This place has gone seriously downhill in recent years. I've been going here for about 20 years when the need arose, and I will no longer be returning. In 2016, I was bullied by a nurse into getting an unnecessary vaccination (I knew my tetanus shot was up to date, but there was no record of it), and Dr. Singer's go-to antibiotic was a fluoroquinolone - it has a BLACK BOX warning and shouldn't be prescribed unless absolutely necessary! During my most recent visit, the nurse practitioner on duty (since there was no doctor there that day) treated me horribly. First, she was skeptical of medications that my PCP had prescribed, and then she didn't even do a complete examination of my shoulder - the reason that I was there. A medical professional should be aware of basic anatomy - the shoulder is NOT just ONE joint, it is FOUR! At this point, I knew she was just being dismissive because she thought I was a drug seeker (based on my medication list), and knew I was just better off getting out instead of wasting my time asking her to do a proper examination. I considered walking out without paying, since they should be paying ME for my time that they wasted. Dr. Barnhurst is the ONLY redeeming doctor at this practice!! He is a great doctor, but unfortunately he has limited hours. read more

This isn't the best 24 hour emergency clinic around, or even on this street. Dimly lit, older setting and there always seems to be a wait. Fox News is always on in the waiting room (this could be a pro or con, of course). The staff is sometimes friendly, sometimes not. Same goes for the doctors. Sometimes they're good, sometimes they're bad, one time they were actually really good (but that guy was the retired, substitute doc). I have gone here several times over the years because it was convenient to stop by if I wasn't feeling well after work at night. The wait times can sometimes be long and the staff is questionable. The last time I had to wait in the waiting room for about 45mins and then got in about an hour nap before the doctor even came into the exam room. He was also no help and the antibiotic he gave me did nothing, just as I told him that particular antibiotic would not help. This visit was no less then 2 1/2hrs! My girlfriend had been feeling ill one night and since it was about 8pm our options were limited.. She didn't want to wait until morning. So we went there. What a mistake! The wait took forever.. then once we were called in the nurse didn't seem to have a clue as to what she was doing! My girlfriend is a nurse and it would've been laughable if she wasn't so sick. We just looked at each other like WTF? We were led to what seemed like a storage room or closet! There was all sorts of junk and even a prescription inhaler sitting on a box! Again we wait forever to see the doctor.. And again not much help. We were there a few hours for this visit too! I have fantastic insurance with a low co-pay for this type of visit. It never fails every time I would go here a few weeks later i'd get a bill of usually about $100. When inquiring about the charges they always say the same thing.. It was not covered by your insurance. Right. The insurance company always says they paid them for the visit. Not sure what this is about. But they'll send you bills, then collections notices. If you don't want your credit affected I guess there is no choice but to pay? AVOID THE CEDAR CREST EMERGICENTER! This place is a joke.. Yes I said it, a joke! The new Patient First at Cedar Crest and Tilghman is the place to go. Its bright, clean and a very efficient operation! Gone here in the past for DOT physicals with no problems. Went for a recertification recently and was told they needed additional forms from my family doctor. She faxed them down and after several days and several calls I heard nothing. Went in twice only to find out they would not issue a new card. I believe this was their intentions all along and I could have pursued other options instead of wasting time and effort. I do not recommend going here and instead using Lehigh Valley Hospital about 2 miles down the road. Very disappointed! read more

Very unprofessional staff that complains about there place of employment. Dr that stands in the hall way complaining about supplies in the rooms but doesn't bother to come in to see patients. Waited for 1:45 min didn't see a Dr. So I left. There had only been 2 other people in the waiting room when I got there. Staff brings you back to a room quickly but you could sit there forever. Had to return for a routine follow up of a sprained ankle. They wouldn't make an appointment, so I had to sit for 2+ hours before I was seen ( 4 people in waiting room upon my arrival ). Had literally 3 minutes of face time with the Dr., and then had to wait another 30+ minutes for my release papers. You think with 12 doctors working there, it would be just a tad more efficient. read more

We were in a pinch last week and found them helpful. Pros - walk-in, seem professional and helpful and seemed to get the problem, I liked the doctor there. Cons - waited a bit longer than I would have liked once we got into the room where we were to be seen. Overall WAY better than a horrible ER experience earlier in the week and no ridiculous ER copay, ERs seem fairly outdated unless unavoidable, they overcharge for the basics and keep people waiting way longer than they should, with too many zombie-type doctors and nurses coming in and out and asking the same questions each time, vs. a more efficient center like this one. read more

Horrible customer service. Went in for a twisted ankle, and was told they will put me in an air cast, paid my deductible and left. Was billed an additional $38.00 dollars which I paid, then billed again for an additional $75.00 for the cast. I called billing and was rudely told they do not know how much the insurance will pay and that I did not have to secure the air cast there. This could have been purchased for $20.00 at any local drug chain and the insurance paid and additional $40.00 towards the cast. TO be triple billed and spoken to by someone who has no customer service experience is horrible. This place deserves no Stars. Absolutely no consideration for other people's time. Be prepared to wait 3-4 hours or longer for a simple prescription. There must not be to much competition since patient satisfaction seems to be a low priority. You need to take off a day of work to see someone. Advise to this place: Hire more staff to accommodate high demand for healthcare needs. Seems like they are overworking a few people to maximize there profits. Worst experience! When I finally got called in, I was told a dr will be with me momentarily. Was put in a room and was told to wait. Being that I had to get back to work after being there already for over 2 1/2hrs, I poked my head out of this room and asked when exactly I'd be seen. I was then told that there was three people ahead of me before I would be seen by a Dr. I just decided this place wasn't worth my time and I left. As I was leaving, I was told that a Hospital visit would have been 4 hrs of waiting also. I'll be going to Patient First instead. They have better reviews about being more efficient and patient focused unlike Cedar Crest Emergicenter. This was by far the meanest gathering of health care workers I have ever had the unfortunate experience of meeting. Each individual was so extremely rude to me and I felt very pressured to receive care that I didn't understand and or didn't want. For example I came in with a female problem on my breast and a man was brought in, examined it without smiling, initiating any glimmer of comfort, or answering my questions. He muttered to himself what was wrong in his opinion, I asked what it meant and he gave a very unclear answer. He sat and wrote in silence as I sat there crying. Oh what's more is he recommended I go to a surgeon in the morning- I went straight to Lehigh valley hospital instead directly after the awful treatment at emergicenter and boy was there such a difference in the kindness and caring I received. It turned out I didn't need to see a surgeon and what he had done was just scare me out of my wits for no reason. Also the woman who directed me out of the office ended up chasing me down and giving me attitude about how there was more to be done. While I was waiting I was also greeted with negative expressions and judgement from the moment I spoke up about my female problem. It was the worst experience I've ever had in a medical setting and I do not wish this awful treatment on anyone. Do not ever go here. read more

The wait times during weekdays are borderline ridiculous. My employer mandates that we go here for random drug/alcohol testing and I don't think I've ever been out of here in less than 2 hours for a simple urine test. Once it took 4 hours. Also, at check-in there is zero privacy so you basically have to announce your ailment in front of the entire waiting room. Unprofessional and does not follow proper protocol for testing. I often go to cedarcrest because it is the only facility that is open until 11. With that being said, I live 2 hrs away, so at times I am getting there by 10:30pm. There is 1 nurse, named Sherry, who is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. She berates me loudly in front of other patients and personnel. She makes me feel terrible. I explained the situation of me having 7 children, and driving 2 hrs there to test, and apologize profusely. She responds with "I don't care", and refuses to finish testing after it is initiated and I am too upset to complete in 5-10 minutes. She reports she "does not care" and stops testing. read more

Sat waiting in the waiting room hacking up a lung for an hour. I understand it is a walk in and an appt center and the wait is long but it took an hour just to get back. When they called me back they did a very fast assessment of my weight, blood pressure and temp. They didn't even take my height(which they had the measurements to do so) and asked me how tall I was. That is really nothing to complain about but I was already ticked about the wait time. As I sat in the room by myself coughing up a lung, the doctor came in and asked me what was wrong. Checked my lungs and then looked in my throat for two seconds. Didn't even tell me what I had (my mom and sister were just diagnosed with bronchitis) and prescribed me three medications. Then I was told to wait in the waiting room. I waited there for another 20 minutes and then I was called to check out. I then signed a form and asked if they can have my prescriptions sent to my pharmacy so I would not have to wait so I can go home and rest. They said "no we only do that for Medicare patients". I have never ever been told no. Even at the cvs minute clinic they send them over. I will not be coming back. I got there at two and I am finally home at 4. Horrible customer service. read more

Hazard to your health- Their incompetence almost caused a life threatening condition, with textbook symptoms, to go undiagnosed. The Dr. I had was overall uninterested and unknowledgeable- He actually googled my symptoms right in front of me. I could have done that for free at home. It was clear from the minute he came in that he wanted to wrap up the visit as quick as possible- after I had been waiting hours. He was in such a rush to leave the room, he tried to leave the door fully open during my appointment. Unfortunately the nurse was just as unfriendly. Took my health history and without saying anything started walking out the door. I asked as she was leaving if the Dr would be in soon.. she literally rolled her eyes and said "Well, Yeah!" I wish there was an option to rate this place as a ZERO! I was seen there early morning last week for a large piece of wood wedged far under my fingernail. I was treated by a nurse practioner who numbed my finger incorrectly in order to remove a portion of my nail to get the wood out. She never made sure she got all the wood out, never gave me a tetanus shot and gave me an antibiotic i could have been allergic too after telling her i could not take what she ordered. All staff rude and short, i felt like i was being treated in a third world country!! I place is dirty and staff very cold! I ended up at my family doc later the same day and required a tetanus shot, and correct antibiotic. Because she never checked that she got all the wood out, i had to go to another walk in yesterday and they got the remaining piece of wood from my raw nailbed. Please skip this place and go to West End Urgent Care!!!! They were fantastic!!! read more
