I would NEVER recommend this company. I booked July 2016 to go with them to Cuba in November 2016…read more The trip fell through. They provided no communication along the way. Each person you would speak with would give a different reason for 1 - airfare, 2 - visa requirements, 3 - mandatory health insurance. The point was they never had their sh$t together and it ended up costing us our trip. They did refund the money but their customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I travel the world and have used multiple travel companies - in addition to independent travel. LJ is unorganized and will nickle and dime the traveler with added fees. You get what you pay for, right? Take my advice, spend a little more money and go with a better company. NEVER AGAIN! Top it off, unlike other companies with a FB page, LJ blocks their page so you can't share a review - wonder why?!?

My partner and I booked a cruise last year for a cruise earlier this year leaving out of San Juan…read more Unfortunately, we didn't make the cruise because of severe snow storm however we did try to make our best effort having to go through 6 cancellations and re-booking through the 2 two airlines (where the average hold time on the phone at the time was 1.5 hours), going through 4 airports and being stranded in New York without winter clothes (as we were expecting to be in a place with tropical weather). The next flight back to where we came from was three days away so we decided to take the bus. All that effort and expenses for the most expensive non-vacation we've ever had. I called the travel agencies after-hours number and they immediately said we can't refund but can try to put us on the next port of call. We tried too however due to the severity of the weather, that flight got cancelled for 7 hours so we wouldn't be able to make it to the port to board in time anyway. I called my travel agent and she said she can't do anything, we can get anything back. She said the only way to get the money back is if we bought the travel insurance. Through them, there is no way to get anything back, not even credit towards another vacation nor will they send a request to the cruise. I think this company is lacking a lot of customer service and compassion given that we clearly gave it our best effort and had been frustrated the past couple of days. They didn't care about keeping us as customers and would rather keep the quick buck that they got from us. I do not recommend this business at all. CHECK REVIEWS ONLINE. You will find that this business have a lot sales/customer services related complaints. You're better off with more established travel agencies out there who clearly care about customer experience.

PART TWO On December…read more1, I received my itinerary and was reviewing it and all of the other information. I was VERY surprised to read that I would need to tip about $10-14 USD a day per guide / ranger. It would have been nice for me to be told this at the beginning when I was speaking with Marie. Not a deal breaker, but advance information would be appreciated. I have travelled extensively in the last 30 years, and I must admit, I have never had a more challenging time booking a trip as I have had with GTD. 1. The lack of understanding / clarification 2. Missing out on two excursions that I really wanted to do (Cradle of Humankind - I still don't understand why this was presented as an option and then removed, and then District 6, because she misunderstood) 3. The delays between emails, and no follow up from her end - I was always the one following up to make sure everything was completed 4. Not providing valuable information at the beginning - i.e how to pay for the trip (no VISA option) 5. Not providing valuable information during the booking - i.e extra things that I will be paying for $10-$14 USD a day = $14-$19 CDN for me at 10 days, that's an extra $200 roughly. The above information was provided to GTD prior to my departure (I have updated it with some current info) in November. I was told I would receive a response as soon as possible. I got nothing - absolutely nothing. I even followed up two other occasions. On the third occasion I "threatened" to leave a negative review if I didn't' receive a response by Jan 26. I got an email from Deon Barnard at Corporate. His response? Oh sorry? I've explain to her what she should have done, and that Canadian files are complicated. She should have gone to her supervisor. I don't think she realized how frustrated you were. His response was a slap in the face, and I emailed him back, itemizing in detail the inconsistencies in his email. I have yet to hear anything back from him, and I highly doubt I will. The trip itself was fabulous - South Africa is a gorgeous country - the big 5 are enthralling and the people are wonderful. But do yourself a favour and book with a different travel agency. Save yourself the heartache of missing out of things you wanted to see because of lack of communication, mis reading emails and flat out ignoring you.

We went in September 2021, everything opened up from Covid, and just before it closed again. Now…read moretravel looks a lot better. We had the best vacation. I loved going to South Africa and Go Touch Down did not disappoint us. We stayed at the Humala River Lodge. Our guide took us on early morning and evening safari. We saw a herd of elephants, zebras, giraffes, kudu, wildebeest, hippos. Took our first hot air balloon ride, buffet breakfast included. No worries there, our driver picked us up at the airport. Took us to each destination. They do small groups 6 people max. We flew to Cape Town, stayed at Belle Marco. What a fabulous view of Table Mtn., right on the waters edge. Went to the vineyards, saw fields of canola, baboons, lovely drive. Went to the waterfront out to see seal island. Had dinner at the seafood restaurant. Ate too much, you pick what you want at the restaurants. Everything was wonderful, it was the definitely the "Trip of a Lifetime ". I could go on forever about it. Now they've changed the itinerary this year to include Krueger and Humala. You will love Go Touch Down .
