Will no longer be shopping or pre-ordering here for Magic the Gathering. Just wasted a half hour of gas/drive time to pick up two preordered collector booster boxes only to be told that they "oversold" and did a "first come first serve" sale of the boxes. As an apology when they get more they will be giving $20 store credit, but are still doing a first come first serve...ya no thank you, terrible way to retain a customer. What is the point of a pre-order if you're going to sell it out from under people without telling them?

I tag along with my husband to all the comic book shops in the area and this is my favorite. The energy here is so much friendlier and helpful. The guys were nice and truly want to help. They had a great selection of games. I bought one for my son - it's an escape room like game with cards. We're excited to play it. The husband, of course, found plenty he wanted! He got some good stuff from the Back Stock and Key Issues. Everyone left here today happy and smiling. Thank you!!

Mewtwo and gengar. Best two pokemon ever created.

It's probably the best game store in the area. Very much feels like a family-friendly and inclusive environment. Cozy, clean, professional.

They have a huge selection of comic books, collectibles, artwork, and fun memorabilia throughout the shop. One of my favorite parts was meeting the two adorable, well-behaved pugs who were happily hanging around the store. They definitely add to the welcoming atmosphere. The walls are covered with interesting art and displays, making the entire shop feel unique and full of personality. Everywhere you look there's something fun, quirky, or nostalgic to check out. And I have to give a special shoutout to the bathroom. I don't think I've ever mentioned a comic shop bathroom in a review before, but this one was awesome. The walls were hand-painted with beautiful koi fish artwork and even included information about the artist. It felt more like a little art exhibit than a restroom. As the wife who isn't really into comic books, I also appreciated that there was a comfortable, clean waiting area where I could relax while my husband browsed. That's a small detail, but it made the experience much more enjoyable for me. Between the friendly owner, the adorable pugs, the creative artwork, the welcoming atmosphere, and the massive selection of comics and collectibles, this place is a gem. Whether you're a serious collector, a casual fan, or just tagging along with one, it's absolutely worth stopping by.

Bailey was also great to work with as he was the person I sold the most to. You must know you will not get full market value for your comics or collectibles but what they do offer is fair and didn't feel like a low ball offer at all. I have no complaints or reservations about the overall transactions. My comic collecting days are over but if you're a collector this is the gold standard for Sacramento area comic shops. Between their Wednesday live sales and what seems to be every other month or so 50% back issue sales there are great opportunities to build your collection at fair prices. Their toy/collectible section has really expanded in the past few years particularly at the Auburn location. I'll still pop in from time to time to check out the collectibles. Have found some great stuff in the past! All 3 locations are worth a visit. Staff has always been friendly and everything seems to be well stocked and organized. Give em' a visit if you haven't yet. Lots of treasures to be discovered.

When I arrived, I was informed that the staff had manually removed me from the event without providing any prior notice. The staff member stated that he was in charge of the gaming events and had the discretion to remove registered participants who were not considered frequent or regular players. While I understand that the store may have its own policies regarding event participation, removing someone who successfully registered without any advance communication is disappointing and unprofessional. If a successful registration through the Bandai registration system does not actually guarantee a spot and participation is ultimately at the store's discretion, that should be clearly disclosed on the registration page or event details. Customers should know this before registering and making plans to attend. At a minimum, if the store decides to remove a registered participant, a courtesy call, text, or email should be provided so customers do not unnecessarily rearrange their schedules or make a wasted trip to the store. People have jobs, families, and other responsibilities and have to coordinate their schedules to attend these events. Not everyone has the ability to attend every local event or regularly visit the store. The lack of communication and consideration for customers' time was extremely frustrating. Based on this experience, I would be hesitant to register for another event here.

I remember as a kid I was an avid reader, but for some reason I thought comic books were really lame…read morebecause they weren't real books. They were just pictures with a few words and wasn't even close to what I was doing knocking out multiple books in a week. Sometime in my 30s though that all changed. As I got older,I came to appreciate the high quality of the medium,in regards to being able to have such complex stories work with such high quality artwork. So I started collecting comics and became a frequent customer to A-1 Comics in Roseville located on Sunrise Avenue. The top two things I love about this location are as follows. -Their employees really give excellent customer service. They are very helpful in assisting the customers in finding whatever they are looking for. A-1 has two other locations in the Sacramento area and multiple times I've been in Roseville and they were sold out of what I was looking for and they took it upon themselves to call their other locations to check if they had what I wanted-that's excellent customer service. -Second thing that truly stands out for me about A-1 is they aren't cheap on inventory-every week when new releases come out, they always have plenty of copies so that as many customers as possible have a good opportunity to get the issues they want-not all comic shops do this-others keep such limited inventory that they sell out too fast-A-1 rarely lets that happen. This Roseville location pretty much has its own parking lot,so there's always has plenty of parking available for its customers. In closing, I really do recommend this shop for all your comic needs-it's a pretty awesome place filled with pretty awesome employees and I always look forward to heading back out there.

Everyplace I walked, there was a blend of past and present. PlayStation 4 & 5 games, alongside rows of nostalgia that ranged in clothes, toys, accessories, movies, you name it. I really liked that the Folsom location had a way bigger selection of Funko Pops than the Arden location. There is so much stuff to look through in general at this location, since it's roomier. I also discovered a beautiful Elvis Funko, but that one I decided to hold off on for now. My husband bought a Mewtwo Funko as well (not shown). Most of the Funkos were in really good condition. There was a Stranger Things Funko that I really wanted but alas the previous owner had damaged the box. From a collector's standpoint, the prices are fair. Of course this location had other collectibles and items for sale, such as clothes, records, and whatnot. I've got plenty of records at home and only want to purchase very specific records these days, so I didn't really bother to look in their record aisles. The staff were friendly and chill.
