Located in a residential area, but close to area of Oceanside where there are alot of homeless people. The park smelled like feces and urine. They don't have lights in the bathrooms after dark. read more

Cute park in general. My daughter really enjoyed the stationary train and fire truck the best. That alone might make it worth coming back for. They have 2 play gyms separated by ages. The younger one is for ages 2-5; and while my 2 year old enjoyed that area, she of course wanted to check out the other play gym. The equipment seemed dirty and worn, perhaps a good cleaning could revive it. Some of the sand that sat on top of the foam flooring made it slippery to walk on. Just be careful when walking. On the larger kids playground the foam flooring dropped off significantly right below the first step, which to me, felt like a bit of a hazard. I appreciated the shady trees that covered part of the kids play area. Bathrooms on the west side next to a soft ball court. A smallish parking lot that I can imagine could get packed easily. Located off the I-5, adjacent to the military base. The exit is a bit tricky though, could be easy to miss if you're not paying close attention. Also, the exit seems a bit of a hazard since you have to significantly slow down compared to cars just exiting the ramp. Overall, good place to take the kids and relax. Have a picnic! read more

Nice little park near Camp Pendleton and the Oceanside airport. Fairly easy to get to, right off of the 5 freeway. Plenty of shade trees, picnic tables, a bathroom, tennis courts, baseball/softball fields, play area for kids. Plenty of dogs off leash and they use the baseball fields for a dog play area. read more

We attended a 5 year old birthday party and it was a very cute park tucked away in a neighborhood in Oceanside close to base. I was surprised that it was actually a great place to have a birthday. I think everyone had fun for the toddler and older kiddos. I didn't check the bathrooms scenario. But, I did see one family taking professional photos near the park side. It's at the end of a road, so not too much traffic, but a great place to drop by again. read more

A really nice park. Clean and quiet area to relax and let the kids run around and play. Worth the visit.

This park is really cool! It's at the bottom of two hills kind of tucked away. Lots of grassy areas to hang out. Baseball field. Two different parks one for the older kids and one for the younger. My son and I hung out at the 2-5 year old playground. The playground has a train with different areas to climb and play. There is a jungle gym that has two different slides. The nice thing is that there isn't many openings on the play ground, so I didn't have to climb up and be on it with him, I could cover the openings and the slides from the ground as he moved through it. Four infant swings, and play fire truck, just to climb around in. I left one star off because it wasn't the cleanest, but it was well maintained, just an older lush park. Plenty of picnic tables scattered throughout. Parking lot directly in front of it. Two tree swings. The park is all sand, which is fine unless your child is still ate the age of eating sand (mine is), which makes it a challenge. Overall, a cool park! read more

My only complaint about this park is that it can get super crowded on the weekends, which is strange, since this happens to be one of the most secluded parks I know of in Oceanside! . There is plenty of space to run around, including basketball courts, soccer fields and a baseball field. There's also a couple of tennis courts that are a great way to have family fun with a toddler or infant, believe it or not! As long as you can lock the gate behind you (they do a god job of upkeep, but there have been random times we have gone during the nine or so years we have lived here where the lock's been busted by some random disrespectful individual). Our younger son used to love to run around one of the courts kicking a soccer ball while my husband and I hit a ball with absolutely zero skillz over the net to one another (it was more akin to feeding a steady stream of tennis balls into the mouth of the sagging net itself, but I definitely don't claim to be Serena Williams, haha!). The park itself is incredibly clean, and is situated in a quiet neighborhood close to North Terrace Elementary School. There is a combination of both soft sand and spongy material that comprises the ground of the playground space, which keeps little bodies from becoming bruised or broken when they may fall. The parents who bring their kids there are sometimes from base, sometimes from neighboring housing ....everyone is super friendly and since it's also dog-friendly, you'll see a few canine friends hanging about much of the time. I like the fact that this is immersed in an older housing area, where you can see how houses in Oceanside used to be many years ago...much ire character than the sprawling developments you see nowadays that isn't , but they're all very nice and we've never seen or heard of an incident in all the years we've been frequenting the park. There is a drinking fountain and public restrooms , but I feel they're so far away that a small child would likely not make it in time to avoid an accident. It's not convenient to have them so far from the main play areas...and even then, they're closer to the playground for the older children than the younger (there are age-graded playgrounds at this particular location, which provides something for everyone for kids of all ages with something to occupy the time - and those of us kids who refuse to grow up." The kids don't really pay much attention to the signs delineating age if use - they do what kids do and tend to play where they please! There's a large, self contained parking lot, which helps with peace of mind when walking your little one to and from the playful ground. If you're there in a "lucky day," there will be an ice cram van parked out in front of the park, it's music echoing along the walls of the hill behind the park. Nothing makes a day at the park better than a giant flying UFO or cookie sandwich! Picnic tables line the parameter, and the large (obviously quite old...possibly some of the oldest this side of town) trees are perfect for anyone who lacks a table but still wants to spread a blanket out and have a picnic. They can also be excellent for climbing upon...but you didn't hear that from me! We call it the "Train Park," because there is a libgnrow if train cars half buried in the sand, Child-sized, along with a big fire truck that has been stripped bare of bells, steering wheel, and other components over the years by countless children who frequent this park. There's plenty of benches for parents to sit and watch their kiddos play...but that's no fun - I am usually out running barefoot in the sand with my kids. Challenging random kids to see who can swing the highest, helloing my son across the hand-held zip line...and otherwise enjoying myself its as much as the kids in an immersive and engaging experience with my son...they're only young once...why on earth would you waste it watching it happen from a distance when you could be right there? Zip lines are so much cooler when you're able to hold on the entire way across too...just saying... This is one of the best parks in Oceanside, hands down...it's just a slight trip down a residential hill (watch your speed though...gah...my pet peeve had got to be the speeders, thank goodness there's a gate and a parking lot separating the road from those clowns...but it would be nice to at least sometimes see Oceanside PD down there doing something about every young wannabe who thinks they're starring in The Fast and the Furious: Suburbia. I won't lie, I actually smile until it hurts every time I see one of those irresponsible people bottom out on the giant speed bumps. Those are some seriously significant speed bumps!!! read more

My favorite Park in the world. I grew up here at this park. Still live here in the neighborhood. My son played there now with his friends. Great place for family party's. softball basketball tennis play ground swings slides. I've been to so many party's there I lost count. We have also had lowrider car picnics , fundraisers. Love this park! Grew up playing at Capistrano Park, had my wedding there, bought a home in the neighborhood, now bring my babies! Quiet most days, big playground, baseball fields where most people let their dogs run (which keeps my babies safe)!!! Only down side... tennis courts in back need to be resurfaced BADLY... I play regularly & would love to play down the street from my home!!! read more

This park is just beautiful. It's a nice, secluded park with few visitors, so it definitely makes great for playdates, meetups and parties. The park itself is very simple, but all age groups can enjoy. Love the space and quietness of it. read more
