I passed The Hut a few months ago & have been wanting to try it. Well, today was the day. I was a little surprised to see the parking lot fairly full on a rainy Friday, but once I went inside, I saw why. Yes, the place is a little worn down, with tape patching the booths. But I think it's because they are busy and have a lot of customers, so they don't have a lot of time to spend on decor -- although, there are signs and photos scattered throughout the restaurant to look at. I was warmly greeted as soon as I walked in. I've never been there before, but I was treated just as nicely as the numerous regulars who were there. It is apparent that the young women who are the servers truly enjoy their job, their customers and each other -- and I made sure to mention it to them as I left. On to the food. Traditional diner fare, which I love. I got the slider special, expecting 1) just one burger and 2) that it would be small. Nope, these were good sized burgers, and I could only eat one. I chose onion rings (which I almost always prefer to fries -- getting in the veggies, ya know ;) ) and, as others have said, they were REALLY good. I also mentioned THAT to the server, and she said they are hand battered. I left feeling like, well, I'd been given a warm hug on a chilly day. This is a simple diner. Anyone that's been around knows a simple menu stressing the strengths of the system is a surer indicator of quality then a huge, diverse menu offering the sun, moon and stars. I'm not sure of the story yet but it seems that the sisters working the joint are peddling quite a few little surprises delivered still by their parents. Dad makes the sausage and more I don't know. Their mom bakes. Good desserts. I want to sit in moms kitchen with a glass of milk and just breath. We went in because we wanted a juicy burger. I got a 1/2 pounder with grilled onions with chez and my gal got a patty melt. And we saw that they were offering hand battered onion rings so we got those. All of this was as good or better than I'd make at home and reasonably priced. The place stays busy so you can be sure that the food is fresh. Kind of a cult thing. Good food surely brings in a crowd. I've passed this place often and finally dove in for lunch. Next time I'll be stopping in for a nice breakfast with handmade sausage, pancakes or an omelette. I like the fact that the dishes are all handmade and homemade. Their daughter Elizabeth who manages and serves says her parents are still very passionate about their diner. We placed a to go order and the cashiers were so personable and nice! The cooks even said hello to us when we walked in. We didn't have to wait to Order or anything! Ordered the French toast with sausage and eggs! I order my eggs over easy and they were cooked to perfection! The yolk was cooked perfect, running just right in my egg whites haha! My French toast was really good! I ordered it with cinnamon and powered sugar! They were really thick, just how I like them! And the Turkey sausage was seasoned perfectly too!! I try to hit local places as I travel around on my many business trips. The Hut Diner is one of my better finds. They are a bit of a throwback in decor and menu, but that's what i was going for. Burgers and fries, done old school. Great service and the pricing is amazing. $8.95 for burger, fries and a coney dog. I didn't add cheese or a soda, etc, so YMMV. The place is neat and clean and has the local vibe. I was the only Asian in sight. That didn't cause any issue for anyone could see, however. All cool. I liked all my selections. Next time i think I'd get the wedges instead of fries- pretty much because I like a thicker fry rather than any objective issues. This one is a keeper. read more

This place is actually pretty legit. What a hidden gem! I've heard of this place through other yelpers and finally got the chance to dine here last night for the first time. While it isn't the fanciest place, it sure is pretty decent food. The menu here has a lot of different items to choose from, and they also have breakfast and lunch specials all day long. I went with the two hut sliders with onion rings and a water. My date went with the two coneys, onion rings and a drink as well. When the food came out, it was actually pretty good. I not only was able to finish all of it, but we both loved the onion rings. We couldn't get enough of them. Also, the prices here are really on point, so you can eat your face off for not that much money. Even though it's in a weird part of town, it's worth a trip if you want something different and are sick of coney islands like me. I don't know what the hours are, but if I lived closer I sense that I would probably eat here a lot more often. Also, the decor is kind of random and funny, which I love as well. The waitress took the plate back then asked if i wanted half swiss & half cheddar which I replied No. I do not like swiss. I then heard a cook matter of factly state, "well i dont have anymore corned beef. That was the last order", so im not getting to eat the corned beef hash that I was looking forward to having. Let's start by saying I love the Hut. If you're looking for fresh delicious soup from scratch with a variety of options, you're in the right place. The service is great, typical college age young ladies giving service with a smile. Food is good and the people are friendly.... How did they miss a star? Well. Limited options on the things I enjoy other places. Coffee will have creamer or milk. I went out of my way to come here because a Yelp reviewer mentioned they used Saunders Hot Fudge on their sundaes. I liked the vibes of the place as soon as I walked in the door. I love old fifties diner type places, especially if they really have been around a long time as this one seems to have. Their decor is old LP album covers, movie and concert posters, glossy photos of stars, etc. They even have a counter with stools that got a lot of use while I was in there. In fact they had a good crowd for a weeknight and everyone seemed real happy with their meals and service and having a good time. I saw the owners circulating and talking with regulars, always a good sign. My waitress was busy yet attentive. I just got a bowl of their bean with Bacon soup and my hot fudge sundae. That was plenty. The smaller sundae was only $2.25 but was huge for being the one scoop. The fudge wasn't THAT special, not compared to the real thing made with Hershey's Cocoa, but better than the melted plastic a lot of places serve. The soup was very homemade good. This used to be named Hamburger Hut years ago. It is under the same owners, and is SO much more than a hamburger joint. It is very casual, and not high end, but not a dive either. The menu items are reasonably priced, and the portions do not disappoint. They have done in, carry out, and a small outside seating area for nice days. They are open most days ( some holidays they do close). Very friendly staff, and while they are prompt, they are by no means pushy. I will most definitely be coming back! read more

When I got my Breakfast sandwich, it was so sloppy I had to like redo it. to make it taste good b/c my buns were Soggy, I had some toast here at home to make, That saved everything.
