The desk clerk came over and took them away. She came back with one pitcher and announced it was not the milk, it was the LIDS and she cleaned them! Gross, gross, gross, how could they not be getting run in a dishwasher daily?! Then we didn't even want to eat. However after getting my husband and went back down a party in the hall room was taking place and the front desk girl was carrying dishes down the way to the restaurant next door, as we had to stand at the desk and wait for service. The hotel room STUNK horribly, mold on the ceiling, lobby was dirty, mats were dirty! Just nasty place, we called our third party booker and got our refund and slept on our family Members floor which was 5 stars compared to this place.

We had a brief misunderstanding about the length of our stay (just one night, but next time much longer), immediately resolved by Joe. A day or so before our visit, we got a detailed text describing the check-in process. The day of our visit, we got another text when the room was ready (about an hour before regular check-in). We were on a NWR drive-through at the time, and made it to Tarpon Tale within a half hour or so. When we got there, Joe met us, helped with our luggage, and then gave us a tour of the facility, directions to the beach, pulled out a beach chair for us, and introduced us to the happy little Tokay Gecko on the fence. He pointed out the ice cream parlor and restaurant across the street, and the coffee and bagel place next door. We got a room with a very nice queen bed, a small but well-provisioned kitchen, and a modern bathroom. We elected to have dinner at Gramma Dot's (at the marina nearby) and ice cream across the street. We slept very well in the quiet of a Sanibel evening, and checked out the next morning for another loop through the National Wildlife Refuge and to continue on our way to Orlando.

The resort offers a complimentary welcome drink, but I wouldn't really call it complimentary since there's a mandatory $35 daily resort fee that covers various amenities, many of which you may not even use. I also don't drink alcohol, so it wasn't much of a perk for me. I did take advantage of the 24-hour fitness center and was pleasantly surprised. There was a good variety of equipment, the treadmills worked well, and they provided complimentary towels, water, and even apples. My only criticism is that the gym could use a more thorough cleaning. One thing to know before booking is that this resort doesn't have a beach. That wasn't a dealbreaker for me because the pool was very nice. My mother and I drove to Sanibel Beach, which was only about 10-15 minutes away. However, parking was difficult to find, it costs $5 per hour, and the mosquitoes were relentless. Unless you're set on visiting the island, I'd recommend relaxing at the resort instead. The elevators worked well, and every staff member I interacted with was friendly and professional.
