The first floor is the adult section. The second floor has a children's section and a young adult section that didn't appear to be connected. It's very basic and nearly hard to navigate. When we walked in downstairs, I couldn't understand why it was so small and only older books. I looked for some type of map before asking where the children's room was and was informed it was as upstairs. I was disappointed that there was only one library catalog computer per section and a line at the children's one. In the children's it's separated by picture books, board books, children's books and youth non fiction. But at the end of each aisle there is no indication what alphabet or numeral numbers the books go by. I've never seen a library like this that is so confusing. It took us quite some time to locate all the different books my daughter wanted. Although the children's section is cute and filled with fun cubbies in the wall to relax and read a book, it felt loud, chaotic and small. Many books were checked out, or ebooks only. And was the same for a few I searched for. It doesn't appear the offer more than 1 of most of the books. As we were leaving I noticed another section of books across from the children's room that were for Young Adults. Maybe once I get to understand the system more and the layout it'll make more sense. But for the first time visitor I was confused and unimpressed.

The receptionist told me fines go toward buying new books, which I can support more than paying Blockbuster fines to a corporation back in the day. Book selection is fine for me, I still haven't finished the ones on my list. My 7 year old daughter loves to go and get books to read. I had to buy one replacement that was lost. They were understanding but they do enforce the deadlines. I have used their computers to print things out and that was helpful, you just need to have a library card and your account can't owe too much money in fines. I have been able to use USB drives with no problem. I do wish they had extended hours of operation. My current occupation requires long long hours, and it is rare that I can make it in to check anything out. It is awesome they have an outdoor book drop so you can return books on your schedule. It would be cool if they had a separate floor for grown-ups so that the noise from the children doesn't distract your concentration. When I build my own library.... I stopped by to grab a copy of The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks for my book club meeting, and they had two copies available. Also, I had no idea that if you have a library card for American Fork, Pleasant Grove, or Highland, you can use it at any of the three libraries. So that was great to know! I tried using self check out, but since it's been a couple of years since I've used my card physically at the library, it was blocked. I had to head to the counter, and they just needed to confirm my info was still correct. Super simple fix. The employee who helped me was so friendly exactly the kind of person you hope to interact with at a library.

I love that we can download e-books and periodicals online too. I was very impressed with the South Jordan Branch Library. it is part of a much larger county organization and we can enjoy books and other entertainment from all community branches. Not only does it have extensive resources and events, but it is beautifully decorated as you can see by the pictures below. Staff are knowledgeable and courteous, and we enjoyed browsing through music, book, and even DVDs. An extensive calendar of events is also available for the community to take advantage of. If you haven't gotten your library cards, go to any local branch and they will have you ready in under five minutes. Just bring a form of ID and proof of residency, like a utility bill. They said even my four-year-old granddaughter can get a card with an adult. Stop by soon and let me know what you think!

I was unloading my baby from the car and my 7 year old had to use the…read morebathroom, so I told him he could go ahead in and use the bathroom and I'd catch up after I got the stroller unloaded. He came right back out and informed me that the librarian at the desk stopped him on his way in the door and told him he couldn't use the bathroom unless his parents were checking out books. This was a kid, not a homeless man! And I was on my way in just a couple minutes. I've also checked out a chapter book from a different branch that already had very minor water damage to the pages- not a big deal at all. But when I returned it to the Draper location I was sent an email informing me that because I'd returned it in damaged condition I had been charged the full price of the book. It wasn't even my water damage!

This is a great library. My kids love going to the library. It isn't very large, so if you are hoping to sneak away into a private corner to do work, then you will find there aren't a lot of hiding places. The younger children's book area is separate, which helps contain much of the noisier patrons in one place, since littles aren't very good at whispering. If you really need more quiet, you can either reserve the private room available, or just wear noise-canceling headphones. If I am studying, I will often pull up some classical music to study by on YouTube and listen with my headphones while doing my studying. This way I am not distracted by anyone else who may be near by. As with all libraries, it maintains a level of quiet, but it won't be dead quiet like in a university library. After all, this is a community library that caters to families...which includes children. I love seeing kids at the library! It's a good place for our next generation of leaders to hang out.

I love the display of the new adult books as well. It's easy to locate books with the author last name and I love that they put a sticker with what type of book it is as well. They have a pretty good collection of new movies and If you sign up for emails, they will email you when they have new movies to rent. Every time we come into this little gem, the staff is always so friendly and helpful. They are operating limited hours right now due to COVID19, but they make sure their limited hours are posted on their website's front page. When you do return movies and books, the only way their taking it back is the drop box behind the library. They are not taking any returns inside. In addition, they are not taking any cash for payment for any late fees at this time due to the pandemic. What I also love about this library is sometimes they have donated bread at the entrance, free to anyone who might need it. At this time I don't think anyone is allowed to sit and stay (and play) inside, so they labeled their hours as "Grab & Go" while they are open. I have looked into their digital selection, and it would be nice if they can expand it. I've put in a few requests for movies that they do not have, but have not received any response as to them making any effort of carrying it. Room for growth!

The staff are so friendly and helpful to the community and I am so grateful that students have more opportunities to perform and share their talents at the public library. In particular, Andrea Wilkinson, who is the director for the children's programs, was so welcoming and friendly to us at our Christmas recital this week! We can see that she makes a difference in the educational programs for children here!

One can check out telescopes, use 3D printers, get personal meeting rooms and more. The library programa are constant and extremely well put together, catering to kids (reading clubs, parties) to teens (D&D, cosplay) to adults (book clubs, art exhibits). On top of all this, it's beautifully decorated! Only occasional problems are those stemming from people bringing their cell phone conversations into the library and talking out loud.

I…read morehaven't figured out their "speciality" yet, but it's easy enough to reserve materials and have them brought to this branch. Holds from other branches vary in the time they take to show up, but if it's available at the time you reserve it, it doesn't take but 48-72 hours to show up at Herriman's branch. Most of the libraries are phenomenal - super helpful, personable, and knowledgable. There are one or two I've encountered who are super quick to add fees to your library account (like when I pointed out a children's book had damage that we didn't do, she tried to charge me for the book) but they're the rare exception. We loved all the precautionary measures this branch did during COVID to make patrons feel safer. It was like Christmas when they opened up curbside pickup during COVID and like coming home when they opened their doors again. We love our public library!
