    Poke bowl

We had a really lovely family lunch at Lefty's. Not only did we really love the menu, but our server was fantastic and we all enjoyed our food. We would definitely return when we're back visiting the island. This poke bowl was one of my foodie highlights of my trip!

Mid afternoon snack. Or tea break. Call it what u Will, we stopped by Lefty's next to Thrifty market in busy Parksville BC. Been KITE flying. Sand Castle judging. Listening to Blue Grass music down by the beach. The de caf coffees were made fresh and pronounced delicious by all. Bottomless cups, prompt refills. Mediterranean style pizza shared by all except this writer was they said, really good and a generous serve size. Server was Chelsea, a hard working woman, but she had little HELP to look after our table of 4 and the ENTIRE restaurant. Wimmins loo was broken. Men's side had no paper I was informed, so our female diners left unimpressed. THAT has to equate to a loss of star. I would return, based on the coffee alone!

    Their homemade pies look delicious!

This was a wonderful place to eat!! We found this place using the Yelp app and decided to give it a try. I am so glad we did! The food was delicious, there was plenty of it and the service was superb. Sherry, our server even provided us with a very valuable tip! We are from the U.S. and our customs are different. I believe I prefer the Canadian method of paying by credit card. In the U.S. you give your card to the waitstaff and they take it and ring up your purchase. In Canada they bring the credit card reader to you so your card never leaves your possession. That is the smartest way to do it and so simple. The homemade pies looked delicious, the homemade cherry jelly should be sold commercially so I can buy some at home!the decor was nice and I especially liked the story of why the place is named Lefties. All in all this place gets 5 star rating from me!

Beautifully presented dessert. They also serve cream pies but you have to come early for those babies ;)

Ate at their Parksville BC location. After eating at an old, smelly pub the previous night, it was so nice to walk into a fresh, modern atmosphere. I ordered a couple of Lefty's lime chili prawn tacos. It was delicious! Each taco with two beautifully flavoured prawns on shredded cabbage and radish slaw in a soft shell :) My wife ordered a blackened salmon burger on brioche. Came with home made kettle chips. Again, delicious. For dessert, I ordered a caramel apple crumble pie with decaf coffee. Beautifully presented. Server was friendly and efficient. Food came promptly. My wife asked for coffee with her meal. I asked my coffee to be brought with my dessert. She got it right! One entrance two different exits. It's the covid thing. Observed staff promptly sanitizing vacated tables. Highly recommend Lefty's.

Lefty's Cafe offered a quality breakfast using ingredients sourced locally. The drawback is that the price is much higher than I would like to pay. Breakfast @ $9 and up. I can see why the place was empty with the crowds at Tim Horton's and Denny's. It thought: might as well eat while I am there! +__+ Bottom line: Quality at a price to match.

    Nice atmosphere

The food was just ok. The potato wedges were oddly soggy instead of crispy. Service was slow, and my order was wrong.

Waitress walked off and never came back with my water. Had to track her down twice to request water before I finally got water. Ordered basted eggs with English muffin, got eggs over medium with whole grain toast. Politely said, I actually ordered English muffin, (did not mention that I didn't order fried eggs) she said "are you sure you don't want the toast? I said, no, I would like the English muffin. She walked off and served several other tables and started filling their drink orders. My husband tracked down a different person to get my English muffin, by then my not basted eggs were cold. I get it, mistakes happen to the best of us. A simple acknowledgment or apology would have been welcome, but not a word. It made me feel like I was the one being difficult and I hate being that person. It isn't cheap eats, so I simply wanted what I paid for. The fried potato hash towns were tasty and well seasoned, the eggs (however they were cooked) were good enough. Overall the food is what you expect for a traditional breakfast. If you don't expect amazing service you will enjoy the meal well enough.

From the road, the coffee shop looks quaint and small, and I was blown away by the spacious interior. There were lots of signs offering the day's specials, plus a giant blackboard by the cashier listed out every menu item available. A sign noted shortened hours due to shortage of staff, but I didn't feel the shortage in any way. Service was prompt and we received our orders almost as soon as we ordered and paid. Since we already had breakfast on our first visit, I opted for a coffee and a marbled rye toast, only to be told the marbled rye toast was discontinued and they really needed to erase that item from the menu. Not a big deal; I got whole wheat toast instead. It was amusing to see the next day, the marbled rye option was still listed on the blackboard, without even having the "sold out" sticky sign taped over it. The hubby ordered one of the most delicious vanilla cold brews I have ever tried: full on vanilla flavour, but not overly sweet. To sound cheesy, this location does coffee very seriously while providing an excellent ambiance and service. Would have appreciated a little more current menu, but other than that, I wished we had a location closer to home!

The signage to even find the place in the dark on foot (we walked from a neighbouring hotel) and by car could be better. Once there, plenty of parking (mental note) and a welcoming entrance. Our server was funny and engaging, but perhaps a little flippant. He also had to go back into the kitchen numerous times to check if they had things that were on the menu. They make gyoza in house, and it is one of my favourites. 6 PM reservation and they are out already with barely a soul in the place. Our beverages were pretty good, so we soldiered on at ordered our entrees one grilled halibut, one seafood pasta and two bbq ribs. Once the food arrived I was surprised at how small the halibut was given the price. That was nothing in comparison to the two that ordered the baby back ribs. Normally they fall off the bone when the professionals cook them, not this time. It was fork and knife time to get them off the bone which is totally wrong. I could go on, but you get the idea. I doubt we'd come back. Shame to have a place on the water and then serve food like that.

Prior to our arrival, Shannon called to alert us to the fact that their onsite restaurant would be closed Christmas Day and that she had sent a listing of local establishments that would be open (which we were truly thankful for!) We truly enjoyed the views (spectacular mind you!) and their courteous nature! Rooms were comfy and spacious and the cafe and restaurant were equally satisfying! Housekeeping was highly attentive and the in room amenities were well-selected! The staff of the Bayside are some of the best - kind, attentive and truly responsive! The only negatives worth noting were the lack of "puppy potty locations" most (located to the back of the parking area) were muddy and not very accommodating and the staff in the cafe were unfamiliar with certain style lattes (which will come over time) other than this, great stay, truly affordable and appreciated by all of our family!
