We have been having a very bad experience with LVHN - no return phone calls - even after two weeks. Today, we called the general number and hit the number to make a new patient appointment. A PERSON ACTUALLY ANSWERED THE PHONE. She worked with us to get to the oncology area - she sent several messages to managers of the department and finally, someone said they would get back to us with a phone call. Of course that did not happen - so we called again and again. It turns out that the scheduling department had dropped our scheduled surgery off the list - but of course it was due to a change that she forgot to put in. We are back on schedule but of course, maybe it will happen and maybe it will not. WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS ORGANIZATION TO ANYONE THAT HAS A SERIOUS ILLNESS. read more

I've had my mother on a waiting list for neurology for MONTHS. We are on a wait list for a sooner appointment but instead of offering appointments that open up to those that have been waiting the longest, Lehigh uses an automated text system that shoots a text to every person on the wait list at the same time so whomever clicks on the text first wins. It's a game. My mother has severely declined. Her GP has even reached out to Neuro begging they give her a next available but instead they open it up like your getting concert tickets on the radio. read more

This is an absolutely inexcusable issue that has been going on for 6 months. My husband was found to have an enlarged thyroid at a routine exam this Fall (October 2025). He received an ultrasound which showed a large nodule which should be biopsied. He was scheduled for the biopsy in November, but when he arrived he was informed there was a "mistake" in scheduling and staff had scheduled another ultrasound rather than the biopsy. He was then rescheduled for the end of December, and received the biopsy, only to be stressed and upset during the procedure by Muhlenberg staff openly and loudly complaining about having to do the Time Out Procedure, which is a routine standard of care. He was later notified that there was insufficient specimen collected and the lab was not able to obtain a result for the biopsy. Nevertheless, he was still required to pay over $1200 (with insurance!) for no result. The repeat biopsy was rescheduled for today, May 13, 2026. We arrived at 17th street on time for the procedure as instructed, at 0730, even though directions to find the right area were absent or lacking. We sat in the waiting area until a staff member notified us at about 0820 that the provider was not here yet. At about 0845, the Nurse Manager of the ASU OR at 17th street notified us that the Doctor was not present and there was yet another mistake in scheduling. The ASU had been told the Doctor would be present today but he was actually at Cedar Crest rounding or seeing patients in the office there apparently, meaning ALL the patients scheduled for procedures with him today at the 17th Street ASU were now going to have to be rescheduled. This is the third major issue my husband has had to deal with while trying to get a simple biopsy completed by LVHN. He is extremely reluctant to get ANY type of medical care to begin with, and now has to be convinced to get this important biopsy done because he feels like giving up. The numerous mistakes by LVHN have caused a 6 month delay in getting this biopsy and the patient is now reluctant to return for care at all. He has had to take off of work numerous times now to attempt to get it done, in addition to the time and stress involved. The "care" (not) provided by LVHN has been a complete joke. I had three major medical conditions simultaneously - NTOS, Eagle Syndrome, and Lymphatic Obstruction - all requiring surgery. LVHN had no idea how to treat these conditions and instead of trying to help me figure out what was wrong they told me to go away. I had a baby in the NICU and its been terrible. Lack of communication. I can in to see paper in my child's ear. Another time surgical needles in his crib and a messy mess. My husband and I have had to advocate hard for our child. The needs of our child have been overlooked overall. They have basically been starving our chikd, not giving our child the nutrition needed to adequately gain. It feels like a money game. Doctors slow walk things, and then tell you ' your child is our priority' " we are making your child out priority". Shouldn't that be the case from day one and not after parents have had to advocate? Nurses tell you that your baby won't miss you Specialist not working with your child and when one complains they only do the bare minimum. Doctors and nurses not really listening to parents...lack of communication is a huge thing. The infusion of Jefferson University to the hospital is terrible. I had another child here before and had a better experience. Use precaution when choicing this hospital, especially if you know you might end up with a premature child. I gave this hospital a zero rating. It would not let me choose zero, but that is my rating. read more

LVHN facilities are impossible to reach by phone. Their bureaucracy is impenetrable. Their attitude is that patients should be kept at arms length at all times. I needed to contact orthopedics at the Hecktown location because I had left something in an exam room. I tried two different numbers and was told by two different call centers that there was no direct phone and they had no way to reach the facility. Imagine if I had a really serious problem. The system is dehumanizing and uncaring. The administration shows absolutely no respect for the patient. read more

I cancelled a test four months in advance on my LVHN Portal. The test was listed as cancelled on my portal. Three days later I received a phone call from Amber with LVHN Scheduling to schedule my test. I informed her that I cancelled the test, she told me I did not, that I never had an appointment. I gave her the date and time of the cancelled appointment. She insisted that I did not have an appointment, even though I had confirmation of the appointment, and demanded my full name, DOB, address, and insurance information so she can note that I am going elsewhere. She was very rude, demanding, and totally lacked courtesy for the customer. I cannot believe this health network has grown so big and is so downright nasty on the front end. I went to pick up my prescription. I am forced to use this pharmacy due to insurance. After waiting several minutes in a long line, I was told my prescription had to be checked by the pharmacist and to have a seat. I was told my name would appear on a screen in 5-10 minutes. Forty minutes later, my name still didn't appear so I went back in line. After a few more minutes of waiting, I told the clerk that I was waiting for over 40 minutes and my name failed to appear. Turns out my prescription was in fact ready. Someone clearly hadn't put my name on the screen. This is not the first time I've experienced poor service there. read more

I have been waiting for a date and time to have a spinal cord stimulator placed in my back due to extreme back pain. I have passed all the trials and was told I would be scheduled for the procedure ASAP. I have: Sent 3 portal messages for information; I have called the "scheduler" 5 times who is conveniently NEVER at her desk and who NEVER calls you back; the doctor never returns a call and doesn't respond to my portal messages! Absolutely the worst healthcare experience imaginable. My brother fought a two month battle with pancreatic cancer. During that time, he was in and out of Lehigh Valley Hospital. Our experience included three days of the family waiting room toilet overflowing with feces, doctors refusing to give any pain medication to my brother as he was dying, nurses who kept thinking he was in for an infection. Once he was able to get the pain meds he needed, visiting doctors would ask him if he was getting anything for pain while the nurse was injecting morphine into the IV! You really can't make this stuff up. It is a total embarrassment to have this much incompetence in the United States. My brother was finally moved out of the circus to hospice where he passed the next day. If you are in need of healthcare, I would recommend an open air clinic in Ethiopia before this hospital. read more

I can't say enough bad things about LVHN. The doctors waste your time and money. They give you tests you don't need and worthless blood work. My health has been declining for three years. Now I can barely walk. I consulted Dr. Google for free and I have all the symptoms of peripheral artery disease. They wanted me to do an Echo 2d diagnosis test and holter monitor which would have cost me $700 out of pocket but not diagnosed the PAD. Dr. Mikhail Rakhamanine performed my colorectal resection 11/12/2021 at LVHN Cedar Crest. I had immediate problems. He was dimissive and evasive to the point, he didn't even see me in person after in Hospital Dilation procedure he performed for a Stricture I suffered from that surgery. I still have extreme problems from scar tissue at Stricture. He absolutely ignored my concerns and problems. Numerous problems from his surgery still unresolved. I filed formal Medicare Complaint. Medicare response was his "aftercare follow up" did not meet "Accepted Medical Standards". I have the document. Despite this overwhelming evidence in a formal written complaint LVHN did nothing. Here I am almost 2 years since successful knee replacement at Westfield hospital. That being said, I was permanently injured by ER staff with improperly inserted catheter. Upon removing my catheter at 12 hrs after operation noticed it bunched up and my penis bent 180 degrees back on itself. It pulled out painfully. 10days later while attempting relations w my fiance noticed a DOUBLE bend to the left and downward! Needless to say relations are almost impossible. I have seen amultitude of specialists and pretty much to no avail. Lawyers won't touch it because you need a witness.! That's hilarious! Who would ever come forward for this "hit and run"? In summary, my mental health is extremely depleted and I have turned to withdrawal from friends events and living on xanax and daily alchohol intake is destroying my entire body. My penis has since shrunk to looking like an uncircumcised infant and uncomfortable to wear any tipe clothing needing to constantly adjust myself! Do you if you need assistance with a wheel chair, the personal at the Wind gap office say they are not allowed to push a wheel chair or assistant anyone. They are told that from corporate office. What is this country coming too. And if your visiting a Dr at the wing gap office they can no long just send you up to the 2nd floor to get a xray. Oh no that would make too much sense. So you have to leave the office with a xray and travel to another office or hospital to get the xray that could Have be done already. All because they can't figure out how to bill the service in the same location. But if you see a Dr on the 2nd floor well then it ok you can get the xray there. Really bad experience with LVPG Ob/Gyn and now I am concerned about how many women they might perform unnecessary hysterectomies on. Red Flag #1: LVPG gynecologist referred me for a pre-op consult for a hysterectomy WITHOUT consulting me on it first! I had an ultrasound which diagnosed uterine fibroids and she sent me a message through the app. saying she was referring me for consult with a surgeon in the practice to discuss options which in her words "potentially may include surgical options." My understanding is there are MANY alternatives to hysterectomy for cases like mine. The surgeon I was referred to walked into the consultation room and said to me "so you are here for a hysterectomy" and was surprised when I reacted with shock and said "ABSOLUTELY NOT." I am only 41 and the gynecologist knows or should know from prior conversations with her that I haven't ruled out pregnancy for myself yet. Red Flag #2: the surgeon made a mistake when writing an order for me to have an MRI in follow up to our consult. She wrote for Abdominal instead of Pelvic and the office staff at the MRI team caught her error. Definitely doesn't inspire confidence that a surgeon in a gynecology practice would write an MRI order for the wrong part of your body to be scanned for uterine fibroids... Red Flag #3: the gynecologist didn't follow up with me at all about my ultra sound results other than the aforementioned very terse message though the app that I had fibroids and she was referring me to discuss options. I had to nag the practice to schedule a call with her to talk to me about it and explain what it all meant. when we had our phone call she kept saying things about decisions as to what type of procedure I have would depend on what I thought about "whether I need my uterus." She referred to it like a piece of meat or spare part. She left out the part where she already wrote in the notes for the surgeon that she as referring me to that she was referring me for hysterectomy almost as if she decided that for me rather than taking to me about other options like myoectomy. I'm so glad I research things for myself but I worry about patients who may not do the same. Red Flag #3: the gynecologist and the surgeon gave me conflicting information about one of the options used to treat uterine fibroids (embolization). The gynecologist told me the procedure would take pregnancy off the table for me, the surgeon said that wasn't necessarily the case when I told her the gynecologist said that. Which one am I supposed to believe? When I have time I hope to bring what I experienced to LVHN leadership to give them the opportunity to address it and perhaps take appropriate corrective actions but my confidence in them is shaken and I'm worried about what they may be doing to other patients. I may want to find out about bringing this to the attention of regulators so they can be audited or something. read more

I had St Luke's for years and very happy. Unfortunately my insurance changed to Lehigh valley six months ago. Absolutely awful! I had an ultrasound and took me 5 phone calls to get results when I was told to call. This went on for 2+ weeks. I'm still waiting for a result on a biopsy and that is taking longer than what I was told. Also I'm having a hassle getting scrips. I called 3 times, went on my LVHN to try to get them filled. This also went on for weeks and still don't have. I'm going to call my insurance which I'm told is great and change. I'm willing to go into Jersey. Leigh Valley Health Network is awful. My N.Y. My wife with over 28 years of surgical services experience was just terminated for using the term Big Momma. HR determined it was hate speech and racially offensive. Urban Dictionary and Webster's Dictionary describes this as a term of endearment referring to a grandmother that takes care of multiple generations of kids. Even after explaining this fact of truth and establishing her decades of work ethic and multiple surgical certifications they still refused to believe her statements. Monday morning (12/26/22) I was sent to the emergency room from Patient First. They had me checked in and on my way to x-ray almost immediately. They found a massive build up of fluid surrounding my heart. The draining process then began. They saved my life and I am eternally grateful. Every single aspect of my care was top notch. To the staff in ICU: You guys are the best!!! I am sorry I can't name everyone individually. You were kind and attentive and all deserve raises. You listened to my chatter with a smile and made me feel like everything was going to be fine. That really mattered to me. You should all be very proud of yourselves because I surly am. Thank You so very much. Cardiology: What can I say? You saved my life. I am grateful beyond words. Thank you so very much. You were absolute professionals yet treated me so kindly. You found some nastiness in the fluid you removed from around my heart and that leads me to the next part of my review. Oncology: I want to thank you for giving me hope that my future treatment will be successful. I look forward to getting better with your care. Lastly, I've read some nasty reviews, mostly about wait times. This is what everyone needs to know...hospitals run they way they do because ANY tiny mistake and they'll be sued into oblivion.
