I would NEVER recommend this company. I booked July 2016 to go with them to Cuba in November 2016. The trip fell through. They provided no communication along the way. Each person you would speak with would give a different reason for 1 - airfare, 2 - visa requirements, 3 - mandatory health insurance. The point was they never had their sh$t together and it ended up costing us our trip. They did refund the money but their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I travel the world and have used multiple travel companies - in addition to independent travel. LJ is unorganized and will nickle and dime the traveler with added fees. You get what you pay for, right? Take my advice, spend a little more money and go with a better company. NEVER AGAIN! Top it off, unlike other companies with a FB page, LJ blocks their page so you can't share a review - wonder why?!? read more

My partner and I booked a cruise last year for a cruise earlier this year leaving out of San Juan. Unfortunately, we didn't make the cruise because of severe snow storm however we did try to make our best effort having to go through 6 cancellations and re-booking through the 2 two airlines (where the average hold time on the phone at the time was 1.5 hours), going through 4 airports and being stranded in New York without winter clothes (as we were expecting to be in a place with tropical weather). The next flight back to where we came from was three days away so we decided to take the bus. All that effort and expenses for the most expensive non-vacation we've ever had. I called the travel agencies after-hours number and they immediately said we can't refund but can try to put us on the next port of call. We tried too however due to the severity of the weather, that flight got cancelled for 7 hours so we wouldn't be able to make it to the port to board in time anyway. I called my travel agent and she said she can't do anything, we can get anything back. She said the only way to get the money back is if we bought the travel insurance. Through them, there is no way to get anything back, not even credit towards another vacation nor will they send a request to the cruise. I think this company is lacking a lot of customer service and compassion given that we clearly gave it our best effort and had been frustrated the past couple of days. They didn't care about keeping us as customers and would rather keep the quick buck that they got from us. I do not recommend this business at all. CHECK REVIEWS ONLINE. You will find that this business have a lot sales/customer services related complaints. You're better off with more established travel agencies out there who clearly care about customer experience. read more

I will give you a 1 star rating, that was because the cruise was good! Back in December my husband and I booked a cruise and land tour with Legendary Journeys to leave on May 14, 2016. We had trouble getting our flight schedule and our shuttle and hotel information. Finally received two days before we were to leave. The shuttle services we had were a joke, mostly with a 12 passenger van that stopped and picked up passengers and dropped them off all the way to Fairbanks, Alaska. After 9 1/2 hours of riding with a driver that kept playing with his flip phone and consistently driving on the wrong side of the road, we arrived in Fairbanks. Our tour in Fairbanks was a joke.....we finally went next door to the hotel and rented a car for the remainder of our trip, we weren't going to ride that 12 passenger van again. The best decision we made! I would have been better off booking my cruise and land tour through a cruise ship, would have gotten better prices too. We booked an "escorted" Alaska land and sea trip for 16 days, with them to meet us in Anchorage and escort us by "bus" to three other land destinations and finally to the Norwegian Star for a one-week cruise. When we got to the airport it became evident that there was no escort. We identified a passenger van with a luggage carrier and the other 10 people who had signed up. The driver knew nothing about the surroundings so could provide no informative tour. The carrier was too small for all our luggage and the van was really too small for all of us. We rode cramped together with our luggage for 8 hours to Denali. All 12 of us were calling and emailing LJ asking where the guide was, but we got no response and the whole trip we were forced to figure out where to find our transportation, what excursions were available on line, book them ourselves, get ourselves to the excursion, etc. One hotel front desk began referring to us as the Lost Group. All LJ actually did is book hotels and reserve the already free transportation available through hotels and airports. Everyone was so disappointed and some were pretty angry. To date, though all of us have written long email letters detailing our miseries, no one has received an apology (other than a form letter which was so general as to be meaningless, and a coupon for $200 off on our next journey with them, which we had ALL made clear was never going to happen). We had to spend our own money on a lot of the transportation and the hassle factor was high. We (and the other five couples from all over the country) should all be reimbursed for some substantial part of our costs. My husband is visually impaired, which is why we signed up for an escorted tour. We really needed the assistance. Lucky for us, the other people in our group were very travel savvy and we all pitched in to help each other. No thanks to Legendary Journeys. Avoid them at all costs. read more

The Best of Cuba, Aug. 6-Aug 13, 2017. There were just 5 of us in our group and our wonderful guide, Luis. It was a delightful trip... accommodations in both Trinidad and Havana were comfortable and our hosts friendly and helpful. Luis was extremely knowledgeable and gave us much information about every place and thing we saw. Amazing one could have that much information stored on one's brain. The only complaint, perhaps, was the long car ride from Trinidad back to Havana, but we did stop in Cienfuegos and a couple of other places. Cuba is a beautiful country and I hope it remains open to tourism. It would help the economy there very much. I would visit again. After reading some of the negative comments, I can only say, that, my guess is, LJ has made some improvements this year. read more

RUN! Don't walk as far away from this company as you can as fast as possible. They were a nightmare to work with. They don't answer phones they don't reply to emails. When they cancelled our trip at the last moment and we also found out they cancelled two other trips the same way, we suspect that they are on the road to bankruptcy because they are not paying back the money they owe us. What a poor operation. Used bait and switch to book us on a large cruise ship then changed it to a smaller ship with no notice. No one to contact at LJ, no return of calls or email. Skipped the trip and wrote a letter. No response. Terrible planners, terrible providers, terrible customer service. These people just do not care. I will never use them again and recommend that you do not either. There are many travel agents and arrangers to choose from. Chose wisely, avoid this one. read more

I would never travel with Legendary Journeys again. Although the ship docked in Montego Bay, Jamaica, at 8 a.m. and we were off the ship by 8:30 a.m., our transfer to the airport was not there - Jamaican dock personnel had to call twice to get the transport company to come. LJ would not discuss flights from Montego Bay to Fort Lauderdale with any of us and then put us on a flight leaving Montego Bay at 4:51 p.m., the only Spirit Airline flight out of Montego Bay. Having to book a flight less than a week before embarkation in order to make my connecting flight from Fort Lauderdale cost me an additional $215. LJ would not consider reimbursing the $99 flight because they had booked non-refundable tickets. If LJ really cared about their customers, it would have refunded the money and taken the (for them) small loss. LJ personnel gave no information regarding the tour, other than the brochure we initially received, although we asked numerous questions. read more

We participated in the trip to Cuba on the Celestyal Crystal starting January 6, 2017. As planned, the ship went from Montego Bay to Santiago de Cuba. However, it diverted from docking in Havana to the southern city of Cienfuegos the next day and remained there until we returned to Jamaica on January 13 despite favorable weather. We were very disappointed that we missed so much, especially Havana at night. Celestyal Cruises tried to make amends by providing bus transportation to Havana (3.5 hours one way) on two days, a 3-hour bus trip for a day in Trinidad, and lunches. We were especially frustrated by the second 7-hour round trip to Havana where we were allocated 50 minutes in either the fine arts museum or the revolutionary museum across the street, 30 minutes in a craft warehouse, a short ride around the city and a 2.5-hour lunch in the same restaurant we had incredibly bad service on the first bus trip to Havana. The Legendary Journeys tour director made things worse by blaming everybody around her instead of outlining an itinerary and sticking to a schedule so we didn't have 2 hours of sightseeing and 7 hours on the bus. She was clearly out of her depth. We did not sign up for a bus trip and expressed our disappointment to Legendary Journeys but, to date, have had no response. This is in keeping with the generally poor communications we had from the first. In addition, we were told that the $95 fee for the "People to People" program that LJ collected from each of us was free from the Cuban government. Never again. read more

I'd give it no stars if I could. We booked a cruise last July for the MSC Seaside Inaugural cruise, 21 days. We booked the YC1 Yacht Club experience, which included unlimited drinks for the entire cruise, access to special dining areas, pools and such, paid over $10,000. Airfare was also included in this package. On August 8th, we get an email that they cannot fulfill our cabin request, and offer us a Fantastica Suite (Balcony Room) for an $860 credit per person, which includes 12 drinks per person. No other amenities. We were told that MSC had overbooked the cruise. We had to accept the offer by end of business the next day. Or, we could get a full refund. Their credit per person was ridiculous. We could have purchased the same room for about $6k through their own website. We cancelled, and got our refund. We contacted MSC directly to discuss our reservation and were told that Legendary Journey's had booked us a Fantastica Suite on March 24th, 4 1/2 months prior to advising us of a problem. They had never booked us a YC1 cabin with MSC. So we view this as a bait and switch, pure and simple. If you don't get a Booking # from a travel agent....don't book with them. We'll never use these folks again. read more

What a nightmare!! We booked a 7 night Legendary Journey trip to Cuba. We arrived at our hotel on 3/22/17 expecting to be part of an organized tour . At 6:00 pm that evening we were to meet in the lobby to meet the tour guide and other members of our tour. No worry me showed up and we were the only two people in the group. It was not until the next evening after we contacted a local guide that someone showed up. This is an unreliable, unprofessional and the most difficult company I've ever come across! Beware! beware! The prices on their website are deceptively advertised. Call and it's always "that rate is not available anymore.." Trust me. It's happened to me 7 times. I did use them for two cruises without any issues but in trying to book new ventures, it's always bait and switch. The website price indicates port and government taxes and fees included in price, but then lately, they have indicated you need to scroll down and see what appears to be a breakdown of the taxes and fees but in reality, they get added onto the "taxes and fees included" pricing. today: An advertised $399 inside cabin, 7 day on the MSC Divina turned out to be $768.01. How do these people stay in business? Then they tell you that they only have limited "blocks" available and that the cruise line pulls them 100 days (another agent said 120 days) prior to sailing although they continue to sell the package on their website. This company deserves zero stars. Both the pre-tour preparations and the one-week "Best of Cuba" tour in March 2017 were inefficient, poorly done, and inexcusably executed. Among our initial difficulties were: (1) misspelled names on official documents for the ticket; (2) extra charges for charges for premium air fare that we specifically said we did not want; (3) double billings on my credit card for the charge for the trip; this was not resolved for several weeks and the resolution may have been simply because I got fed up and called my credit card company and they looked into it; (4) poor and untimely responses to nearly everything we asked about. It took well over a month to get the form that we had to fill out for the people-to-people program. While in Cuba, we had the following issues: (1) the hotel quality was inexcusable. The rooms had what looked like mold on the walls in both rooms, a heavy curtain that couldn't be pulled back from the windows, and windows so filthy one could not see out of them; I won't go into the quality of the bathroom; (2) the first local "tour" turned out to be no more than a suggestion to take advantage on our own of the local hop-on/hop-off general tourist bus around the city. Legendary Journeys explained that we would have to fork over the $10 for the tour but they would give us a $15 credit to be used with the company; how we are to get the credit is still to be determined; (3) The "Venice of Cuba" tour never happened because the way the local guide explained the tour it sounded like a day on our own at the beach (which we didn't want) rather than a tour of the canals of the city of Mantanzas which was described in the materials we had; we were given several somewhat unclear options as alternatives. The one we agreed to--a coffee plantation and fort visit--ended up being no more than a stop at a restaurant on the coffee plantation with no explanation of anything and then a 1 1/2 hour stop at an overpriced restaurant near the fort for which we had to pay the cost of the meal. Because the tour had started late, we never did see the fort. We stopped only briefly on the way back for a view across inlet bay of Havana. So for a 4-5 hour "tour", we saw virtually nothing. And, the tour van was utterly filthy, and unsafe to be on the road. The ceiling was peeling, the windows were so dirty they could barely be seen out of, the front windshield was full of cracks, and likely due to van's having such poor shock absorbers, it could only go about 30 mph on the highway. All just for us. There were many other clean, high-quality vans out and about, so other options were clearly available; (4) When we complained in some detail to the local operators about the hotel and tour issues, they apologized and acknowledged the validity of our complaints but mostly said it was all in the hands of Legendary Journeys and they couldn't do anything about it. Give yourself a break, and do not use Legendary Journeys or Al and Chuck Travel. read more

In July/2015, along with 45 of my senior neighbors and friends, booked a reservation with Legendary Journey for a Caribbean Cruise to depart Jan/2017.I paid the requested deposit of $300, which was all that was asked of me. In Sept. my back deformities escalated to the point that I now require drastic surgery, to take place Jan/2017 requiring a yearlong recovery. My surgeon will not let me travel during that time. He wrote a letter stating I was not to travel beginning Jan/2017. I sent the cancellation notice and the letter from my doctor, to Legendary Journey and was told I wouldn't receive the refund of deposit because, DUE TO THEIR ERROR, my travel insurance was never paid. When I read my confirmation it states (as part of the amount charged to me) the travel insurance of $70. However Legendary states the insurance has to be paid separately and directly to the insurance carrier. NO ONE EVER ASKED ME TO PAY THIS SEPARATELY. THEIR ERROR...THEIR INCOMPETENCY. YET I AM EXPECTED TO SUFFER THE LOSS. $300 is a lot of money to me. At this point, LJ looked more closely at our groups' reservations and they realized that 5 others never paid for insurance. Imagine the possibilities that 5 elderly, some infirm, seniors traveling out of the country, on a huge ship of 5000 passengers, visiting multiple islands without any insurance coverage at all. The agent who handled our reservation, Cathy Mariani, is no longer with them...Gee, I wonder why? When I found that I would not be able to travel for at least a year, maybe more, I quickly booked the BOGO Rhine River cruise with LJ for October, (before I knew they were not refunding my deposit) and came to find out that at least half of the 92 people on board had major complaints with this company but continue to do business with them because they offer such low prices. I am not OK with condoning this crooked business practice so I am filing a small claims against them. At this point, I don't care how much it costs me, someone has to take a stand against this injustice."You pay for what you get" should be Legendary's motto. read more

i recently traveled with 7 others to spain and took a 12 night cruise on royal caribbean " brilliance of the seas.the travel agent sheila , was unprofessional. she was quick to ask for payment, but refused to give us any real details of out trip until a week before our departure. the hotel in spain was old, there was no ac, my credit card was compromised, and the service was poor. we were never given any choices about where we could stay or the rating of our hotel. we had to call and email her several times just to get information. we spent well over $4k for this vacation. the transportation services were late on all occasions. do your homework!! do not use legendary journeys. you are better off booking yourself!!legendary journeys made a once in a lifetime trip a legendary nightmare!!! read more

Not a pleasant experience with a cruise to Cuba. Very poor communication. We had to bug them to get our travel documents and then we didn't receive the emailed documents until the day before we boarded the ship. We needed hard copies of the documents and had to print them. Thank goodness we were not traveling and had access to a printer. They provided limited knowledge of the City's we visited in Cuba. Without access to other tour company agents on board the ship we would have had very limited local.knowledge. Also the company does not tell you what airline or airport you will be departing from and returning to and the associated airlines until two or three days prior to departure. They stuck us on Spirit airlines which has the worst customer service rating in the airline industry. All the other airlines allow fifty pounds per bag. The cruise allows seventy pounds per bag. Spirit only allows forty pounds. Also, you have to pay more for checked bags if there are not declared at the time of booking. You are always going to pay more because LJ makes the reservations. The Spirit baggage charges can amount to several hundred dollars which puts booking air travel with LJ in question. LJ should let the traveler know LJ is creating a baggage bottleneck for the passenger when they book with Spirit. In my opinion they are a huge buyer beware company. Doubtful we would use them again. read more

We used Legendary Journeys for a trip to Cuba we just returned from an early December 2016. We paid extra to pick our room, requested a balcony, got an invoice with the balcony on it, and then two weeks later -sorry no balcony. This happened to two other groups on the tour also. Legendary Journeys were disorganized from start to finish. I could give you ten ways they screwed up before the trip even started but will limit it to massive misinformation that cost us almost $1000 in airline and hotel costs. Their agent screwed up our transfer out of Montego Bay and we ended up on Spirit which was problematic because they have a different luggage weight limit than the boat . And Tami-their on board representative/tour director - was a complete waste. She knew nothing, did nothing, had two meetings that had minimal or no content. Out the 40 odd people in our group I don't think anyone tipped her or would recommend her or this agency again. Roads Scholars does the same trip on the same boat but are far more professional. I recommend you go with them. In 40 years of travel I have never had this bad an experience. But the Celestyal Cruise team was good. read more
