Took my younger grandkids as part of their Christmas presents, (trying go make memories instead of just buying more toys). They had a blast! The short movie they have was great (4D and when it rained you did get 'rained on'). Then we went to the aquarium and they got to 'pet' a sea anemone. This is a really great play area for kids. Beware you cannot re-enter once you leave. I stayed for 4 hours to get my monies worth. There's a snack area but they don't sell much... there are only snacks and you can get coffee to keep you awake while your kids play all day. It's definitely worth the money to bring your kids here. I had a good time. I was able to ride the train and another ride with my son. He got to try the virtual reality game which is an additional cost. Once you exit, there's a store where you can buy Legos. You don't need a ticket to visit the store. I wish they could offer day passes. I would have like to leave to eat then come back. What could I say? I love Lego's and I love Legoland- yes, I'm a big kid at heart- legos are an obsession for age! I am an avid connoisseur of legos and collect them- that means I love this store... if it weren't so far, I'd be here all the time... but every time we come to shop in the area or go to Great Lakes Crossing, I'm there!! There's literally always something new to look at or purchase.. it's nearly as good as going to Disney!! Legoland was one of our favorite places to take our children for special occasions until today. I bought (6) tickets for my daughter's birthday a few days ahead of time spending $170. The day of her birthday she was diagnosed with strep throat and had a high fever. I tried calling but there is not an option to speak with a representative and was directed to the website with a email link. A few days later a customer service representative wrote back to tell me they feel so bad but there is absolutely nothing they can do for me. I am so sick of these companies that have no regard for their customers. When your business is geared toward children, you need to understand circumstances like this. read more

Our first time here and it was a blast! We signed up for the 1pm time slot and purchased the extra lanyard activity for our kids ($5). They enjoyed finding each stamp and interacting with the activities in the pack. Plus the stickers at the end for completing all stamps. Clean facility. Hand sanitizer at each station. Plenty of places to sit and relax while your kids played. Snack area was closed so bring your own water and snacks. The two rides are very interactive and fun for the whole family. They had a meet and greet with a Ninja Lego character. The 4D movie was super fun! Highly recommend! Overall, we spent 4 hours here and we could have easily stayed longer. Okay, I did not expect all this awesome-ness at Legoland in Great Lakes Crossing. This was my first time going and each new room got better and better. I only expected to spend about an hour there with my 2 year old, but we ended up staying 4 hours. You first walk in to the kindest customer service. They guide you to a photo opportunity and you are on your way. First up is a cool room where you can digitally play with legos. Next room is an awesome ride where you can shoot at lego guys. (Reminded me of something at Disney.) The third room was an awesome interactive experience with legos built like downtown Detroit! It was soooo cool! You saw places like Little Caesar's arena, the Ren Cen and Ford Field! And last room was the absolute coolest, full of two playscape areas, another ride, and unbelievable fun creating and racing your own legos. I would recommend this place every time someone asked me where to take there kids! My 2 year old did not want to leave! Thanks Lego land for an awesome time! We will be back. read more

This is a block centric place. The staff were making some real efforts to only allow a couple of families in at a time. Spacing people and kids apart inside such a small space. It's a fun store. This is the second time coming here. Full disclosure I had a steep discount, three people for less than the price for one. We had a great time and stayed around four hours. There are two rides which are quite fun. One ride lets you shoot targets and keeps score. It's fun to compete against friends and family. It takes your picture so you can see if you want to purchase the photo. The other ride is a great workout, you must peddle a bicycle in order to lift your car off the ground. We went on each three or four times. They have four rotating 4D movies. We saw them all. They are adorable. You get squirt with water and bubbles and feel a lot of motion. The Detroit Zoo charges around $5 each for this type of experience so it's worth it. The kids got hungry and honestly the meals were affordable for this type of experience. A pizza, drink, and snack was only $6.50 each. Not bad considering most places charge $2 for that size drink and at least $1 per snack. The interactive model city is also fun. Don't forget to try the baseball pinball and football game while listening to Motown tunes. I am a little sad they took away the ninja experience and replaced it with sometime lesser. They used to have more free interactive games. Plus they charge you extra outside the entry fee for small activities like the wind machine and some driving video game. All in all I would rank this place about a three and a half. For a discount it's a fun afternoon. But I would never pay full price, I could see that being a big disappointment for $30 per person. read more

Before warned, this establishment has a nonsense policy that they will not deviate from, even for a harmless adult with autism. We had pre-purchased our tickets on their website, so that my 19-year-old son who has autism could have his birthday wish fulfilled and visit Legoland. When we arrived we were informed that it is a global policy that they won't let you in unless you have a child with you. This was not mentioned anywhere on the website when we were purchasing our tickets. If age is so important, why don't you have a feature where the visitors age is entered? Furthermore, if it's really that important, shouldn't you have a bright banner or two somewhere on the website that makes the policy apparent? You forced me to break my son's heart ON HIS BIRTHDAY, and you did it without sympathy or care. Policies of this nature do not make sense, and you should've considered the circumstances of the situation a little more carefully. I am bitterly disappointed. read more

I went into Legoland with a bit of a lower expectation based on the reviews but my cousin and I had a really great time! Now, we had a coupon (thanks to my awesome coupon clipping friend) and bought the package with Sealife so it wasn't exactly full price but for what we paid I thought it was a ton of fun. The displays are super cute (love how Detroit centric they are) and the tribute to Aretha Franklin was a nice touch. They have a couple of rides, which we were NOT expecting and my little cousin loved (I think we did the medieval one where you shoot the zombie knights about 5 times) and the little build'em areas were creative and fun. If we hadn't spent a good chunk of time at the aquarium we probably would have spent more time in those areas, but I was reaching my threshold of kid activities so I reigned her in! There are snacks, which we did not partake in save for some dip 'n dots, so I can't speak to the food, but it is offered there so you don't have to leave the area to get fed. Although pickins are slim (think grilled cheese) and they are pricey. But overall, for a day trip that we'd do once and a while I think it was a really fun time. I wouldn't go all that often, but as a "hey, kid you're on vacation let's go do something" kind of activity it fit the bill. read more

Visiting for the first time. Once you enter the after checking in, there is place to capture photo by scanning the ticket provided at the checkin counter. After that next spot is with screens playing videos about legos and you can do interactive things using the controller by selecting the faces, body and legs for Lego characters. Next is the kingdom quest riding in car to shoot using the laser guns. Car has 2 rows, people sitting on the front row can use the guns. It takes couple of minutes. Then you enter the mini land that has the landmarks in Detroit made with Lego like airport, ambassador bridge, little ceasers arena, ford field, gm renaissance tower etc You have small ride (apprentice ride) which goes higher once you do pedal. Smaller kids needs to be accompanied by adults if they don't meet the height restriction. Then the Lego building area where you have tables to sit and create Lego structures at you like. Also next to it you can build cars and put slide them from small tracks. Cafe is closed due to pandemic. There is also 4D movie show running every 20 minutes. Next is the play area. This attraction is lame, lackluster, and expensive. It's geared for very small kids, which you can assume going in. But everyone likes Lego. And there is little to nothing aimed at the adult builder. Even a kid older than 8 will certainly be bored. There is one room full of professional builds. I thought the whole place might be like that. But once you leave that room, there's nothing else cool to see. There is one interactive shooting ride, which is ok. There is a merry go round. There is a little kid climbing area. There is a theater. There are several small build areas, but there are very few pieces to build with. The brick bins are practically empty. So even if your kid is having fun on the play area, you can't sit and build anything cool. They had some virtual reality thing that was broken. I don't think their snack counter was open. Did not try the bathroom. I couldn't wait to get out of there. The gift shop was well stocked. But I wouldn't have bought anything there just to make a point. They have a "make a mini fig" station, but like the other build areas, it's dirty and under-stocked. And I think it was $13+. Total failure. Spend the money on a new kit, not this place. read more

I came here with my nephew and friends children and wasn't sure honestly what to expect. I found coupons which helped offset the cost as I didn't want to pay $60ish for 2 adults for something mainly geared for kids. We arrived first thing in the morning and it was a smooth transition into the facility. Right away we got on a ride which was pretty fun for all involved. It included small hand held lasers to aim at objects along the way. Fun and interactive! After exiting the ride you enter a legoland exhibit that is all Detroit. Detroit landmarks and buildings which was pretty cool to see. Then you enter the main area which includes plenty of areas to build with Legos as well as a playground and another area with a slide. The 4D movie theater was also pretty fun. Sounds, fog and even water made it fun for the kids and the adults watching the movie. (The water sprayed was a bit chilly though) There is food if you wanted to eat lunch, a room with a master builder and another area where older kids can go to a class and build an object out of legos. So much to do there. Plus a huge gift shop to spend all of your hard earned LEGO money. ;). All in all a great experience for kids and young at heart adults. read more

Our situation: We went on a Thursday, at 12pm. My girlfriend, her nieces, and I, We all bought the combo tickets, Legoland and sealife. We reserved the day before. No need to wear masks. Pros: -Really big for being inside of a mall! -The playground was the most amazing part for the kids -4D movie was also really amazing, it was only a 10-15 minute video, but definitely a cool part of it. -If your kid loves building, you can spend a lot of time here because there are a lot of building opportunities. Man, we had a lot of fun here! We just moved to Grand Blanc and I spotted the outlet on my drive to the National Guard base near Detroit. I've always had mild enthusiasm for Lego but this trip has made me into an aspiring enthusiast. Right from the beginning of the tour you get a sneak peek into how LEGO's are made and you even get a chance to make some characters of your own. After that you go to a fun rail shooter road and then you end up in Lego land. There are a few themed Lego areas with an awesome 4D theater. There is a good snack area with solid options. There's also a play area of the Little ones get tired of playing with legos. Overall, this was a great experience. The admission price is a little steep but there are some discounts to be had if you're military or if you get your tickets online. My only two gripes are the expensive food and that o want more legos! If you have a big family like mine and you have the money, then you should make this a family trip. Plus, it is located inside of a giant outlet mall so there is more food and shopping to be done. read more

Coming from someone with a Lego Obsessed son, I have to say my son seemed bored and I was honestly into it more then him. I loved seeing the whole Detroit/Michigan city made from Legos. It was Oct 28th when we visited so there where alot of Halloween Character figures as well as decor through out. My 6 year old really wasent interested in playing in the play area and we only spent about 30 mins here. They did have 2 rides ( couldnt ride them because we had a 8 mth old with us). Also a mini movie. Be sure to check Groupon for tickets as they have good deals sometimes. You can also find the "Kids go free" coupons at certain stores/ restaurants. My family came up from Texas so we decided to take the kids to Lego land because the one in San Antonio Texas is AWESOME!!! This one.... Not even a little bit. There were 2 teenage employees only, the bathrooms were DISGUSTING!!! Poop and pee everywhere and no toilet paper! Not to mention half of the attractions were closed! No food or snacks or drinks available for sale either. There should have been a discount on the tickets for that reason in my opinion. I wouldn't recommend it nor will we be coming back. I am probably spoiled having lived in LA for 5 years before returning to Michigan, but this is essentially a glorified McDonalds Playland. Two "rides" include a track with laser guns to shot at bad guys. A carnie like spinning tea cup ride that is really no different than the traveling carnivals. Throw in a 4D movie which is ok compared to the rest and there you have it. Oh except for the waiting in lines. That is the thing you seem to do the most waiting 15-20 mins on a slow afternoon for the rides. Honestly I'd recommend hitting McD's then going over to Target and buying some Legos. Take the curves a little fast and you've simulated be experience at a far lower cost. read more

I came here as a chaperone for my sons kindergarten class. The kids got there right before the place opened at 10am, and as I understand it, were suppose to be let in as soon as they opened. We had to wait around for about 30 minutes before they let us in. The person leading our group was totally confused about where to go and who was going where. Each kid had a 30 minute lego class, that took forever to get going and there were waaaayyy too many kids for the activity. The activity was having kids work in groups of 5 or 6 build a top out of legos and spin it and guess how long it would spin for. One kid basically put the entire thing together and they kind of passed it around to spin it, without any guessing their answers in regards to how long it would spin. I wished we had skipped the class, I think the kids were bored and it just wasn't interesting to them. We decided to go on one of the two rides where you shoot the lasers at the different spots and get points for hitting certain things. Two of the laser guns didn't work and you couldn't accumulate any points. The kids had the most fun building and racing cars. They spend the rest of the allotted time building and racing cars, they had fun doing that, but between going in 30 minutes late and the class the kids did being a waste of time, I don't think it was worth it for the cost of the field trip. With the staff making the kids wait an extra 30 minutes before being able to go in and certain things not fully functional the place was kind of a bummer. I think the kids would have liked the lego class better if they each got to make something individually or in pairs and there would have been something for them to take home. I dont think we will be coming back here anytime soon. Will have to wait until we are back in San Diego to go back to the big legoland there. read more

We went on a snow day during the week and it was nearly empty! That's the way to do any amusement place cause we went on all rides and did the activities many, many times!! My youngest loved the Kingdom Quest ride (we went 8 times). Lego 4D Cinema was awesome, not too long and kept the kids attention plus we got WET! (Went 3 times). Lego racers was a huge hit and so was the City Play Zone. The cafe food was good, and fresh with lots for organic offerings. We will be back many times over. read more

This review is based on my experiences with my 3 year old. We have been annual pass holders at Sea Life,but decided to go for the double after my son went to a birthday party here and liked it. I love the Detroit exhibit and the interactive portions add to the cool factor. As for park, I have to agree that things can be a bit confusing. We generally skip the factory tour and go straight to the part, as it is bit boring for the boy. My boy loves the playscape, and he is able to handle all the obstacles with relative ease. But it is challenging enough that I think I will pay for one more year of membership. Also, it is easy enough for adults to get through, if you want to keep an eye on them. Just be careful of the slide as the static build up with give you one heck of a shock at the end. He also loves the movie theater, which play 10-15 minute movies in 4-D. A good place to give a kid their first movie experience. Frankly he has no interest as to the rides yet, but I am hoping to get him on both this summer. Overall a nice place to visit, but I would say kids should be either have a distinct interest in legos or be five before committing to a membership. read more

Legoland as an attraction in general was a great disappointment. The tickets were rather expensive even when we bought 'combo' tickets online that were matched with 'Sea Life Michigan Aquarium'. It is a shame that Legoland is associated with the other attraction in that it's negative reputation may rub off on the other worthwhile attraction. Entry to the place was confused by two lines that had very small signs on them that stated 'Have Tickets' and 'Need Tickets'. Because the signs were so small they were easily missed. Even during the short time we navigated the entry there was a lot of traffic down both lanes that ended up in the wrong line. That seemed to have been overcome by the cashiers sometimes by just processing anyone who walked up anyway. As I entered the exhibit my wife was stopped after being processed and so I was stepping up alone. As I turned to wait for her I was gently verbally accosted by a manager who was standing there overseeing the low-level chaos. She asked me if I had a ticket. I turned to indicate my wife had it and was right there. I received a quick apology and the manager went nervously back to observing the scene where a manager might normally intervene. After entry to the exhibit we were greeted by a photographer who moved us quickly through a series of photo poses and then quickly indicated where we should stand. We waited and then one set of double doors opened while the other remained closed. We had to crowd through the one set of doors. Things were made a little more difficult by a caregiver taking time to reaffix a child's shoes in the midst of a stack of packages they had brought with them. Once through this second line we were brought to a room where a brief overview of how Lego bricks are made was shown to us. They had us play a game without correctly announcing the rules and so we were instantly in a situation where we were locked in a large room with a bunch of strangers and competing against each other in a computer game. We were repeatedly told by the recorded voice of an animated robot to look around to see how big the place was we were in but the view on each of the four screens in the room, rather than providing a 360 degree view showed the same view. The result was confusion and dizziness. One more round of computer gaming ended the light ordeal and we were released through another set of doors - of which only one pair opened - into a small area where we ended up on another line. It turned out that one of the main attractions of Legoland is a cart ride. We waited about 15 to 20 minutes to get our turn. During the wait I read signs that stated that there were strobe lights, scary images, loud noises and unexpected actions and that children might be frightened. There was also a size limit that seemed to be applied rather loosely as some families had arrived with very young children and infants. There was a choice available to walk through this part of the exhibit to get to the rest of it but it wasn't announced. I hadn't seen any signage or warnings about the ride prior to arriving at the point where they expected us to ride the ride (which also did not appear to be noted anywhere). We finally got to the front of the line and had to wait as they adjusted timing as the carts were moving through too fast and bunching up. When we got our opportunity we were provided swift instruction by one of the operators. It was too quick and not very friendly. We started on our way and were provided 'laser guns' to shoot different things. The things we were to shoot were laser targets affixed to 'monsters' (there was one), bats and other creatures. We were also driven up to and parked in front of a series of walls covered with animation where we were directed to shoot skeletons trying to kill other characters. Guns in the mall? Guns with kids? I'll let you decide. All in good fun, right? In any case we were happy to get off the ride. Another picture had been taken of us happily blasting away as a family. Once off the ride we went to a large area where there was a nice display of various locations in Detroit built out of Legos. Interaction was limited to pressing buttons to make various things happen. After this was a slightly larger area with an unattended food counter, a 'classroom', a carnival ride that looked rather dangerous and various play areas. A 4-D theatre was also attached. The children played in the Lego 'mosh pits' and in the small play area. We chose not to ride the 'Octopus' ride. When we decided to leave it was difficult. There were four exits indicated but only one got you out because the other three were for emergencies only. Once in the store it was very difficult to leave as the merchandise aisles were so closely packed it was difficult to move down an aisle if someone was in it already. I won't be returning to this Legoland or, if I have occasion to visit one of the others, I will skip those too. read more

The first impression was not good. Upon checking in the staff member was short and rude. I purchased 6 tickets. My baby was sleeping in the car so we thought we would let him sleep while the others went into legoland. They would not allow 4 people to check in while the other 2 stayed in the car. We had to check in as a group. We all had different bar codes to check in so I don't see why we had to check in as a group. Make sure before you purchase that all group members are present while checking in. read more

Perfect for the 2-7 age group. Anyone older would become easily bored. I have a 5 year old so this worked out well for us. I wish they would offer a true Family Pass option. Instead when you buy a Family Pass one has to pay for each person included in the pass....so it gets expensive fast! As soon as you enter you are presented with a Lego Factory movie presentation. They make it interactive. For example, when they discuss how Lego stamps the heads to produce the face image, it then has the child select which stamp they would like to stamp on a face. That makes it more fun for the child. My son was too eager to enter the exhibit though and kept asking if that part was over. Lol As soon as you enter, the Kingdom Quest ride is on your left. My kid loved it! You basically sit down in a roller coaster style machine and it moves around in the dark and you shoot the "bad guys". He also liked the Lego 4D Cinema movie. They spray a little water at you and blow a breeze to create the 4D effect. The Lego Build-and-Test concept would really benefit from a more structured layout. The idea is that the children will build a model car and then test to see how fast and stable it is and then use those test results to modify their build. Kids were just throwing wheels down the ramps instead of taking the time to build, test, and rebuild their model cars. It felt like the majority of the kids didn't really understand what to do. My child loved the "rides" although one was broken. The Merlin's Apprentice ride was broken and they kept telling us it would be fixed in a few hours but we were there from 10-3 and it was never fixed. When we left the maintenance man working on it said that he still wasn't even sure what was wrong with it.... Inside "Mini Land" are the pre-built Lego buildings and scenery they constructed. These are amazing to look at. We must have spent a good 45 minutes in that room. You can push a button on several of them and they move and do different things. You can watch a miner mine and a rock star singing and move a football player around the field and every hour they turn off the lights to pretend it is nighttime and they show fireworks on the walls. It is so cool! I think overall my child really enjoyed the Children's Play Area the most. I loved that I saw multiple employees removing the large foam Lego blocks and replacing them with freshly washed ones and sanitizing the play structure. Yippee! Hopefully, my kids will stay healthy with all that cleaning going on. The play structure was mainly a play structure with tubes to crawl through and different structures to climb. It is a little disappointing that with all the Lego stuff going on...my child was happiest playing on the play structure that one can find anywhere. Kids! The Lego Friends exhibit and the Lego Duplo Farms exhibit really need some work. They basically just have a bunch of Legos but no imagination behind what to really do with those spaces. My kids were quickly bored there and we moved on. He loved the Creative Workshop opportunity. Today they built mini Octopi which was great because, it was a nice segway for us to leave and head on over to the Sea Life Aquarium exhibit. He was very focused on following the directions and building it from scratch by himself. The instructor's hands can be seen on two TV-style screens on either side of the room so the children can really see which pieces he is talking about and how he attaches them. I was excited that he could build it himself as they were using the smaller Lego pieces that he has been asking me to buy but are above his age group. He was so proud that he built it all by himself. I do want to caution that the kids are expected to give back what they have just finished building so that the next group of children can use those same pieces to build with....I can see the kids expecting to keep their freshly built creations so if your child is prone to melt-downs then be forewarned that you might want to avoid this one all together. The cafe food was overpriced and kind of boring/bland. Not a big surprise here. There are some great restaurants to pick from in the mall, including the Rainforest Cafe and because, you can leave and re-enter Legoland at anytime throughout the entire day...I strongly encourage you to look elsewhere for food. The Ninjago Training Camp was fun. I wish they would make the laser area more extensive. They really could have made this into a more extravagant area and seemed to have dropped the ball on this one. We spent about 15-20 minutes here and went through everything several times. The gift shop on the way out offered a great selection and the prices seemed true to their value. Overall, I think that the entrance fee is worth what you get because you can stay all day and exit and enter again throughout the day. It seemed well staffed. I felt like the staff was actively monitoring the kids and actively assisting the adults. Love it! read more
