Short Story: The tailored dress was still 2-3x too big in the bust. The tailor told me it's because, "your boobs are too small, you need to go buy a bigger padded bra," instead of admitting her mistake. I insisted that the shop retailor it to fit my body. They charged me almost double for the redo even though their policy is: "redos for any reason at no additional charge." They also moved my appointment to 5 hours later without contacting me. I caution against believing the number of good reviews as I did. Unprofessional. Rude. I do NOT recommend Lee's Tailor Shop. (Very) Long Story: Lee's Tailor Shop no longer lives up to its good reputation. I understand that businesses make mistakes sometimes and that it does not always reflect their business as a whole, but, between my own experiences and others' horror stories I have heard about since, I do not believe that my incredibly bad experiences are isolated incidents. I feel I must warn others about this shop. Here is my story... This is my wedding dress. I came to this tailor shop specifically because they had done good work for me before on suits for work and I trusted them. I was wrong to place my trust in them. I am pear-shaped and therefore had to buy a dress to fit my hips, but it was 2-3 sizes too big in the torso. At my initial fitting (Visit 1), I worked with the tailor whom I believe is the owner. I told her the torso is too large and the long sleeves were too big around my wrist. She also suggested hemming the bottom and bringing up the sleeves. She didn't pin any of my torso, just pulled up on the sleeves. I repeatedly asked if it would fit my torso when she was done, and she assured me it would. I am not a tailor and so I trusted her professional judgment when she said she would make the dress fit my torso. Of importance, she asked if I was wearing the undergarments I planned to wear at the wedding. I'm not a novice to tailoring (or to this shop; this is the seventh garment I've had tailored at that shop in the last 6 months), and so I knew to wear the undergarments I planned to wear with the dress and to wear the same undergarments across fittings. I came back the next week (Visit 2) and tried on the tailored dress with the same tailor present. It was still 2-3 sizes too large in the bust. I brought it up to her and she said it's because "your boobs are too small" and suggested I go out to a store in the mall to buy a "bigger, padded bra." She blamed her tailoring error on the shape of my body. She said to go into the mall and to come back that day once I bought a bigger bra. I won't unpack everything that's wrong with that interaction, but needless to say it is beyond unprofessional for a tailor to body shame their client. I let her bully me into trying to find a new bra, but eventually realized how ridiculous it was. This wasn't my fault or my body's fault. It's her job to fit it to me. I shouldn't need to augment or change my body for it to fit. I went back into the shop (Visit 3) and told the tailor on shift (a different woman, named Helen) what happened and that I wanted them to redo the tailoring to fit my body. The new tailor tried to imply that it was my fault for wearing a different bra to the second fitting than what I wore to the first. I wasn't. The entire experience was so horrible that I now have black mascara tear stains on the inside of my wedding dress. She eventually repinned my dress and said, "Come back on Sunday at 12pm. Ask for Helen, and only Helen. If anything else needs to be changed I'll fix it that same day. It will be ok." I arrived on at the appointed time Sunday (Visit 4). As instructed, I asked for Helen. She was not there. I was now to come back at 5:30pm. I arrived at the NEW appointed time later that day (Visit 5). Helen was there. I tried on the dress; it fit fine. She then charged me for the redo even though their policy, which is printed out on a large sign on the counter, says: "redos for any reason at no additional charge." I refuted the charge and it turned into 20 minutes of us both yelling at each other. It was horrible. I eventually paid the double charges just to get out of there. I waited 3 days to post this review to give the shop time to remedy the situation. No one contacted me. Overall, I do NOT recommend Lee's Tailor Shop. The tailors here demonstrated unbelievable levels of incompetence and unprofessionalism across 4 out of my 5 visits in a two-week period. Further, I heard two days after my final visit that something similar had happened to ANOTHER bride recently at Lee's Tailor Shop. That bride had to buy a new wedding dress as a result. It does not seem that Lee's Tailor Shop lives up to its good reputation anymore. I caution you, dear reader who made it to the end of this long long review, that this place is a big risk. Don't make the same mistake I did in trusting them. There are many other tailor shops in the Triangle who will give you better service and quality. read more

If I could give 10 stars I would! I am a 4'11, 120lb woman who can rarely find pants, jeans or gowns with a perfect fit. Therefore, I am so grateful for Ms. Kwang and her staff. Everytime I have visited her shop, she has ALWAYS made me feel great about my purchase and any alteration needed. Last evening, (20 mins before closing time) my husband & I arrived with suits & slacks that needed altering. She was still nice and pleasant as he tried on each piece. Ms. Kwang is nice, caring & kind. He work along with her staff is impeccable. as the majority of he reviews state. I strongly encourage you to visit without hesitation. These guys could not be bothered to take the time to take my measurements for an upcoming wedding. It is a rainy day and there was only one customer in the shop. Instead they referred me to Belk, where a nice older 'old school' gentleman did it in 1 minute with a smile on his face and some helpful tips. Some 'taylor'! Really disappointed with the poor workmanship here. Took in a pair of $500 raw jeans for a basic hem job: 1) thread color didn't match, 2) right leg was half an inch shorter than the left, 3) inner hem line was so uneven that it looked like a dog did the cutting (good thing I don't cuff my raw denim). Needless to say, I escaped with the remaining fabric and Yelped a different tailor. Pros? This place is probably $2-3 cheaper on average compared to the surrounding offerings. Hmph. I've had a number of items tailored here, and the work has been good (for the price). My only pet peeve is they don't talk to you. They rush you in and out when they make the marks for alteration. I came back and had a question on an item that didn't look great, they explained the issue. Why would go through the process of marking the changes, knowing that they make-up of the item was going to change, and didn't tell me? This seems to be a common thread among other reviews. Also, I should have asked for a price quote (since the pricing chart is really just a big range), b/c when I checked out it was higher than on the chart and they could give no explanation why, they just said each item was $10 (to hem pants). So...their turn around and price I guess can't be beat in the area. I'm not not a fan with dealing with them...not the best customer service. read more

I've had several things tailored here twice. First time I brought them some pants and suits to hem. They did a good job. Second time a few more blazers to hem and squeezed. Turned out they needed to redo the left sleeves of several blazers. The Korean tailor scolded me in a loud voice that my shirt sleeves were uneven (no it wasn't) causing me to think my suit sleeve needed to be redone and that if I insisted on having the blazer redone there would be no refund if I was unsatisfied. A second tailor came out to ease her from scolding me. I had them redo the work, picked up the blazers when done, and decided not to use them again. I'm now intimidated by them, unfortunately. I've been going to Lee's Tailor Shop for years and I've had a very mixed experiences. Minor work such as hemming a pair of pants or repairing something simple has been done really well. The workmanship has been great, the price has been very reasonable, and the time needed to finish a job has been very nice. When more detailed or complex work is involved, the quality of workmanship and care goes down tremendously. I first had them tailor a suit for me a few years ago and it needed a fair amount of work. What I got back was poorly done and required a second tailor to fix. I recently decided to once again try them for detailed work (altering a peacoat), but this time I asked very bluntly, 'can you do this successfully?'. I was assured the alterations would not be an issue and was quoted a low price. When I picked up the item, my worst fears were realized; the piece was basically butchered and the bill was over double what was quoted to me. I didn't mind the bill (still very fair for their time), but I do have issues with any tailor taking on work that can't be successfully done. For that reason alone, I can't trust them with complex work and I doubt I'll return for even basic work. read more

I came here hoping for a great tailor, especially one that would use the original hem of my jeans... they did use my original hem but it's very obvious they have been altered (you can see the pucker marks where they have been taken in). I had heard lots of good things regarding the service & quality of work ... and after taking a dress here, I couldn't agree more. I needed a pair of pants and a dress hemmed, and a strap resown on a dress as it was starting to tear (I would have done it myself, but it was sort of delicate and I didn't want to screw it up). The pants were part of a military uniform, so I was worried about bringing those to a tailor who doesn't frequently work with military uniforms, but they turned out fine. I chose Lee's because they'll hem pants for $8 instead of $14 at other tailor shops. Both dresses looked great as well, but obviously they were all relatively simple alterations. Total cost was $29. I went to the store on a Thursday evening around 5 and picked up my items Tuesday evening around 6:30. Both times there were a few other people in the shop, but I was in and out of the store quickly. If you have any problems with the alterations they did, if you keep your ticket, they will redo/fix the work for free if you take your items back within 2 weeks. If you want any extra alterations beyond the original job then you will have to pay extra. They try to move customers in and out of the store quickly, so if you want to have a long discussion with a tailor about what you want done, then you won't enjoy this place because they sort of cut me off while I was talking (which was fine with me, because they knew what I wanted and I got what I needed). read more

Even with the crowd, they took care of me quickly and I was in and out. They really worked hard to make sure everyone was helped. I'm not sure how quickly they could have had my jeans ready, but I wasn't in a hurry and they looked busy, so I said Wednesday would be fine. Came by to pick them up Wednesday and I was in and out again. $8 well spent. Enter thru JC Penney's on the south side of the mall and you'll find Lee's right there on the first floor. read more

It only cost $8 (which seemed like a really good price, but I don't know what other places charge) and they did a great job. The only reason I didn't give them a full 5 stars was because I had to wait in line for 15 minutes before I even got to the counter. WORST experience I've ever had with this place. Had simple fix to dress. Was too long and not even - after I brought same shoes and tried on in front of them. Worst part - Refused to fix price. When I went to check out they "measured" again and charged me $11 more than quoted. Take my advice - save your money and go somewhere else. I bought a new Hugo Boss suit I take my pants to Lee Tailor shop to have them tailored...when I pick up my pants today I go into the booth to try my pants on and I notice a large mark on the left leg and the right rear of the pants... I brought this to the tailor attention...he looks right at me shakes his head and calls another tailor...she states that the pants came to her like that...I told the tailor that I left the Belk store at Crabtree Valley Mall and came here...still being a long time customer...I was told to take pants to cleaners...that's it I did not get we will pay for them I got nothing... I had no idea you could find the best anything in a mall, especially one like Southpoint. Yet here, in a little corner of the mall, sits Lee's Tailor Shop. I wouldn't trust my pants with anyone else now. They've done some great jobs with pants that were too long, or too large that I just had to have and even fixed up an ill-fitting dress shirt to something that probably was the difference between Frumpy Ben and Ben: Lady Killer on a few occasions. My wife is also in on the act, getting pants, skirts, and jackets taken care of. They're pretty reasonably priced (the price for a pair of jeans will make you double-take...but it's still better than most places and the quality of work is definitely better) and normally have things done within just a handful of days. So, yeah, the best something in the Triangle is actually in the mall. Weird. read more

We have been loyal customers of Lee's Tailor Shop for many years! We have been the victim of bad tailoring in the past, but Kwan and her team never let us down. We trust them with the most expensive clothing in our wardrobe. Whenever we go into the shop we are always standing in line. Yes, they work fast, but if you ask, they will explain in detail what they need to do. They have even told us NOT to tailor an item because they thought the expense of alterations would exceed the value of the piece of clothing to be altered. WHO DOES THAT ANYMORE? They stand behind their work and will re-do any piece if you are not satisfied. Lee's Tailor Shop is consistently voted the #1 Tailor Shop in the area and with good reason. It would be one thing if the place was overpriced but delivered a great service. It's different when they're extremely overpriced and do a shabby job. I've been here several times only because my old tailor's shop closed down and this place was close to me. Lee's had done a decent enough job so I decided to come back, even though I knew they were charging way too much. BUT I will never come back after my last experience. I needed a pair of dressy palazzo pants taken in at the waist (at the back). They returned it to me with a new seam sewn onto the FRONT of the pant, right in the middle of the waist band. It looks ridiculous! And on top of that it's too tight because they took it in too much. On my other piece, a silk jumpsuit, they left long, knotted threads hanging out of the sleeves. On a pair of pants in the past, I specifically asked them to keep the slits on the bottoms of the pant legs (I agreed to pay more) and they sewed right over it without re-slitting the pant legs. Not once have they returned a piece to my complete satisfaction. Also, the man who works at Lee's is rude and dismissive whenever confronted with issues. I started dreading entering the shop when I saw he was working. The ladies have been better, but it still doesn't make up for the below-average work they've done on my clothes. When I pay people to make my clothes better, I expect just that. Instead, Lee's has consistently made mistakes and really reduced the quality of my clothing. I won't be coming here again. I'd rather go down into Raleigh and find a decent tailor! read more

I was a little nervous as all of my friends had gone to 'wedding dress' alterations specialists but I wasn't up for spending hundreds on a dress that was a great fit already and would only wear for 4-6 hours. I went to the Southpoint mall location and got AMAZING customer service. The team at that location really listened to me, made suggestions, and did a great job on the dress. BUYER BEWARE!!! Extremely rushed and poor quality alterations, and they will refuse to refund your money for truly amateurish work. My partner and I brought in a suit and dress for our upcoming wedding. I was expecting a basic fitting job for the jacket, hem pants, take in waist. When I picked up my suit, the only seam that was even remotely even was the hem. The waist was uneven, as was literally every seam they altered on the suit jacket itself. When I confronted them about this they literally looked me in the eye and told me that it was even and refused to do anything to correct their mistakes. I ended up taking to another tailor who was similarly disgusted by the quality of their work. My partner brought in her wedding gown for alterations, with similarly terrible quality work. They refused to refund our money, and there was no way we were going to let them spend any more time ruining our expensive wedding wear when they had already proven to us that they would take the time to get only 1/10 seams correct enough to pass even a basic eye test. Bad work, bad customer service. Wasted $180 and many hours of our time. 0/10 would not recommend. read more

This business is terrible. They intentionally ask to be paid after work is done so they can add charges to your bill that you didn't agree or even ask for. We took my daughters prom dress in for alterations and came back to pick it up and they had done additional work I didn't ask for or authorize. I was told at drop off how much it would cost and that's what I brought to pay. They physically took my daughters dress from her and said if I didn't pay for it I couldn't have dress. I asked her multiple times to change price and explained how I was quoted a different amount and she said it was not changing more than a dollar or two. I only possessed the amount I was told and nothing else. I called the police and asked for assistance because I felt very wronged and they should be held accountable. I took the dress back from her and was on phone with police advising them that we were also being blocked in to store. I was never refusing to pay her just refusing to be double charged. The work was sloppy and crooked and dress covered in string and lint. The mall sent security to help and upon their arrival she agreed to accept my payment of what I was told I'd be charged and we left. I refuse to be threatened or bullied into paying for work I didn't authorize and you certainly don't get to take anything out of my child's hands and block us from leaving to wait for police. This escalated and was petty. I advised her of my disgust and how I would make sure people knew they were intentionally misleading people. I want people to know they are not ok to deal with and should not be trusted. I hope this never happens to another mother or person. DONT TRUST THEM! read more

Do not go. They don't use measuring tapes. All they did was removed a button and they did not hem the length I needed for my suite at all.

Thanks for messing up a $90 dress and then making me pay $30 for literally nothing. Went in for a hem and to get it taken in at the waist, after being YELLED AT by who I'm guessing was the manager or owner because I asked them to take it in on the waist I had to pay $30 for them to have done ONLY the hem and then tell me they can't take in the waist for whatever reason. I brought in a Burberry trench coat for dry cleaning. The coat included a belt. When I picked up the jacket, the belt was gone! I tried to explain to them that the belt was missing, and they told me that, since the person who took my order didn't write on the ticket that a belt was included, they didn't lose it!
