Also, they do serve breakfast in the morning which is a plus, but there is a machine that dispenses both apple juice and orange juice that seems to constantly have gnat - like flies hovering around the part that catches the juice. My main issue with this place is smoking is allowed in the rooms - whenever I come out of the elevator or my room, the halls positively reek of smoke. Further, the windows at the ends of the hallway can't be opened, nor can the windows in the rooms - trapping the smoke with nowhere to go. Making matters worse is residents and employees alike typically sit right next to the entrance and smoke, meaning you have to walk right through their mess and breathe it in. If you don't smoke, avoid this place.

Next morning we went down for continental breakfast & to see if any more rooms were open. Due to COVID-19 the breakfast was behind the front desk. Basically pastires & coffee. The lady checked to make sure the person who was checking in later needed a handicapped room before she moved us to another room. She called us & told us what new room we would be in. The 2nd room was just as nice as the first room. Staff on morning & night shifts were very pleasant & accommodating. Cash paying customers are required to pay a refundable $100 deposit. This is a little pricey but what are you going to do if all you have is cash! Absolutely no issues eith this hotel or the staff we encountered during our stay. We would most definitely stay here again. There are only a handful of restaurants. Pot & Paddle Cajun Kitchen & Chuck Lee Chinese attached to Casino were both not very good, but this is not the hotels fault. Amazing Tour and Museum Experience…read more Houmas Plantation House is an amazing place to visit. We started our day early and had breakfast first. There's a simple American/New Orleans-style breakfast buffet with eggs, sausage, and grits, available from 8-10 a.m. The plantation opens at 9 a.m., and the first house tour starts at 9:30 a.m. The house tour lasts about an hour. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. This was my second time taking the tour, and although the guides were different, they shared the same history in their own unique storytelling styles. Both were engaging and easy to follow. Don't forget to tip the tour guides--they do a great job. After the tour, we walked through the gardens in the morning. It's about a 45-minute stroll at a relaxed pace--walk, rest, and enjoy the scenery. Very peaceful. Later, we went to the Carriage House Restaurant, which has amazing food. The bar is also great--try the Houmas signature drinks, they're delicious. You can enjoy your drink inside or outside, then walk around more or relax. If one person wants to do everything--breakfast, museum and house tour, lunch at the Carriage House, and buy a few souvenirs--expect to spend around $150 or so. Imagine our disappointment when we were told "no more tours today, she's already locked up the house"! Why would you ever treat your guests like this? Your business relies on tourism dollars. If you don't want to have afternoon tours, don't advertise them!!! Shameful!!!!
