They had informed me that they scrapped that list and went to first come first serve, which no other TCG shop goes by. They all abide by the approved list of people who successfully signed up. I am never going to this place ever again, they didn't notify me until it was too late and wasted my time. I have not had a bad experience in Sacramento with a TCG shop, but this is the icing on the cake for me. I am truly disappointed and hope they do better.

Again, I wasn't going to leave a review, but after going to another place and thinking about what I was offered on the Pokémon cards I wanted to sell/trade it almost feel downright criminal and like I was almost robbed. I went in with a good amount of graded slabs and raw Pokémon cards to sell or trade. The guy who was "helping" me started off doing the slabs and gave me the offer for those , it was a bit below what I had hoped for, but I had driven 1hr and 45 minutes to get there, plus I understand not all comps are the same. I didn't mind that offer. The PROBLEM came when he got to comping out my raw cards, it was a good amount of cards, close to 100 cards I'd like to say. When he was done comping them out and gave me an offer of around $700-$800 for all the cards. I had do a quick overview of which cards he was taking in. I immediately knew something was off because a card that was around $700 market he was offering $115 because the condition "MP" he said.. I chose not to accept the offer for the raw cards, but still closed the deal on the slabs. Got some things for trade. When I got home I started doing a bit more research on the raw cards he was going to take in and that's when I started to feel like I was almost robbed/scammed. I understand cards vary in condition and on top of that you only get a percentage not the market price for cards when selling to vendors or LCS, but the market for all the cards he was going to take was around $4k for all, the offer I was given was less than $800.. even if those cards were in awful condition (which they weren't) that offer would still be criminally low! After seeing that myself and going through the numbers again and again I felt so disappointed , irritated that someone would even do that especially at a shop!! What really pissed me off, still in my head trying to give them benefit of the doubt, trying to remain a bit positive was me going to another LCS and them telling me that I was being ripped off with that offer. I'm still in a bit of disbelief, idk how many times they do that where based on "condition" they openly rip off people who have no idea what they have, many people look towards their LCD and community to trust, but this shop has definitely failed at that for me. That aside, the staff comes off nice and welcoming, but after my experience it all seems that at least the person who deals with the Pokémon side of things has other intentions.

It will be your responsibility to sort through the duplicates of names. If theres 2 Elijahs and you happen to play the wrong one but at the right table, thats on you buddy... Round Loss. In situations where prizing could be a booster box or better... would you want a shop that doesn't respect table numbers and forces you to find your opponent? Lets say you do find "your" opponent, What if thats Elijah A and you are looking for Elijah B and didnt ask for their last initial. They genuinely enjoy being there and getting to know people. They are always so welcoming to my 4 year old and make conversation with him, instead of making us feel like we're an inconvenience. The store is well lit and spaced out, so it's easy to look through their display and their bulk. This is always my top recommended card shop.

I came in on the Pokémon 30th Anniversary release date and understood that Golden State has a markup on their products, but I was surprised by just how high the prices were. The MSRP for the ETB was $49.99, yet they were selling it for $160. At that point, I was seeing people selling the same product on Facebook Marketplace for $140-$150, so the store's pricing felt more comparable to scalper prices than a reasonable small-business markup. I ended up purchasing a 30th Anniversary EX box, but was disappointed to get home and see that it was actually $5 cheaper on TCGplayer (which was still overpriced). I completely understand that small businesses need to make a profit, and I'm happy to pay a reasonable premium to support a local shop. However, when prices are significantly above MSRP and even higher than readily available market prices online, it makes me question whether customer experience is still being prioritized. I genuinely enjoyed supporting this store when they first opened, which makes the change in pricing especially disappointing.

Even though they may not have the most competitive wax prices in the Sacramento area, they do tend to have a good variety of products that aren't just brand new. I'll swing by here if I'm looking for a product that's a few years old or something of the sort. A great example of this was this past week. I went by and found a hobby box of 2022-2023 Bowman U Best. A product that's well known for being one of the first with Caitlin Clark and Victor Wembanyama cards. And I hit a monster as well! If it weren't for their selection of stuff that's a few years old, I wouldn't have gotten that opportunity. Up until recently they had a pretty solid selection of Disney Lorcana as well, though they have stopped carrying the newest stuff, which bums my wife out! The guys here are nice and helpful and have been good dudes for as long as I've known them, dating back to their Roseville shop opening. I haven't brought anything in to sell to them directly, so I can't speak to how they operate there, but I definitely recommend giving them a look if you're in the area!

While they have great top loaders and graded slabs in the glass cases, they have an amazing bulk section that are organized beautifully by era / sets. There were plenty of people inside of all ages. Looks like they had finished playing some type of card games as there were tables set up and intense looks on their faces. Talked to Allan and told him what I was there for. He was pretty informative and friendly about the series. I am new to the scene so this took a lot of the pressure off "am I getting the right book, am I missing more in the anthology?" The book was $27, fair price and I gladly handed my cash over and said goodbyes. The shop was full of classic comic books and new ones too. Plenty of Pokémon and magic cards too.
