I was diagnosed with Strep lately and my throat was hurting badly. Symptom got worse and I first went to Urgent Care and took prescribed Amoxicillin for 10 days. I initially was feeling better but by day 10, I was reinfected again. My throat was hurting badly on every swallow, especially at night and I wasn't able to sleep at all. Antibiotics wasn't working so I contacted Dr Lei early next morning. She was very quick to respond and scheduled an appointment with her at 9:30am. She prescribed Chinese Herbs medication for me and gave me helpful instructions on diet restrictions. Later in the day, I started to have a low fever and immediately started taking the medicines. I had a surprisingly good sleep that very night as my throat was no longer hurting as much and my fever was quickly gone. I injured my right foot in a climbing accident a little over a year go. My podiatrist diagnosed me with an extensor tendonitis. I started treatment about 6 months ago, complete with a medical boot, some prescription cream etc. But I would lapse back into the pain after I thought it was getting better. To the point that my doctor prescribed me neurontin (nerve medicine) and recommended I check out acupuncture as there is nothing he could do for me anymore, short of a cortisol injection or surgery. I had always been afraid of needles, and thus on principle has always objected to acupuncture. I came to see Dr Lei via a friend's recommendation to treat my lower back pain. I had the low to mid grade lower back pain for years. I've seen PTs, chiropractors and massage therapists over the years. They all have varying level of success in alleviating the pain/discomfort. But the pain always comes back after treatment. Naturally, I was skeptical that acupuncture would actually work. I've tried so many things, so what the heck, I'll give this a try. To be honest, didn't feel any difference after 1st session. Just a sense of temporary pain relieve (like after a chiropractor visit). 2nd visit, a little better than the 1st. Slightly less pain, but the pain came back after 2 days. Not impressed ... 3rd visit, I was very honest and told her things are not working. Then she tried to put the needles in different locations. I have chronic eczema (atopic dermatitis) and dealt with it most of my life. I visited two different acupuncturists over the years - one in Palo Alto during mid 1990s and one in Santa Clara in the late 2000's. Besides the acupuncture treatments, the practitioners prescribed over-the-counter herbal formulas. The treatments were never completely effective, so I stopped after a year or two with each. And I managed by getting steroid shots at my dermatologist when necessary, and modifying diet to prevent build up of heat in my system. I have been going to Dr Lei for last two years for many different issues, digestive, premenopausal symptoms, and joints pain. Her magic little needles have always provides immediate relief of my symptoms. I have seen Dr. Lei several times. The first few visits were to treat my neck ache. I went there three times in a roll. The symptom didn't go away. Instead, it got worse. I never thought about acupuncture as an option for myself and only walked into Dr Lei's Office because my mother wanted to see her for a back issue and I brought her by car. When we got to the practice my mother offered to pay for the sessions with Dr. Lei if I was interested in trying it out. Nothing to loose, so explained that I had wrist and underarm pains ever since I had my babygirl six months ago. Dr Lei asked a lot of questions about exact location and behavior of the pain and told me that she thinks she could solve my issues in 3-4 sessions. After the first treatment I already felt an immediate improvement, even more on the second and third day after the treatment. After the third session Dr Lei said I might not need another session and should give her a call two days later to see how I was doing.
