They do a potty break for people in the wave pool so it allows workers to take restroom break and forces parents to take kids to the restroom to go pee and poop before returning to the pool: that's a good strategy to ensure the pool remains clean of any accidental poop from tiny kids.

I should've written an update when it was a solid 5…read morestars but this summer (2025), the City of San Marcos partnered with Premier Aquatics and unfortunately, sometimes with change, things go a bit downhill. Before Premier Aquatics, there were plenty of chairs and lounge chairs in the shade, the pool was open during the summer 7 days a week, 12-5, and every Friday night was 'Family Nights' from 6-8. The lifeguards brought out a huge obstacle course and all the kids loved it. Not anymore. The pool is open less hours for recreational swim. M-Th 12-3. F-Su 12-5. There are way less chairs, and no more 'Family Nights'. It's pretty obvious why the rec hours are limited...Premier Aquatics makes more money off swim lessons than they do with recreational swim. They offer more pool passes at different price points, but none of them are through the City of San Marcos. You're buying it straight through Premier Aquatics. My kids still enjoy it, but....meh. 3 stars.

Something big for me when being at a hotel or a resort is feeling comfortable AND welcomed. We went during 4th of July where just for breakfast one morning, they had 600 guests! Although the resort was packed, never once did it feel over crowded. Every place we went, I felt like our presence was appreciated. We also never had to wait to be seated even without reservations. This place really nailed their hospitality. every detail was well thought out! So why would I recommend this for families? For many reasons. Kids are welcomed almost everywhere! They hosted events from morning to sunset during the 4th of July weekend we went. Kids eat FREE all summer for breakfast and lunch (meals before 5) at a few of their restaurants. Then I believe it's half off for dinner! Food was great everywhere we went. Our daughter was too little for most of the events and their bigger kid pools + splash pad, but we did see they have a kids slide! She did love all the places she could run around and their complimentary tote bag! And for the staff- absolutely everyone was so kind, helpful & very welcoming. Most staff members went above and beyond for us. Servers- Jenna was fantastic. Sandra as well! I believe we had an Emma too. We did stay in the Villas by the front entrance. Our rooms were excellent. Clean, spacious and comfortable. Next time, we want to go with friends and family! Lastly- I hear it's near Legoland! We went to the Safari Park and that was a 30 minute, easy drive away. We went back-and-forth with if we wanted to stay there and pay that cost, or if we should stay at another local hotel for our visit. We are glad that we stayed at the hotel. Though the price is high, they provide a lot of great entertainment and things for the children to do right within the hotel. Also, the theming for the hotel is so cool for kids. We loved that there were two separated spaces for adults and kids. We ate at the hotel as well for breakfast and dinner. The food was good enough. It wasn't great, but it wasn't bad at all.

Children with sensory or developmental needs often cannot handle waiting and become highly anxious. Having to wait up to 30 minutes or more just to qualify for the next ride is incredibly difficult. We are from Santa Cruz, where the Beach Boardwalk allows special needs guests to go directly to the front of the line through the exit without a mandatory cooldown time between rides. It makes the experience seamless, stress-free, and keeps the kids happy. There is no reason to enforce such restrictive wait policies for people with special needs. They really need to rethink this system.

The weather was cool, there were no big crowds, and the wait times for rides were only about 5-15 minutes instead of the usual 45+ minute waits you find at other parks. My granddaughter had an absolute blast, and honestly, so did we! The water park is a great addition inside Legoland, and they even have an aquarium, which was a lot of fun to explore. We spent 8 hours there, and it didn't even feel like it. Did I mention it wasn't crowded? That's a huge from me! If you're looking for a fun family day, Legoland is definitely worth a visit.

I mean, when I was a kid...I was happy to use any pool over the summer...but my kids have a choice of fantastic city owned pools. Las Posas pool is smaller than Woodland Park pool- there's no diving board but it's heated and there is a fun splash pad. The shaded area is smaller than woodland park pool...something to keep in mind. The lifeguards are friendly and enforce rules. I prefer Woodland Park pool simply because it's closer to my house and there's more shade, but Las Posas still earns 5 stars!
