It is so great to have access to talented and kind barbers here. I come here every other month and always walk out super satisfied with service and care I get when I get my haircut and underside faded. The shop is always playing banging music (just last week they were playing Megan Thee Stallion), always offer you a beverage, and keep it super friendly. This barber spot is surrounded by a local juice bar (with optional vinyl browsin'), vintage store, and even a gym at the end of the area. It also is steps away from more than a handful of local food trucks. You can literally hit several places at once before or after your fresh fade. Parking is super easy but might be tight especially if the gym has a class going on but you shouldn't ever have a problem finding a spot. Overall, this is a super awesome place! Dogs! The staff bring their dogs and it is heaven! Adrian & Andres! Both of these guys are skilled and just all around great guys. I got lucky and walked in one day and Adrian had just had a cancellation. He took care of me quickly and gave me exactly what I wanted. Next time I was in I was matched up with Andres. We were doing full cut, shave, and beard trim. He spends a lot of time getting every detail correct. I would recommend both of them! Note: I watched a guy come in with some, already pretty, long, blonde hair. While Andres was cutting my hair Adrian was cutting his. When he left, he looked like a million bucks! Atmosphere! Very laid back* and unpretentious. *My only complaints/criticisms would be how loud it can get in there. They play some hardcore, heavy metal music at times. It just is not my thing and is probably the only genre of music of which I am not fan. Lastly, there was an obnoxiously loud stylist who was speaking at the top of her lungs and laughed like she was the only person in the room. This place isn't huge and has, maybe 7-8 chairs. So it is just rude and inconsiderate, IMO. This should not discourage you from giving them a try (unless you have very sensitive hearing). I will definitely be back! read more

Robin cut my hair (skin fade). He took his time, and it was clear he had high attention to detail. I have an aggressive cowlick that most people fail to detail with correctly. Simply put, the stylist did not listen and cut my hair the way THEY wanted, not the way I wanted. I had a nice long flowing hair and wanted a couple inches off the top to clean it up. Instead, I got a buzz cut on the sides and back and only a couple inches left on top. I would not recommend this place unless you don't want a say in what your hair looks like. read more

I come to this Shed's Barber because of Rob, He always does a phenomenal job. Rob cuts and trims my hair like a pro, He's always polite, efficient, and ready to go, The time spent with Rob is relaxing and worthy to reminisce I usually arrive disheveled, but afterwards I walk out feeling a peaceful bliss. ------------ Story goes - a few years ago I noticed my friend's hair always looked so neat and trim and dapper. I asked him who cuts his hair and he says: "I go see Rob @ Shed's Barber on 1st. He's the best so he's always busy, and I've been seeing him for years". I'm really particular about getting my hair trimmed, and by now I've learned the differences between a good and bad haircut. With my experience most haircuts look great right when they're first finished. But 2-3 weeks later when the hair starts to grow - that's when you can judge the quality of the haircut and see how it holds up. If it was cut well, it will grow out symmetrically and seamless, no fuss involved. With a bad cut I end up having specific areas growing out and it starts to look awkward and more cumbersome to style. And soon after that it's prematurely time to get a new haircut. This never happens with Rob's haircuts, he is a master of his craft. All of his cuts have sustained and held up well over the test of time. They look great right afterwards and continue for weeks on end, it never fails. Not only does he know what he's doing, but he also knows what's the best fit for you and he's consistently great at it. He's got my hair and styling down to a science. And it's also the little things @ Shed's that put them over the top. Towards the end of the haircut Rob will put a warm towel around the back of my neck and forehead (which puts me to sleep), and then he applies shaving cream and trims your neckline w/ a razor - which is nicer compared to an electric shaver. The aftershave he uses smells great, and sometimes he'll add some wax to style my hair. I always walk out feeling totally relaxed and in bliss, it truly is time well spent, a great experience. Customer service here has always been polite and professional. Pre-covid times they would offer you a tasty beverage when you walked in or while you wait. For current pandemic times they are all masked up and use sanitizer, and I've observed everyone follows it accordingly, good piece of mind for me. It's really easy to set up an appointment with Rob or any of their staff - I just go online and click on the service I want - then choose a specific barber (or not) - and it pulls up the calendar with several options. I get an email verification and a reminder too which helps. It's very easy and intuitive. read more

Mr. Smidgens here!! What's this? #200!!! Here we go! My hair was touched by one woman for 10 years! I was sad to see her go. We had a great run. What was Mr. Smidgens to do? Well I looked all over Austin for her replacement. Others tried and failed to fill her shoes. I tried to come to terms with the void that had now entered my life. I settled. I knew in my heart and in my hair I could do better. Well one night whilst watching a Robynn Shayne show at The Hole In The Wall, I noticed an aquaintence had a fresh and fly head of hair. I felt shame. I too wanted the look I once had and the feeling of content with my hair. He mentioned Shed and he described a woman that sounded like a godsend from the heavens above. 2 days later I was ready to take the leap of faith once more. Alas it was not meant to be! Shed is open 10-7pm from Tuesday to Saturday. It was Sunday. Days passed and it was finally Tuesday morning. I was nervous and excited all at once! I called and asked to make an appointment with Heather. The voice on the other end asked, "For today?" Oh no, I thought. She must be booked. Nope, she had an opening at 2pm. Woohoo! Time seemed to take forever and the drive was one of the longest I had taken in quite sometime even though my potential angel of barbershop perfection was only 11 minutes away. I pulled into the lot off of South 1st and made my way inside. With David Bowie playing on the record player and the smell of old school barbershops from days past, I was offered a beer. I abided. With my beer in hand I saw Heather. She called me over and we shook hands. I was ready and she did not disappoint! Heather cut my locks just the way I wanted her to. She was as meticulous as a sculptor chiseling their finest piece. She finished me off with hot shaving cream and a straight edge shave. She did a fantastic job and I even got my loves approval! I previously wrote a review about this place when after my first visit with Brandon who is no longer there anymore. That was back in October. Since then, I've been going to Art and I just have to write up a new review all about him. It was really hard for me to choose which barber to go to after Brandon left because my decisions were always based on reviews of that person. I saw Art's name a lot and decided to go with him. Since day 1. The very first time after he cut my hair, I told him that if he just so happens to suddenly leave, I'm following him wherever he goes. Art knows EXACTLY what he's doing. When I first started going to him, I'd only have to tell him ONCE what I wanted and he always got it on point. We've gotten to the point where now I just sit down, he does his thing and it comes out beyond perfect. Art and I converse a lot when I'm in the chair. And as much in-depth conversation we have, you'd think the cut would be a little less than perfect or even take longer to accomplish. But that's definitely not the case with him. I have an undercut/manbun cut. He's been helping me throughout the beginning on how/what I should be doing with it while in the process of growing. Suggested the perfect products and taught me the best methods of styling for each growing stage. Of course, he makes it look much easier than it really is. I decided to write this review because I just got my haircut this past Thursday and I'm not even exaggerating when I say I've literally gotten compliments on my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY since then. Compliments from guys and girls at the gym. Random people at the bars (Even a gay guy tried to hit on me!). Employees at the grocery store. My co-workers. You name it. Anyways. Needless to say. The haircuts are always great and the atmosphere is wonderful, but appointments are canceled at the last minute far too often (5 cancellations in the last few months for me). I understand that things come up and cancellations by individual barbers often have perfectly good reasons, but there comes a point where you just have to go somewhere else when the odds of actually making the appointment on the day you booked it are only 50-50. read more

Letitia and Tyler. Two names to remember... My father in law and I needed a new barber because we moved South. I attended a cutting class at SHED and found the place clean and really COOL with nice music. Letitia did dad's hair. She's so incredibly kind and thoughtful and treated dad with respect and dignity. (My father in law suffers from the onset of dementia and ca get lost quickly. Letitia was gentle and sweet with him and I will be forever grateful) She did a great job on his cut too. Tyler....this young man is amazing. I HATE telling people I do hair because I'm always wary it will make them nervous. I told Tyler what I wanted and let him do the work. He did a wonderful job. Scheduled an appointment here on the recommendations of coworkers. They primarily frequent the holly location so the issues i had are most likely location specific. Staff was super unprofessional and the place had a very uninviting vibe. Staff was constantly swearing while i was waiting, which was kind of odd but whatever, i still was not really thrilled about sitting in there for the next hour with what was going on but whatever. But after a VERY insensitive SLUR was thrown around by the staff i felt uncomfortable supporting their business and staff. Pretty shocked and disappointed by the experience. read more

SHED is the place to go. The customer service is consistently out of this world top notch. The atmosphere is really cool. It has that Austin feel I love with a great appreciation of art and music. A mix of everything from electronica to rock music. Go in and get a complementary drink while you enjoy the great art and music. Cool industrial feel while maintaining that masculine environment. Ask for Art. This gent combines his passion and skills to create any masterpiece you want. He also offers good tips and opinions based on his experience. If you want a new style, I recommend bringing a picture so he can get a better idea as a picture says a lot more. He always exceeds my expectations as he did with my hair and with my new style. Also, his fades, no matter what length, are ALWAYS flawless. You will always leave with a perfect fade. And even better, you will always leave feeling like a stud. Thanks Art for all the work you do.
