a rock from highway driving was thrown and chipped my windshield in a place that I could not see the chip. So I had no idea the windshield was damaged until the chip then turned into a crack. At that point I promptly reported it to Lee's Summit Subaru and made a claim with Zurich. But because it had turned into a crack longer than 6 inches before I even knew it was there, Zurich denied the claim. I now am faced with replacing the windshield at a cost of somewhere around $800 even though I thought I'd bought a policy to cover this type of situation. My advice is when buying from Lee's Summit Subaru or any other dealer, closely exam whether this wind shield protection plan is really worth the cost or not. In my case: NOT! read more

I recently purchased my second new car from this dealership, not learning from the issues I had the first time. I love Subaru, so I just hoped it would be a better experience the second time around, it was not. The first thing that happened isn't necessarily the dealership's FAULT, but they handled it terribly. My transmission went out with less than 500 miles on my new Forester. The dealership had horrible communication during the TWO weeks that they had my new car, trying to diagnose and replace the transmission. Again, the issue was not their fault, but they sure didn't care about trying to make it better or easier. The second huge issue I had, which WAS the fault of the dealership, is this.. A few weeks ago I put new snow tires on the car even though it still has only 2,000 miles on it, I wanted some good 'snow' tires. When the shop took the OEM tires off, I noticed one of them had a patch in it. This would normally not bother me, I have had several tires patched in the past. But to have a new car with patches on the tires, and no word from the dealership about it is ridiculous. Actually, I would think that if a new car had a hole in the tire before it was even sold, that the dealership would replace the whole tire, instead of patching it and being deceiving by not disclosing that to the buyer. Also, my original complaint about the handling of the transmission issue went to a manager named David Rodgers, who has no interpersonal skills at all. His response was basically "The car is broke and we're working on it". I will probably buy another Subaru in the future, even after the transmission failure, but I guarantee you it will not be at Lee's Summit Subaru. Drive the extra miles and try to buy from a decent dealership. read more

Typical pushy dealership, but why expect anything less...they sell cars. Our salesman was fantastic. Highly recommend Daniel Grimes (5 stars). Our time in the finance department was nothing short of entertaining. James was our guy and it didn't take much for me to make him extremely mad. The way James acted was highly unprofessional and I had to keep myself from laughing at his desk. I'm in the industry myself, so I wasn't "buying" his upsell and took the higher interest rate. Knowing the market and having excellent credit, it was an easy choice that frustrated James to the point of turning bright red and slamming our file on his desk. James didn't explain a single aspect of our loan after that. It was an experience I'll never forget and hope Lee's Summit Subaru has other people doing loans with better business practices. Make sure you do your research if you plan on using their financing. They're salesmen, as well. read more

I have just had a terrible experience with the service department. I had a scheduled appointment, when I arrived I was informed that it would be at least a two hour wait. I asked if they knew they were running over two hours behind why they did not have the courtesy to text or email this important information to me. Very disappointing that my time is not valued. Update: After taking the week to do some research and get financing through BOA, my husband and I gave Lee's Summit another chance. They had a Forester we wanted to test drive. We worked with the same salesman. Although, he changed his approach somewhat with us (A little friendlier. Not as high pressured.) we still feel like he didn't have our best interest at heart. We ended up buying our car at Van's. Not only did Van's team make us feel at home, but they also wanted to earn our business (and they did!). Plus, they have a better selection of new and used cars. In our opinion, from the first interaction to the last, the Lee's Summit salesman acted as if he was doing us a favor by even talking to us. The car we test drove at Lee's Summit seemed to have been previously owned by a smoker based on the look and smell of it. When we mentioned this, our salesman (without checking it out for himself) vehemently denied they would ever sell a car someone had smoked in. Perhaps that's the case, but it's hard to gain a potential buyer's trust when they see what appears to be light burn marks on the window and a smell of smoke when the air is recycled. Instead, we received what we considered was an endless rambling of excuses and print outs. I don't know why he wouldn't take the time to go outside with us to look at the car and listen to our concerns. Bottom line, we won't be going back. We've already recommended to a friend who is wanting to buy a Subaru to go to Van's. I recommend the same to anyone who reads this. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches and stress. (Previous experience:) Typical high pressure car salesman. We left there feeling relieved we weren't manipulated into buying something we didn't want and way out of our budget. I feel the salesman that helped us had no interest in what would work for us as long as he made a sale that very day. He even suggested we put part of the cost on a credit card. First visit to the Service Department for my very first oil change. Yes, I know my vehicle takes synthetic oil but that doesn't mean you should charge $100.00 for AN OIL CHANGE!!!! You charged me $70.00 in LABOR?!?! All the technician did was change the oil and filter, rotated the tires and completed an multipoint inspection. Not that difficult nor does it take that long....I should know I work at a dealership with the technicians. I can go to multiple dealerships around your area even another Subaru and only get charged $65 for the same work. Charging me $100.00 for an oil change is absolutely ridiculous and I will never be back and I will never recommend this dealership to anyone. read more

My husband and I have been in the market for a (used) second car for a while. A friend/co-worker who has been a long-time customer at Lee's Summit Subaru suggested we check them out and gave us a business card for Courtney. She was super, giving us time with the cars and answering our questions, but not pressuring. She was easy going, professional, and patient. We took our decision home and then emailed her when we'd reached one, and she met us for an appointment the next day. The whole process was smooth, and LSS was very accommodating; we came in at 7:00 and the staff stayed until after 10 until we were all set--very dedicated. We worked with Johnny for the finance stuff, and he was very efficient and knowledgeable. Also had a great sense of humor and we enjoyed his stories. We have purchased 5 vehicles from Lee's Summit Subaru in 8 years. 3 were used vehicles including a 2010 CPO Legacy which drove like a dream. We have also purchased a new 2014 Outback which wasn't our favorite, but a decent vehicle and a brand new 2015 Legacy fully loaded. I love my Legacy and haven't had any trouble with it what's so ever. Everyone at the dealership from the GM to the service techs have been great to work with. They have gone above and beyond in making sure we were satisfied and the service guys are friendly, courteous and they make sure my car is in better shape than I dropped it off in, that includes a car wash. The one time we felt that we were 'blown off' by a salesperson, the GM stepped up and made it right. I am not sure who other reviewers dealt with but I can tell you, we wouldn't go anywhere else for our Subarus! read more

FIRST TIME BUYER BEWARE I ended up purchasing a used 2015 'Certified' Subaru Legacy from this dealership. I started the day at the Lees Summit Honda dealership actually and everything began fine. Overall a great test drive experience, but quickly after- things went downhill. Brandon Richards was my salesman and began by offering up a buy out of my lease for my current car, acting like Lees Summit Subaru would incentivize a buy on the legacy we'd just driven. He also began by telling me they'd run my credit one time so we could get accurate numbers. This one credit screen ended up being 21 hard checks on my credit report. Then I found out that they were trying to finance the remainder of my paid off lease, a fact I'd mentioned multiple times. The dealership also was aware that I was concerned about my credit situation as I have a fair amount of student loan debt and some past challenges. They leveraged this throughout the process telling me that "there wasn't another dealership that would finance a car for me." SERIOUS ADVICE: Unfortunately, I did purchase a car from this dealership. The reason my experience has been so poor is just in regards to how much I overpaid for the car, my fault for not walking away from a really demeaning situation. I also just moved here from a state where sales tax is included in the financing, Lees Summit Subaru failed to mention that sales tax on the car would be over $2,000, a fact I'm sure they were aware of. The dealership also never gave me the second key to my car, which they said was in the envelope provided. I still have yet to receive this, nor do I plan on getting it at this point. When I came to cancel my warranty, which was not worthwhile after considering- the finance manager James Brightwell was very condescending and rude asking me if I "had a crystal ball." If I did, I would have steered clear of Lees Summit Subaru, Brandon Richards, and this entire team. These guys are your typical twisted car dealers. If you're looking for a place that will take care of you and treat you right- FIND ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. Especially if you're a first time buyer, don't let these guys take advantage of your situation. Multiple dealers have reviewed my financial situation as I need a car that's bigger than the Legacy and have all mentioned that this is one of the most sideways deals they've seen in a while. I don't usually post reviews like this, however, I figured if anyone else had issues and posted, this may save others from having to deal with it. I've been trying to resolve an issue with my battery purchase for six months now. Have been told four times that I would receive a call back and every time I have to call them to check the status. I believe they have stalled long enough that the warranty is no longer good. I would like to say up until this issue I had great service from Lee's Summit Subaru. I had my daughter's car serviced back in April of 2019. Was told we needed a new battery so we purchased the dealer brand. Five months later the battery went out again. She wasn't near a dealership so we had to purchase another battery form an auto parts store. I visited the dealership in person, with the battery, and was told they would call me back once they talked with the parts manager. Never heard anything so called and was told they have to work it out with their warranty people and would call me back. This happened two more times and here I am. read more

Stopped in for an oil change and they had sign posted for free alignment check. They said with the oil change and alignment would take about an hour if they had to adjust anything and would be an extra $109 if any adjustments were made. The timing wasn't far off I think I was out in an hour and 20 minutes. The irritating part was when they charged me $109 for an alignment that WASN'T needed. They gave me the print out of before and after alignment and everything was green in the before (which means it is within spec) and green in the after. The only adjustment made was a slight toe in on passenger side. When questioned their stance was "we made an adjustment". It didn't matter that it wasn't needed but the adjustment was made and I had to pay. They offered me a "wild card" discount and said they would take $15 off of which I said I didn't want I just wouldn't return. Upon leaving I started looking over the "inspection" report they fill out while doing an oil change and found a lot of information on it that was incorrect like the tread depth was 10/32 on all four tires which the rear tires have 35,000 miles and the front have 5,000 miles so unlikely. The brakes were marked as 8mm thick on front and 6mm on rear. The indicator has been rubbing for probably at least a month now so that's probably inaccurate also. They said they added antifreeze but it was above full when I arrived so I'm thinking that didn't happen either. Bottom line I feel like I paid for quality service but didn't receive it. read more

I have regretted buying my Subaru Forester from these people. I have never seen a place that lacks customer service as bad as this place does. We have had issues with the service department and decided not to take our car back for a few years but recently decided to try them again to see if they changed and they haven't. The latest issue was we took our car into to have an alignment and wheel bearing fixed. The guy called us saying they broke a bolt and it would cost $40.00 to fix it. Seriously, $40.00 for a freaking BOLT??? (We were already spending over $400.00 for one wheel bearing) He said he would take care of it and not charge us. (THEY SHOULD SINCE THEY BROKE IT!) However when we picked up the car and went to pay we noticed the charge for the bolt on the invoice. The guy stated he took it off. No he did not. All he did was took it off labor and added it onto parts. He tried being sneaky but we caught it and the guy was extremely rude and tried to weasle his way out of it. Needless to say we won't return ever again. read more

I took my Impreza in for an oil change and a 2 ft crack in the windshield. The inspection checklist came back all green including the windshield with no mention of the crack. I sure hope they checked the drive shaft and transmission a little closer. Staff was rude and sloppy with numerous details and communication. Said they had windshield in stock but was wrong type of car. Cost over 1,000$ to replace when other vendors quoted $670 They can't be trusted. read more

Have purchased 2 cars here and have used the service department many times. This place has gone down hill. The first time was a great experience all the way through. I told them what I wanted and they delivered exact specifications requested on the day I wanted and the loan terms were as promised and even 1% better at the time of signing. I took the car here for overpriced service through the entire life of the car. The service department has fliers that show a list of packages. Most of the stuff on the list is no brainer "inspect fluid levels" and other non value add items. I kept up on the car maintenance in order to not void my extended warranty. I traded this car in for a newer and faster car. This time the buying experience was completely different. I received a low but fair trade in amount and was promised that the remaining warranty would be credited towards the next vehicle. This was not the case. In fact, the sales guy promised loan terms verbally that were not accurate when the paperwork was completed with their lender. The transaction was on a Saturday so I made the mistake of believing what the car salesman had told me. After contacting the lien holder and verifying that I was deceived I called the guy at the dealership to let him know he was wrong. I was forced to move the loan to another bank due to the terms not being in line with what I was told by the dealership. The entire experience was shady overall and really soured my opinion of this place. Within weeks of this transaction they started spam blasting me about the value of my trade in and continue trying to make another sale. I will likely go to Van Subaru when it comes time to purchase again. read more

We went into subaru lee's summit to buy a forester XT. We made a deal on a price for the car and gave them a deposit which they cashed 1 week later (our bank records show this). We were told they did not have the car on the lot and needed to have one shipped in from the factory in Japan. We were told the car would be in sometime in December and informed them our lease was up on our current car on Feb 4. The date for the arrival of the forested continued to get later and later and it took the dealership over a month to get us a VIN so we could track the car's progress. We also periodically called the dealership to check on the status of the car and our deal to make sure it was still on. Everytime we called we were informed that everything was okay and when the car arrived all we needed to do was come in an pick it up. The car ended up arriving 4 days before the end of our lease which happened to fall on a day we were out of town. We arranged to pick up the car on Feb 3 (the day before our lease ended) as that was the only time we had. The pickup was for 6pm. I received a call at 12pm saying the bank loan rates had changed and the dealer could no longer offer us the same price on the car. The dealer said "I'm not going to lose $1500 on this deal, put yourself in my shoes." What he failed to do was put himself in my shoes (remember, I was the guy who already put a down payment down and was waiting 3 months for a car that was ordered for me). Needless to say, we said no to the deal and shared some words of wisdom with each other. I am another user that if I could give them no stars I would gladly do so. I have never dealt with such a business person as their sales manager who clearly does not care about customer service or honoring contracts. We contacted subaru of america about the deal and they called the dealership. They informed us that the dealership refused to sell the car to us and there was nothing we or subaru of america could do about it. They said they were sorry for the situation but that was how car dealing worked and the dealership was not responsible or at any fault in the matter. I would strongly recommend against business dealings with their dealership. read more

On Saturday I walked into your showroom around 9:50 to 10:00 am with my Father to look at a new WRX or STI and as soon as I hit the floor all of the sales consultants scattered like cockroaches. There was no morning huddle going on because they were standing around on their phones in different areas of the showroom, so we walk outside and look around on the lot....yet again nobody would come out to greet us and ask what we were looking for. So we start heading back to the truck and sit in it for awhile. Then I proceed to call the dealership to inquire about the vehicle since I wouldn't be receiving any help on the showroom or the lot...a gentlemen answered but seemed aggravated to have answered the call, spoke with him about a vehicle that was apparently just taken in to stock and he assured me that he would call me back shortly after he spoke with a manager. of course I received no phone call back. So I proceeded to another dealership who was leaps and bounds above Lee's Summit Subaru, as a person in the auto industry I have never seen a dealership with that level of unprofessionalism to just stand while a paying customer walked into your showroom ready to buy that day! So I left and went to Van Subaru and purchased an '18 WRX. I don't even know if I would be able to use your service facility for fears that they would be like your sales staff. read more

I took my 13 year old Subaru Legacy in for head gasket work recently. The service manager was on top of his customer service game. He kept me updated daily as the project unfolded. I also had brake work done. Even though they had found things that also needed attention, he contacted me before proceeding. Lee's Summit Subaru was very accommodating and courteous to my needs by providing me with a rental and finding ways to get me discounts since my repairs ended up being more extensive and thus costing more. Very considerate of my budget... Since I was spending so much money on this I was also enrolled in the rewards program which will get me free services of my choice in the future. They gave me points towards this repair, so I already qualify for some substantial services. Lee's Summit Subaru had already won me over for oil changes based on their friendliness compared to the other Subaru dealerships in town. I live in KS and go out of my way to get there for my vehicle needs. I feel good about my recent repair.
