I had three major medical conditions simultaneously - NTOS, Eagle Syndrome, and Lymphatic Obstruction - all requiring surgery. LVHN had no idea how to treat these conditions and instead of trying to help me figure out what was wrong they told me to go away or gave inappropriate psych refereals for what they called somatic complaints. Once they were proven wrong by other major medical networks they took zero accountability. They refuse to talk about how they will prevent this from happening to other patients. read more

I am writing this specifically about Lehigh Valley Hospital's Service Excellence department, which is supposed to serve as a patient advocate and point of contact when patients are experiencing problems or need assistance. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For over two and a half years, I have repeatedly called and left messages for Service Excellence. Not once has anyone returned my calls. Not once has anyone followed up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This is not a one-time oversight--this is a complete and sustained failure of a department whose entire purpose is to help patients. During this time, I have been seriously ill. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have repeatedly asked for someone--anyone--to sit down and review my medical images with me, answer questions, or even listen to my concerns after other diagnoses were ruled out. That never happened. No review. No discussion. No explanation. No support.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When a patient has exhausted standard evaluations and is still sick, the appropriate response is not silence. Yet that is exactly what I received. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Being ignored by Service Excellence meant there was no pathway left for help, no advocate, and no accountability.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As a result, I have now been sick for nearly three years without meaningful assistance or engagement from the very system that advertises patient-centered care. A hospital system should never leave a patient feeling abandoned, unheard, and dismissed--especially after actively reaching out for help over such a long period of time. Service Excellence cannot exist in name only. If this department is not answering calls or returning messages, patients are left without protection or recourse. They delete bad reviews. If your family member ends up on the PCU please stay with them. My family member was ignored and slipped into acute renal failure. I had to give them their baths, get them towels, a basin, drinks, and personal care items. my brother and I got our family member out of bed so they could maintain their mobility. The day they were discharged they were covered in stool and the surgical site was draining. We had to take them to another hospital the next day for readmission And a revision. We would not bring our family member back to this hospital, especially the PCU read more

We had a procedure there yesterday. I was hesitant with finding the building and the office but with the help with all of the girls and the guys we got there quickly. You had to be there to experience that but we did get there expeditiously. With all of the experiences that we've had in all of 40 years this has been one of the best experiences we've had on a preventative office visit. I can't wait till I'm 65 and it's time for me. Most of the girls that are have been there at least 15 years and all are in a very good mood, it makes me think we've chosen the wrong profession. read more

I went on Monday and it was absolutely ridiculous. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The registration woman with black hair was rude I told her my last name and didn't even get to start spelling it and she had already gave me attitude and said she obviously doesn't know how to spell that.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then I go right next door to the nurse to tell her what's wrong and the same registration woman starts leaning over to listen?? I don't care if you're right next to the nurse .. mind your business.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Nevertheless I told the nurse what was wrong and they had me waiting for over an hour to even be looked at even after I told them my eye was in pain level of like 8-9. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then I FINALLY get to the back and I keep having to repeat myself. No one seemed like they care I was definitely over looked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]i waited for 40 mins in the back THEN Dr. Brian Lovett did an ultrasound on my eye to make sure it wasn't an emergency and to make sure there wasn't fluid in behind my eye. He assured me there wasnt and he told me that I wasnt an emergency. Yet I went to another doctor and it very much was an emergency and I could've lost my eye/vision. read more

I have a baby in the NICU, and it's been terrible. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lack of communication.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have come in to find paper in my child's ear. Surgical needles and a messy bed. My husband and I have had to advocate hard for our child. The needs of your child have been overlooked overall. They have basically been starving our child, not providing enough nutrition for our child to gain adequately. I feel its a money game. Doctors slow walk things, and then tell you your child is their priority, " we are making your child a priority". Shouldn't that be the case from day one and not after parents have had to advocate?? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Nurses telling you that your baby won't miss you[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Specialist not working with your child and when you complain , they do only the bare minimum . The infusion of Jefferson University is terrible . I had another child there before and I had a better experience . I was transferred to this hospital recently on October 5, 2025 after getting badly injured resulting in a broken arm and breaking my weight-bearing bone in my left knee. I was in this hospital for a total of 5 days & I received exceptional care! Literally, not one negative thing to say! The surgeon I had was dr Jeremy hreha & he was fantastic! [[HIGHLIGHT]]He made sure to thoroughly explain to me how he was going to fix my arm and my leg and he answered all of my questions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Visiting hours are over at 8 PM and one night my visitor didn't get there until 7:30 PM. I was in for a small bowel obstruction for 5 days Never received a diagnosis after Ct scans, Mri with contrast, x-rays. I lefts with the agreement I would get a colonoscopy. Just an update on my mom... Lehigh Valley hospital PCU cedar Crest continued to tell me that I should agree to stop treatment, to put her on hospice and withhold care...it's been 8 months since her discharge. She is so chatty. Spent 5 hours with my daughter today, catching up on life and her upcoming college experience, making jokes, laughing and enjoying each other. My mom is walking without a cane. She is laughing and smiling. I want to tell Dr. Bhatia, Jon Carlos the nurse, Monica the nurse manager, and the other nurse manager that they were WRONG. My mom needed a diuretic, treatment for thrush and some PT: pretty simple stuff for an 86 year old...not hospice and a death sentence. And fortunately she got what she needed from St. Luke's when we transferred her. She went to a formal with my 95 year old dad last week. I can't tell you how many times these people at LVHN told me that "end of life treatment" costs the healthcare system more than any other time in life...I hope this speaks volumes to any senior citizen who walks in to LVHN. read more

My uncle was admitted to the hospital with no true diagnosis. They kept him for over a week, laying in a hospital bed. The one doctor who was caring for him was very unprofessional and at one point I said I was thinking of having him transferred. She called a hospital that I had mentioned and released all my uncle's medical records without my knowledge. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She than called me laughing saying you can't take him to University of Penn.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I wanted too sent him to Penn State health. I said I would just wait till discharge. She made sure he laid in bed so he needed a rehab, [[HIGHLIGHT]]My uncle loved the nurses but as far as the doctor went, he could not stand he.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She said he was demented. So I gave him a little mini mental test. He said "why does everyone keep asking me these dumb questions"? I told him they said he could not pass it and his response was he did not want them bothering him. It was awful there. The doctor was terrible and he wanted out. I went to the e.r last night at 8:30 pm. I had diarrhea since we'd and then I started vomiting blood. They did test and bloodwork. When I get home my paper says blood in my diarrhea. I repeated several times it was in my vomiting not stool. Then another part on my paper it was correct. The doctor was going to give me a Nicoderm patch which I never received but my insurance was charged. The nurse that was taking care of me until around 10pm was terrible. It was not busy. I had to go to the bathroom. He came in and disconnected my iv and quickly left. I was still connected. My fiance disconnected the wires from everything. I went to the bathroom in my socks. When I came back my fiance connected me back to the monitors and connected my iv. In the room next to me it was empty. The nurses and doctors were watching a basketball game very loudly. One nurse opened my door and turned my light on. She plugged in her phone charger as she watched the game also. She left my light on and didn't close my door! What in the world happened! Absolutely the worst healthcare experience imaginable. My brother fought a two month battle with pancreatic cancer. During that time, he was in and out of Lehigh Valley Hospital. Our experience included three days of the family waiting room toilet overflowing with feces, doctors refusing to give any pain medication to my brother as he was dying, nurses who kept thinking he was in for an infection. Once he was able to get the pain meds he needed, visiting doctors would ask him if he was getting anything for pain while the nurse was injecting morphine into the IV! You really can't make this stuff up. It is a total embarrassment to have this much incompetence in the United States. My brother was finally moved out of the circus to hospice where he passed the next day. If you are in need of healthcare, I would recommend an open air clinic in Ethiopia before this hospital. read more

My wife just had a major surgery that didn't go as planned twice. My wife has 27 staples and 2 drainage tubes. When a patient is in extreme pain from complications they don't want to chase nurses and be told brb and an hour later no show. There's more but I couldn't believe the lack of attention. My experience was not what I expected. I recieve care in the LVHN other departments and care has been good but this time, I didn't feel heard or taken care of. I went to the ER with chest pain, my nurse Craig didn't do a great job. He took my blood and as he reported attempted to add a IV ​but blow my vein instead. He takes out the needle didn't apply pressure and I started bleeding alot, when he realized it, then he applied pressure. Craig seem very nonchalant about my care. Another nurse came in, took my blood, 4 tubes to be clear, Craig the previous nurse comes back in, took one of the tubes and give me 4 aspirin did not tell me to chew them, I took them with water for my chest pain, I was never given the other medicine nor did he add my name to the other 3 tubes of my blood that was left sitting there. No doctor, paid attention to my blood pressure which was 168/102 and it went up and down until the sent me home with my pressure not being stable, no other medication but the aspirin and no other reading of my test results. I was very disappointed in the care I recieved. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I may return just to make a compliant about my treatment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I use to work for LVHN but with this treatment, I am glad I left. ​I do believe that the ER at Cedar Crest needs to be overhaul and looked into. read more

I don't know who hired the waitress and the front of house staff at this place but every time I come here, and I am here quite a bit, they NEVER have my reservation ready and I'm waiting there while they try to find my table. AND what kinda of VIP treatment is it when you pay for extra service and our VIP name tags look like something it get from a Chucky Cheese photo both after hours. Now let's get down to the real reason people come here, to be treated like 3rd world citizens and are fed this low quality farm feed, no I wouldn't even feed this food to animals waiting slaughter. I don't even think it is food, someone may just keep mistaking the decorative display meals in the window of a Red Cross building. My father is a Navy Veteran with diabetes, heart failure and kidney failure. He was released without having all medications. The next day his blood sugar was almost 600 and we sat in the ER for over 3 hrs. They put a bracelet on him to let them know he has toto not get lots in his heart and he just sits here. When I tried to talk to someone I wanted like I didn't exist. I had to leave my dad alone to take my son to work and when I came back he was still sitting there and wet himself. read more

on 4-11-24 i called 911 i just had surgery 2 days before this. i was in alot of pain in my lower back. Ambluss came late. no check up on arrival. put me in the van. they had trainhg student. took long routh. i was in serv pain. i got upset. then they took me faster to hospital. i got to ER. i was in so so much pain. They waited until some guy was coeaning the room nice snd slow. while i was jumping around screaming for the to help me. They were very very rude to me told me cam down. i was like im in akot alot pain. u should be helping me. This ER. Not waiteing on some guy cleaning room.This ER was Dead these doctors where bullshitting and laughing aroung. OMG i can not explain the pain i was in. It took them two hours put some medicaion in. i was still in pain. This nurse was like we dont have enogh doctor etc. very starnge. My first time here. OMG i can Not belive this ER. I would love to give THEM 0 startz. please stay away from this hospital. Dont just look at there fancy new hospital. Most time fancy places always suck. I wish I could say that I wasn't a frequent patient at Lehigh Valley Hospital, but I'm undergoing treatment for lymphoma since my diagnosis in January 2015... I've spent plenty of time at the LVH, both inpatient (40 days total) and many outpatient procedures and tests. I feel that I get great care on 7C during my inpatient stays, but as nice as they try to make it, you'd still rather be at home. TV tip: channel #59 (you have to hand-tune it) on an inpatient TV plays newer family-friendly movies 24-hours-a-day. They don't list it on the TV channel listing and if you are "flipping" through the channels, the TV will go right past it. They don't announce what movies are playing, but it's usually animated features during the day & movies like Divergent and Spiderman at night. Learn the inpatient menu from a guy who's spent 40 days in the hospital: Meal times -- the "At Your Request" food services is open from 7 am till 7 pm. The operator will always tell you that it can be up to an hour till your meal arrives in your room. Plan ahead. Also, you can order more than one meal at a time, for specific delivery times, if you like. So in the afternoon you can order that night's dinner for 6 pm delivery *and* the next morning's breakfast for an 8 am delivery. Also, the phone lines get jammed at prime times, so you can end up on hold for an operator. To avoid this, call in your meals for specific times at odd times (order lunch at 10 am, order dinner at 3 or 4 in the afternoon.) Condiments -- it might seem obvious, but there are no condiments in your room. If you don't ask for it, you won't have it (though different operators might think to ask you.) Be specific: if you take 2 cream & 1 sugar in your coffee, tell them, or else you might end up with more sugar than you need and not enough cream. If you want ketchup with your French fries, tell them you want three, because otherwise you'll get a single little packet. Don't forget to ask for salt & pepper packets if you think you'll need them. *** Suggestions: *** Build-your-own-omelettes, pancakes and cold cereal were always winners for me for breakfast. The fruit cup is good too, though it was an ever changing percentage of pineapple, cantaloupe, honeydew and red seedless grapes. Some days you wouldn't get grapes or honeydew at all and it would just be pineapple & cantaloupe. Ask what the Soup of the Day is. It's usually good! :) *** Things I didn't care for: *** The fritatta flatbread sandwich (filled with eggs and vegetables) -- it had too much wrap, as in complete bites of just flatbread. The chicken pot pie -- I just didn't care for it. It wasn't the pie shell style or the Pennsylvania Dutch style with noodles. It was more like baby food in a stew consistency (I have a photo of it in the photos section). Fresh fruit was hit or miss. Many times the bananas were too green to eat for a few days -- I ended up taking them home and eating them later. The apples are Red Delicious but had a very tart greenish flavor. *** Hack the menu: *** For the chicken tenders, they'll offer BBQ sauce or honey mustard. But they also have honey packets (yum!) and I guess you could ask for a Ranch dressing for something different. They have an Italian seasoning packet for the Italian dishes, you just have to ask for it. One is certainly enough. You can build a salad. If you want lettuce with a scoop of tuna or chicken salad, shredded cheddar cheese, tomatoes and hard boiled egg, just tell them that and they'll accommodate your request. They do have bags of pretzels, even though they aren't listed on the menu. Feel free to order snacks with your meals if you like to eat a little throughout the day. Although the yogurt, applesauce, cinnamon roll, fruit cup and canned peaches & pears are only listed on the "Breakfast" section of the menu, they are certainly available with your lunch or dinner. They're easy enough to prepare. I never asked for eggs or pancakes after breakfast hours though... *** Things that are missing from the menu that I wish they had: *** Tortilla chips to go with the Mexican dishes, garlic bread or breadsticks to go with the Italian fare, something BBQ (such as pulled pork, which they could buy in a tub already prepared for the ease of serving), and cheesesteaks. I was also surprised that they really don't have a plain chicken breast or plain mild fish (such as baked cod, haddock or tilapia) for folks that have a delicate palette (they have a basil lemon chicken breast and a crispy baked white fish, but those aren't the same.) Strangely enough, the only meat on the Chef's Salad is turkey, not the traditional turkey & ham. I ordered it three different times during my stay at the hospital, so it's not like it was a fluke the one day. It's safe to say that if you are spending a week or so in the hospital, there is plenty to choose from, but when you spend as much time inpatient as I did, it's easy to get burned out... read more

Most of the oncology-related doctors here are great. HOWEVER, I would appreciate someone from LVHN explain to me how a patient, IN REALITY, benefits from LVHN participating in the "Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance." From my firsthand experience, there is ZERO communication between MSK and LVHN, ZERO mention from LVHN concerning any "world-class care" or clinical trials/latest cancer treatments that have been provided, suggested, or implemented from MSK to the local patient, and ZERO explanation from the LVHN as to how this "alliance" has impacted the treatment of the local patient. In other words, the patient has no choice but to believe that the "Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Alliance" is nothing but a marketing tool used to further the prestige and profits of both MSK and LVHN. read more

Went to visit a friend who is very critical in ICU on a ventilator who was Medavac from Poconos since last Tuesday night, we drove 45 minutes. When we got here was told by reception that with a straight face, no empathy, no emotion that our friend Patricia Reina wasn't there. We all knew she was there. I had called, we all called to find out if there was any progress. Since we knew she was there we all wanted to see her in case she doesn't make it since now it would be the 6 day we just wanted to ensure she was ok. Pay our respects in case anything else should happen. Instead was told someone else will come to talk to us. In about 5 mins. 2 security people, 1-white male about 6 ft tall middle aged man and 1- white female younger about 5'2" late 20's early 30's starting checking the reception computer with the receptionist as well staring at us, staring at computer, again at us. They then proceeded to tell us that she is there but we couldn't see her. You know all this could have been resolved from the get go, without security being called, if reception would have been truthful and said, " I'm sorry at this time we are not allowing visitors due to her condition". We were practically thrown out by your associates. Terrible Customer Service. Of course after driving from the Poconos about 45 minutes we would be upset and want answers. Check your cameras. This happened about 6:54pm, the reception was white with black long hair, bangs, very pretty woman. This woman needs to be placed back in training to call security was ridiculous. She never told her she couldn't have visitors or even atleast acknowledge that our friend of 14 years was there. Shame on this staff. No empathy. We were just all trying to see our friend before they pulled her off the ventilator. If this is your policy I believe it needs to be revised. Shame on all of you! read more

Terrific experience at the children's hospital. Our daughter had a nasty arm break that our local hospital felt was out of their league, so they sent us to Cedar Crest in an ambulance. The level of care was very high. The staff is amazing. This is a special place filled with special caring people. read more

Well it's been almost 5 days now and 2 covid tests since I took my wife in for breathing problems. I have seen her for a whopping 1.5 hrs. since. They locked me out and won't let me in to see her. I showed irritation when they wouldn't let me in to see her the first time so they "restricted" my visitation. (we're not allowed to be emotional) A day and a half for covid test results?? What happened to the 5 to 10 minute tests?? If they are going to separate spouses they need to get the faster tests in. This is getting intolerable. If you want to be with your loved one don't bring them here. They were going to do a test on her lungs and wouldn't let her eat this morning because they need to put her to sleep. The test was supposed to be at 8:30am. The doctor hadn't been in to see her yet at 10:30 so the test got put off til 1:00. She still hasn't eaten. Then they told her the doctor had an emergency and her test would be put off again. With no scheduled time now for the test she wanted to eat and they still wouldn't let her eat or drink. It wasn't until she told them to cancel the test and she was going to sign herself out against medical advise that they finally got the test scheduled for "right away". In short, this hospital has gone downhill since I moved into the area 15 years ago. I'm extremely pissed about being separated from my wife. They don't have the authority to separate what God has joined together just because they are scared. read more

I love this hospital but this review isn't actually for the hospital, it's for the cafeteria. They must of recently switched management because a few weeks ago the quality of the coffee has severely decreased. I order a cup today and it tasted like 3 day old coffee that has been reheated several times. It's not the end of the world but it's certainly is the worst way to begin a 12 hour night shift. on Sunday January 9 2022. I walked into emergency room at around 6pm with difficulty breathing, at check in i advised them that i was an asthma patient and i was having a hard time breathing, due to my oxygen reading 100% they refused to see me quick and give me the medical treatments i needed, as i sat there my chest became tigher where i found myself gasping for air, i also advised that i had tested positive for covid on Dec 31st so it seems that covid had damaged my lings and caused this shortness of breathe. i waited 2 hours and begged a 3rd time to see how much longer before i can be treated they told me 4 more hours possible. i then chose to leave and was seen at St Lukes and in less than 10 mins i was treated and given the treatment i needed and felt so much better. it turned out i needed steroids to open my lungs and an asthma treatment. I strongly believe that Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest dropped the ball there is no reason why someone struggling with breathing would have to wait 6 hours to be seen, i could have went into a shock or passed out if i didnt know how to control my breathing when having these episodes.
