The first thing I noticed was the roll. You cannot have a good cheesesteak without steak and cheese - everyone knows that. But what most people outside of the Philadelphia area seem to forget is that it is a sandwich, and as such, the quality and type of bread or roll plays a major role (pun intended) in the dining experience. The roll was fresh, and flavorful. I was told that it came from a bakery multiple times a week to ensure quality and freshness. The meat, cheese and peppers were generous, and expertly prepared. It was delicious. However, just as good as the sandwich were the fries. They were perfectly cut, seasoned, and fried. Not greasy, not dry. Perfect. I could make a meal out of the fries alone! And of course, no matter the meal, if the hosts are not amiable, and helpful, the experience will be disappointing. The owner, staff and even my fellow diners were to a soul extremely friendly. It was like having a family meal, in a town I never visited before. I might just have to take another hour and a half drive. I think that I hear a Pizza Steak calling my name.
