I picked Barbon's after my famous Wooten Barber had to close shop. You set appointments through their website. They specialize in all type of high end cuts, fades & beard trims. They have a talented group of barbers for the staff. I have gotten a quality haircut & beard trim each time I go. They offer alcohol & other complimentary drinks as you wait. A typical haircut starts around $40.00, and then if you go with other services like a beard trim it can be higher. This place is for people wanting the high end barber shop experience. The staff is friendly, nice facility, and they give professional style haircuts. The barbers here take their time in doing a haircut. I thoroughly enjoyed my cut here at Barbon's and when I was in a pinch and needed a solid haircut, I remember Barbon's being on Yelp's Top 100 Places to Treat Yourself last year. Without hesitation I immediately went onto their website to make a booking. After waiting for a few days, it was time to go in and get my cut. Located on east 7th, Barbon's is pretty easy to find and the shop itself has an upscale vibe. Folks are very friendly here and my stylist Brianna did a great job on my hair and beard. She picked up immediately on what I wanted and how to do it and I really liked how my visit turned out. I got a haircut with a shampoo, neck massage, hot towel, and a detailed beard trim. I've been in Austin for 8 months now and haven't settled in to a regular barber, but I think I just found my dude at Barbon's. Jimmy and I have a bit in common so conversation was easy. He took his time and really gave me a more thorough haircut than I was expecting. I booked an undercut and he ended up spending so much time on me that the receptionist had to pass him a note to tell him his next appointment was ready. Jimmy's new at this shop so I'm sure he'll have to learn to speed up a bit to fit the shop's vibe which is a bummer because I enjoyed him taking his time. Will definitely come back for another cut with Jimmy at some point. The only negative was that the receptionist tried to charge me double the price on the cut since Jimmy did more work than I had asked for. That wasn't my request, and I was never asked if I wanted more than just the undercut. Thankfully she charged me the amount I agreed to at booking, but it was a bit awkward to be asked to pay more. I left Jimmy a good tip for doing the extra work. I guess they offer beer and coffee, but I was not offered any of those when I came in, perhaps because of the cheaper booking. read more

After a stroke of fate, I met Bri at a different place of business over a year ago. I have followed her to 3 different locations now (and will continue to do so). Really wanted to rate this place higher, but the service that I got was at best underwhelming. The haircut by itself was meh. The barber faded a little too high up my head, so my hair on top looks more like a bad muffin top. I booked a basic haircut (Although apparently this barbershop considers a 0.5 a bald fade, so I could only go as low as a 1, which I think should be clearer on y'alls website). Maybe I caught her on a bad day/afternoon, but Leticia seemed to be disinterested the entire time. Didn't ask a lot of questions concerning exactly what I wanted, and her attitude seemed like she wanted to get the entire service over with. Also didn't get every service that was listed on the website for a $50 haircut. Still tipped 20% because I didn't want to be an asshole, but I either will not be coming back or only if I can book a specific barber who consistently has positive shout-outs from other people. read more

I've been coming here since 2018, and I've always had a good experience, whoever it was that cut my hair on a given day. Just be aware of their cancellation policy, which is strict. I got sick over the weekend, attempted to call on short notice to reschedule my appointment, and was told I would be charged the full amount anyway, since I hadn't called within 24 hours. (Never mind they had been closed the Sunday and Monday before my call, and there was no way to modify the appointment online, other than cancelling.) Not an ideal way to treat a long-time customer. Sarita, the proprietor and head barber, is well. brilliant. I originally met Sarita at one of the "Chain" barbershops in town. A month or so back, I got a phone call before my regularly scheduled hair appointment letting me know Sarita no longer worked there and would I want to keep my appointment. I did only because I needed my beard trimmed badly. Fortunately, the substitute barber mentioned she had set out on her own. I did a little search and found her at her brand spanking new place Barbon's. I was able to book an appointment online, very simple to do, and yesterday I got to check out her new space. The shop itself is gorgeous! Big heavy leather furniture in the waiting area, deep dark wood trim through out the shop. Think something like Steam Punk meets 1920's Barber shop, without all the kitschy silly bits. It really is well appointment and feels luxurious and not hipster. The shop fits the environment that's growing up along E 7th. Upon arriving, I was offered a drink, they have beers and a little whiskey and regular soft drinks. I grabbed me a cold one while the wifey took a seat on the sofa to read and enjoy her Hefeweizen. Sarita is a great barber and takes charge of the appointment, asking lot's of questions, making sure you get the cut and length you want. She knows her way around a beard and mustache does a fantastic job trimming and cleaning up the stray hairs. Cuts come with a wonderfully relaxing shampoo and head massage, hot towel to relax you. She is funny and witty to talk to while or she can be a quiet as you want to be. Sometimes I'm chatty and other times I'm just reflective and lost in my thoughts while she goes about the business of making me look ab fab. Some cool things happening right now, 20% off you first cut. And if you schedule your time right, you can drop by Salt & Time for lunch and then Spun for ice cream afterwards.
