My fiancé and myself was not getting a great impression with Legacy. They started off good but made it difficult to communicate after being preapproved. Waste of an inquiry on my credit report . I feel every situation we had we were getting neglected or pushed away for other priorities. We did everything they asked and got treated poorly. Mario was an amazingly nice guy but my experience was terrible and our closing got delayed for more than a month. Here is why: 1. There was no loan officer. Often lenders have loan officers who act like a bridge between the borrowers and underwriters. They know what underwriters need and work with borrowers to provide all the documents in a timely manner. This company didn't have such a person and I worked with 3-4 people is different phases of my loan. As a result, we had so many issues. Three days before the closing, they found out we missed a down payments document. We had to ask for the seller to push out the closing. Again, a few days before the second closing, they figured we had another issue. We rescheduled closing five times and we close more than a month later! 2. Poor management; I believe they don't know exactly what they are doing. They asked me to get a 401K loan to compensate for a lack of document. And I did. The next day, they said the 401K loan created a new problem. This was unbelievable! They couldn't see this coming! 3. Finally if you are an investor, beware that they don't add back your rental properties depreciation. They don't tell apart cash flow statment and income statement. As an investor, when you report tax, you have depreciation in your income statement that most likely makes your profit negative. Most lenders know this and add back your depreciation. Not these guys! They told me the couldn't include my rental incomes! I regret working with them and I highly recommend you stay away from them, specially if you are an investor. read more

I was referred by my former Realtor to apply and work with this Mortgage Company in hopes to purchase my First Home and move from California to Texas. Everything was going well. I applied in December 2020, was told, because I started a new Job, even though was in a similar field, still needed to wait to submit 3 months of my Pay Stubs. Between December 2020-March 2021, I was following up with Matthew and everything was always "Everything looks great!" and/or "I think that should be fine". Matthew checked my Credit back in December and told me there was no issues with it. I planned to book my Flight to Texas and kept asking Matthew if there would be any issues before doing so. As you know, flights go up in price, so I wanted to book my Flight ASAP. Matthew never gave me any issues. Come March 5th, I provided my Pay Stubs. It took his Team until Wednesday-Thursday the following week to give me bad news! I was told, because they THEN FOUND discrepancies on my Credit AFTER THE FACT, that the INITIAL AMOUNT MATTHEW QUOTED ME IN DECEMBER WAS GOING TO COME DOWN SIGNIFINCALLY! I mean, we're talking ALMOST $265K LESS THAN I WAS INITIALLY QUOTED! I was LIVID! I was waiting for 2.5 MONTHS and THESE ISSUES SHOULD'VE BEEN ADDRESSED UPFRONT IN DECEMBER, SO I COULD'VE BEEN ADVISED TO WORK ON WHATEVER NEEDED TO BE WORKED ON IN DECEMBER, BECAUSE NOW, MY FLIGHT IS ON MARCH 21ST! I have had to reach out to other Lenders to apply with and LUCKILY, found one who finally made sense throughout this already stressful process and initiated my Pre-Approval Letter with WAY MORE THAN Legacy Mutual was quoting me! I would be CAUTIOUS when wanting to work with this Company. They lack communication, made me traumatized, and lose trust in them and in my initial Realtor. read more

Used them for my second home last year and it was a terrible experience. I am being generous with giving a 2 star rating because they are not that good. The person who was "helping" us was highly unresponsive from beginning to end. We were frequently thrown curve balls regarding things we needed to do but were never told about until almost too late. The consistently incorrect information, lack of experience with working with VA loans and overall incompetence made for a miserable experience. They even caused delays AFTER closing. I still get spammed from these scumbags. I will never do business with them again. read more

Nick Pronsky was my lender and helped me for nearly six months as I went through the grueling process of selling my home. After all that time and effort, I ended up going with a bank that my fiance works at just because she had benefits that could not be replicated elsewhere without losing a lot of money. I thought that the least I could do was spread the word of my good experience in hopes that someone else gives him the business that I was unable to. Nick Pronsky was our point of contact for our recent mortgage in Round Rock Texas. To say he went the extra yard in helping us acquire a loan would be an understatement. There are simply so many rules to deal with due to the new banking regulations since 2008, that the process can be quite daunting. I honestly thought the process would be a slam dunk, but quickly found out despite the fact that we were putting down almost 50%, our employment situation did not work well with the income requirements for loans (in particular the type of job you have and the duration on the job...which unfortunately, I didn't pass). It didn't help that it was a 1031 exchange. Nick diligently kept trying despite the fact that we didn't qualify for the conventional loans available at most banks and credit unions. In the end, he got it to work and things should be much smoother when we refinance and eventually move into the home in a couple of years, after complying with the IRS requirements for rental properties. I couldn't give a higher recommendation for Nick. He was nothing short of wonderful! read more

I took out a Loan with Legacy Mortgage with Niki Salter and her team because they were the Preferred Lender for Chemar Homes. I refinanced my Loan in 2018 and the legacy Loan was Paid off but their closing department after receiving the funds did not do their Job and issue a release of Lien letter. I contacted Nikki and she like she always did during 2015 when I had my loan processed with her team directed her assistant to check into what they could do. Her assistant did not read my request and send me something totally unrelated to my request. Then when she finally got what I was requesting she said they contacted their attorneys and would get it to me in approximately 2 days. Niki then proceeded to tell me they were doing me a favor. The First rule of business is to See the Problem then own it and then solve it not to pass the buck and blame another department. I am still waiting and will be filing a BBB complaint if this does not get resolved. Stay away from Legacy Mutual and especially Niki Salter and her team read more

I've used Legacy twice so far and would recommend them to anyone needing a real estate mortgage company. They did a Convential refinance on a rental property we own and a VA purchase on our current home. Both were seamless transactions, the only issues we ever had were with the sellers broker and were resolved by our agent. We sat down with them after trying the typical credit unions services (horrible), and were recommended by a friend. They have A+ customer service and can answer any question posed. I especially appreciated the way they kept me updated on everything. Very professional, use them and you'll never consider anyone else. Well done! read more

I'm equally as puzzled by the 5-star ratings. My experience was horrendous and continues to be. Legacy was the only problem throughout our home buying process and has done nothing to repair the problems they've caused. Aside from losing our information and the entire file multiple times (I'm totally serious), they also had a problem in underwriting that came up just days before close (despite us having turned in the information THREE WEEKS in advance) and could not provide any information about whether or not they could close in time. Our rep made no effort to take ownership of the problem and provide us a course of action, timeline, alternatives or ANY INFORMATION OF ANY KIND. I was in total limbo so much so that I started looking for other lenders at the last minute although Legacy then got their act together and got us closed. Ultimately it was the title company representative that solved the problem Legacy's underwriting was having...the TITLE COMPANY! With all the hassle and rework they caused, I got nervous when our home insurance company sent a letter stating they had not received the escrow money. While I now realize that's a title company issue, at the time I was worried Legacy had screwed something else up and instead of just helping me figure it out, our rep replied back rudely and told me to chill out... So I emailed their president and laid out my concerns in, I think, an exceptionally balanced manner. He has not so much as had an Administrative Assistant call to apologize. Legacy provided no value and was more expensive than almost any other provider. I will certainly steer anyone I know away from this company and I will put out an email on our internal system to let the folks at my company know how dismal my experience was. It appears money is the primary concern within this company and customer service isn't even a distant last. read more

Closed with Legacy in May 2017 and it was a horrible experience. From the beginning I was working with at least 5 different people on the mortgage team and there was obviously very poor communication between the team. I was constantly having to send duplicate information and reiterate my intent. We were able to close on time but what a mess. When we closed they sent a mobile notary out to my house for the closing which at the time seemed great, but come to find out that the notary did not know anything about the prepared documents and this slowed the process tremendously and contributed to a huge mistake on my deed. From day one with working with Legacy I made it very apparent that only myself and wife were to be on the deed and the whole team knew of this. I even asked the notary at signing if the documents were prepared reflecting this and he ensured this was the case.....he was obviously clueless. The following January when I applied for my homestead exemption I find out my parents are listed on the deed and I can only claim 50%. I was furious and contacted multiple people at legacy about the mistake. A compliance officer named Tania Oliveras denied the mistake even after I sent them completed documents PREPARED BY Legacy during the mortgage process that only listed myself and wife on the deed. I then requested upper management and a Don Kalbacher responded that they could not fix the mistake because the loan had been sold already. Well that's not true in the least bit, I had already spoken with Wells Fargo (new loan owner) and they were fine with a deed transfer as long as the loan was not changed. When this was relayed to Legacy they responded by saying that their attorneys could not correct the mistake! Finally, I had to seek an outside attorney to draw up the deed transfer costing me and extra $200 for a mistake made by this mortgage company. While on the Legacy website I found one of their mottos is "do the right thing." Not correcting a mistake for a customer is obviously doing the "right" thing for this company. I would recommend taking your business elsewhere! read more

Buying a home should be an exciting experience. Who you choose to complete and file your paperwork for this large purchase is huge. Legacy Mutual the Salter group made this experience horrendous. Trying to contact anyone on this team was damn near impossible. From day one to the last day reaching anyone was a struggle. We felt that we were definitely not a priority, or even a thought. Niki Salter spoke to us one time and tossed us to Olga Paries who was impossible to get ahold of. She was very unorganized, our paperwork was messed up multiple times (as simple as my name incorrect on everything), and we repeatedly sent in the same documents multiple times. All these mistakes made us feel like our paperwork wasn't even looked at! We did use a VA Loan which made it even worse. Their lack of knowledge with this loan really hurt us. Thank god for our realtor and her team for keeping up with everything and making them do their job. If it wasn't for her we would probably still be trying to close! read more

I have nothing but high praise for The Sigman Team of Legacy Mutual. My realtor, Joe Terrones of Joe's Dream Homes highly recommended the Sigman Team. Since I was already extremely pleased with and impressed by Joe, I went with him to Legacy. I am very happy I did. If you have not used a VA loan benefit since the housing market crash of 2008, I can assure you the process has gotten a lot more detailed and potentially very frustrating. But from the minute I was introduced to Josh and the members of his team who assisted me directly, I was blown away by the level of courtesy, respect, and professionalism I received. From the first step of getting qualified all the way through the myriad of documents and requirements to closing, the team worked diligently and aggressively to ensure we met our closing date, which we did. Joe was an integral part in the success of the closing as well. He stayed engaged throughout and explained everything in detail while letting me know ahead of time everything I would expect to receive from Legacy or any other agency involved in the process. This, along with Legacy's outstanding service made all the difference. Legacy actually had me ready to close a couple of days early, but the sellers could not close on the earlier date, so we closed on the original target date. The fact that the VA performed their appraisal in a timely fashion was helpful in meeting our desired closing date, but that part of the process is out of a mortgage company's direct control. In my case, everything went exceedingly well. Can mistakes be made? Absolutely, but I would certainly take any negative reviews with a grain of salt. In some cases, people who write negative reviews conveniently omit certain facts; facts that may hold them accountable for not doing something they needed to do or researching something carefully enough, or maybe they were just not fortunate enough to be associated with a great realtor like I was with Joe. Regardless, I can only speak from personal experience, and so I felt obligated to write a thorough review to match the thorough service I received. As a self-employed small business owner, I needed someone who could help me in a different way than most lenders. Josh understands this and that is why I chose to work with him. He helped me carefully plan out all of the steps that needed to happen, and even how to deal with very specific IRS issues. They were very conservative in their approach to calculating income, dealing with business returns with gains or losses, and in the end we were well above water which allowed our package to sail through underwriting. Broker was not responsive, never responded back to phone calls, was always on vacation and his staff could not do anything with out him. The Broker never gave us straight numbers and gave more information to our Realtor than to us. The Broker was not informative and did not tell us all the aspects and fees involved with the loan. This was my second time using this company. Five years ago everything went perfectly. This time, my first query was lost for 2 months, my second one two weeks, and then I had a personal meeting at their office and was assured we would close in 21 days. I received documents the day before with no appointment time and called the office to verify location and time. Went to Title Company on time to find I had been sent to wrong location. No apology for this mistake. I closed hours later after going to the correct office. I will never recommend this company again. read more
