When I moved to Austin a couple of years ago, I was in search of a barber shop, not a butcher shop. When I worked for the State of Texas, I would get free haircuts at a certain prison unit in Huntsville from an offender who was a master barber in the free world. First of all, I knew that it wasn't going to be easy finding a good barber and definitely a fact that I would have to pay. A colleague of mine told me that her husband goes to Legendary Cuts so I gave it a try and I do declare that I have found my new barber shop as Brooklyn has done wonders with my lamb's wool and he is my new master barber. I was recommended this spot... Was told to ask for Will or Chuck. Walks in Chuck hands me off to Will, Will hands me off to Johnny. Well, he did a pretty good job..... Except, did the 2 things I asked him not to do... What that is you ask... Haha... Let me tell you..... Before I even sat down, I explained that I didn't want no lining in the front, want to look girlie, you know....he took it over to far. I also, said not to line the back of my hair to high, and I be damn, he did. Get home, wash my hair and it was uneven...lmbo... 4 Barbers in 3 years and not one of then really satisfied me.. SMH... I absolutely love this barbershop! I'm not tooooooo crazy about the location but once you get inside it is well worth it The owner managed to calm me down one Saturday after my new barber did a "no show" and was very accomodating. I live deep south and it IS worth the travel there to get what I want by a professional barber. The other barber who is located in front as you walk in is also a barber/comedian! His facial expressions crack me up! ANYWAY, back to my review.... I was looking for a good, available barber a couple of weeks ago, and happened to come upon them on google search. I saw the photos posted of haircuts done by this barber and I was absolutely impressed. I drove on out here, waited for a couple of people before me, and then I got in the chair and he gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had. All I told him to do was "make it look good" and he sure did. Rude, impatient barber. Sat in the chair and explained exactly how I wanted my cut. He sucked his teeth and said I didn't know what I wanted and told me get up because I don't know what I want and someone else will get a cut so I can have time to think, treated me like I'm a goddamn child. Would rate less than one because out of all my years going to the barbershop, I've never been treated this rudely. read more

This joint is a blessing from the baber Gods. Having moved from NYC to Austin a few months ago, one of my main concerns was finding a barber shop close to what I was used to back home. Went by here to get a haircut, and was very happy with the results. They spent the time to get it just how I wanted it. I would come back.

Came to this barbershop after calling in to ask "how busy they were?" AKA the most hated question by barber shops. The barber on the phone proceeds to tell me they are not busy and are valuable for walk ins. I get there within 15-20 mins of the phone call. When I walked in it didn't seem packed at all maybe 7 people and 3-4 barbers. I was eventually turned down by 3 out of the 4 barbers because they all had "something to do" after their previous haircuts. Mind you this is SATURDAY a busy day for any barber shop. So I didn't think anything of it, and asked the last final barber and he tells me he has 4 people to cut not including the one he was already cutting in the chair. At this point I was willing to wait until the barber got up halfway through the haircut and walked outside for like 15-20 minutes on the phone. If you want to get a haircut and have NOTHING planned for the rest of your day. You're better off cutting it yourself. This barbershop needs to do better. read more

He always communicates clearly about what you are looking to get done, and is careful to make sure the job is done well. I don't normally write reviews but I am livid, I waited almost two hours to get a terrible haircut and the whole experience was off. I had a barber that talked more than he cut and it shows, my hair is uneven in every single way, I have to come home and even it out myself, the taper is messed up and the lines are crooked. I moved to Austin from DC and I work very hard, so when I go to a barber, I look to relax and get a good cut, this was the opposite experience and where I am sure there are good barbers here, I had the bad luck to run into one that wasn't. I wish I could give a -5 for the 19 miles I drove to&from from this place for NOTHING. My son has an obvious Odell cut. Big faux hawk down the middle & tapered sides. Last Saturday afternoon he decided he wanted a hair cut. I called said establishment & the gentleman said they were closing & wasn't taking anymore clients.Understandable. He said they will be open on Tuesday. I said great and asked, is there a cutoff time on Tuesday because I leave my job at 5. He said NO as long as I get there before 7pm. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at this place. I showed up today(Tuesday) & Barber A said they are not taking anymore clients & Barber B acted like he has never seen an Odell cut before. What really bothered me was after I explained this situation both barbers were like oh well, basically unbothered & acting ready to go. While I was fuming in traffic on highway 183 on my way to the house my son said Barber A was the last person who cut his hair. read more

My son & I needed hair cuts. Called ahead to ask if the were excepting walk-ins they said yes come on in. I arrived 35 mins later (because I live NW Austin). I was asked who I was there to see I stated next available instantly one barber stating he leaving and normally cuts by appts other barber stated he has an appt at noon but he did show in next 15mins he could cut our hair. Will not go here again. Waste of time and gas. Will continue to look for a good barber that can cut in Austin. read more
