I came to a nearby Inn for my birthday dinner last year, and I stayed in a quaint little Bnb in nearby Culpepper. The next day, I started my long journey back home, and it included a stop downtown for a nice breakfast. There were a few options, but overall, the Country Café looked like our best bet. So we parked in the very rustic and fun parking lot, and headed on in. Stepping into this place, there was an instant vibe of everyone in the room being regulars and had been going there for many years. There were pictures of people and newspaper clippings and all sorts of small town stuff all over the wall that I loved. It made me real homesick for my small hometown. So even though we were outsiders, I felt right at home, and our super friendly server helped us with amazing service was start to finish. Looking at the menu, it was small and simple, my favorite. Do a few things perfectly rather than many things poorly. Browsing the menu, I only ever had the one option, the Country Boy Breakfast (The way grandma fixed it! 3 eggs any style served with 2 bacon and 2 sausage, fried potatoes with gravy on top and a biscuit). Usually, normal breakfast items don't fill me up, but boy howdy this one did. Well-scrambled eggs, skin-on potatoes, a well-peppered gravy, and sausage And bacon. So good. I enjoyed this a lot. I also got to sample some sort of apple cobbler French toast. It's not on their regular menu, it was a special they had going, and it was also good! This was quantity and quality! I love the skinny toast French toast, because it's soaked and cooked all the way through. And they certainly gave us enough apples on top. A good breakfast dish. Overall, I am a huge fan of this place. I don't know if I will ever come back, but I can guarantee, if I ever Am near Culpepper again in the AM, I will be making a special effort to return.

Country Cafe & Catering is a small joint offering tasty breakfasts! I ordered 2 biscuits with sausage gravy, two eggs over easy, breakfast potatoes and two slices of bacon - plus coffee and water. The food came up fairly quickly. First off - a lot of places offer a sausage gravy over biscuits - BUT a lot of places do not manage to get the gravy to actually exude a sausage flavor. But Country Cafe did it - the gravy comes off with a distinct sausage flavor. The eggs were cooked properly, and the bacon was crispy and tasty. The breakfast potatoes were rather bland. Salt, black pepper, and hot sauce were deployed in the appropriate places across the meal. Service was good. I would eat here again. #CountryCafeAndCatering

I'm talking about the blonde waitress. No worries. Thanks for your reply. Eggs were great.

Good ole fashioned diner/hole in the wall place to grab breakfast! Seated immediately and got coffee served to us right away. Coffee never went empty which is always a plus! For food we ordered the following: Country girl breakfast -very good and added a side of apples which were delicious. Eggs cooked according to preference and biscuit was nice! Country Boy breakfast- husband enjoyed all on the plate including the breakfast potatoes smothered in cheese and sausage gravy. I stole a piece of bacon and it was very good! Pancake-unfortunately the batter was off the day we visited and had a lemon aftertaste. Told our server and she took it off our check. It's not much to look at inside but service is fast and kind and the food is good breakfast food.

Pros: I love small down breakfast eateries. I know that everyone other than us in that building was a local and a regular. I also love a breakfast place that has daily or weekly specials that aren't on their regular menu. Service was super, exactly was you'd expect in the South. And the food was all delicious. Cons: I can't think of a con. This place is just good. They even had a meal that satisfied my boyfriend, and he has quite the appetite. Tips: I got a special, some apple French toast. And it was great. If they have anything like that when you go, get it! Great amount of gooey, delicious apples.

2 eggs, fried oysters, potatoes, and toast special!

I was told to try this cute little hike in the wall. I was not disappointed. I ordered the 2 eggs, fried oysters, potatoes, and toast! Everything was delicious. The oysters were fried to perfection. Very crispy. The potatoes added the perfect balance to the slightly salty oysters. The food was hot and fresh! Our waitress was amazing. She brought everything out with a smile. Overall, I would highly recommend!

This place was super cozy and the staff was extremely friendly. The food was mediocre but the owner's tomatoes were super fresh and tasty.

Small little place that serves up some wonderful food. The service is great and everyone is so friendly. We stopped in for breakfast and ordered two eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes and a side of biscuits and gravy. The portions were very generous and the prices are really reasonable. The only downside is the parking but overall well worth giving them a try.

Was too hungry to get a "before" picture!

Great food! The biscuits and gravy are terrific, and the coffee is good and strong. Service is fast and friendly, and the prices are good! I love that none of the coffee cups match.

Date of visit: July 4, 2021 I hate to say this is a little hole in the wall" but it is! And it was so good!! We love to eat at local places and this is definitely local! Take the front steps at your own risk and over look the facade. The food was very good and so was the service. Hubby got the steak and eggs. The steak melted in your mouth and the flavors was on point!

Special today. Biscuit and gravy, eggs and some taters.

I've been back 3-4 times lately for breakfast on weekdays and have had some really nice meals. Bacon perfect, eggs served hot. They Will fry oysters and serve them with eggs if you like although they don't always have them. I like to splurge for a treat sometimes.

The waitress was attentive and offered to refill our beverages (my ice water and my friend's sweet tea) many times and checked on us as well. The fish was succulent, fried to perfection, flavorful and moist and served with at least four, and more likely 6 ounces of tartar sauce that didn't skimp on the diced pickles. Two lemon slices (one for the ice water, one for the fish) accompanied my meal. The meal left me feeling full, satisfied and satiated and I wont hesitate to return again in the near future. Their breakfast menu was very reasonably priced and my colleagues fried eggs, french toast and grits looked delicious. Excellent portion sizes at very reasonable and affordable prices. A pauper could dine like a prince at Frank's Diner! The diner itself is tastefully appointed and was not overly loud, despite being at above 50% capacity. Wood paneling with painted white wall board with some interesting décor added to the experience. We left our charming waitress a generous tip in line with the excellent service. This is one of the best restaurants in the charming small town of Culpeper and I would encourage everyone to try it.

We all ordered the French toast breakfast, which was only $7, and honestly, for the amount of food you get, that's a great deal. First of all, the French toast portion was HUGE. Definitely come hungry! It was really good, and the sausage was probably my favorite part of the meal. It was that old-school, ground sausage formed into patties, and the flavor was so nostalgic. It immediately reminded me of the kind of sausage my grandmother used to make. The only real miss for me was the potatoes. I appreciated that they were actual hand-cut potatoes instead of the frozen cubes you sometimes get at restaurants, but they had absolutely no seasoning. Even just some salt and pepper would have helped, although onions and green peppers would have made them even better. Without ketchup, I honestly wouldn't have eaten them. I also had a peach mimosa, which was delicious and refreshing. Rachel, our server, was great. She was attentive without hovering and offered suggestions and recommendations, which I always appreciate. Overall, Grill 309 was a nice breakfast spot with generous portions, really good food, and especially good value for the price. It didn't quite blow my socks off enough for five stars, but I definitely enjoyed the experience and would give it a solid 4 stars.

The Sausage gravy was a white, almost flavorless gravy. You could see bits of sausage in the gravy, but it sure did not taste like anything. It was very underseasoned. I added salt, pepper, and hot sauce to impart some flavor to it. The eggs, corned beef hash, and hashbrowns were cooked properly. The corned beef hash is of the canned variety, but it was crisped up nicely. And the hash browns were crispy. I added a bit of salt and pepper to the eggs and hash browns, and hot sauce on the corned beef hash. If I had not tried the Sausage gravy and biscuits - this would have been a 4 or 5 star review.
