If you are looking for childcare or after school care I WOULD NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS LOCATION. My 7yo son was ASSAULTED by a 12yo who was not suppose to be my son's designated area at the time. The 12 yo kicked my son so hard(with his football cleats on) it cause a closed head injury. He had to be taken to Children's where he was Diagnosed with a serve head injury And several bruises and scars. The only explanation the staff gave was it happened so fast(which couldn't have been the case). The only thing the staff could offer me,husband and son was a SORRY!!! It was no urgency about the matter and no one called for medical attention once they were made aware of the head injury! My son could be died! Keep looking this is not it. read more

I love this YMCA. The staff is friendly and welcoming every time I check in! The layout of the gym is a little weird, as the weight room is upstairs and when weight are dropped it sounds almost as if the ceiling is coming crashing down. It is a bit of an older facility but I feel like that makes it feel like a "real gym." I look forward to going to see the staff every day! read more

Legacy YMCA - Love this place - Gyms Near Me - Bessemer, Alabama

This isn't my favorite location. We use this location for racquetball and racquetball only. It is really close middle point for meeting up with my friend. The problem is they now open later on the weekend then they use to. In addition, the racquetball courts are in rough shape. If it is raining hard outside there is a good chance the one court won't be able to be used as it has some leaking problems. The lighting is only about 50 - 60% working. If the lights go out it is hit or miss if you can get them to turn back on...heat issue, not sure? The floors are exceptionally dusty which can make them a little slick resulting in a difficult time for quick lateral movements. They could use fresh paint on the walls even though the courts have a paint smell. I guess it's the price to pay for convenience related to location, but I prefer to go to the Shades Valley or Hoover branch when possible. read more

The only reason I rated 2 stars is because Michael Talerico the CEO is so sweet. Other then that . I visited this location as a guest to only be turned around by the most GHETTO, neck rolling, finger pointing front desk representative Sheryl Williams. This lady was so unprofessional and disrespectful. I totally understand there was a situation that prevented my Husband and I from receiving guest passes, and Michael explained the situation after the fact. But that was no reason to be treated like we were. Sheryl really dropped the ball on this one. As well as the membership director Heather Kipp. I guess her and Sheryl have a nice relationship because in so many words Heather told me because the members value Sheryl so much, how she treated my husband and I didn't matter. Which was a slap in the face. The misuse of guest passes by unruly teenagers is the reason we weren't able to get guest passes and it took Michael to explain that to me. But my husband and I are well over 30. There should be some sort of discretion when it comes to basically telling someone to f*** off. Very disappointing. Since Sheryl Williams wanted me to know her name so badly and advised me to make sure I spell it with and S. I will make sure her name is posted on every review site possible! DO NOT VISIT THIS LOCATION. The receptionist Sheryl is very rude and disrespectful. I will NEVER return to this location again due to her lack of professionalism and communication skills. Her unethical, unprofessional behavior caused me to act out of character which was not my intentions. I'm sure the YMCA does not tolerate this behavior. On another note please visit the location in Homewood. The staff there were very professional and welcoming, and treated my Husband and I with the upmost respect and were very helpful! I will definitely go back even though it is out of the way! They exceeded all of our expectations! Homewood is the way to go. Maybe they can can give you all some pointers on Customer Service! read more
