Love the egg rolls here. Malay (spelling?) has great customer service skills. Fresh ready made meals, rotis, veggies, groceries and more! Our go to local Indian grocery store!

STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT EXPIRED FOOD!!!

STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT EXPIRED FOOD. They have an entire aisle of expired snacks. I bought the snacks (shown in the photo) in June 2022 and I realized once I got home that it was expired in May 2022. Next time when I went to the store I showed the two ladies working register the aisle with expired snacks and asked for my refund, but they refused the refund. They said they will remove expired food from the store. Now it's been two weeks since then and they still have all the expired food there and they are selling it. I have already reported them to California Department of Public Health. So hopefully an official inspection will set them straight.

    Samosa (89c each) - Excellent!

Kamal Spice House has been my go-to Indian grocery store in San Jose for the past couple of years. It is in a large mall shared by many other businesses so even though there is a large parking lot finding a spot close to the shop is always a challenge but manageable as there are a couple of reserved spots in the front. This is your typical Indian grocery store that carries a lot of Indian spices and ready to eat packaged goods. It also has a decent amount of fresh produce and a hot food station with Indian snacks like samosas, pakoda, wada etc. On the weekends it has a chaat corner where you can get freshly prepared chaat's. Their Indian snacks and chaat are great, they are priced also very reasonably so absolutely no complaints (the samosas tend to become a bit stale late in the evening sitting under the lamp but that is understandable). The grocery section is not on the same level as the chaat section. Lately I've observed that they are not as well stocked as before and that their prices have inched up. Recently I found India Mart another Indian store closer to where I live which is much better stocked so I've started shopping there for my Indian groceries and limit my shopping at Kamal to the chaat section. The chaat section is good but when combined with the average grocery store you end up with an overall above average grade for this place.

I love going here for my samosa and mango lassi fix. I would never leave the store without a brown bag of their hot samosas and either a half liter of mango lassi from their freezer isle. The place is organized and majntained clean. They also got snacks that are spicy good and biscuits. Cadbury Chocolates from the UK. They also have fresh veggies sold in the side and of course multitudes of spices for your indian or curry cravings. So far I enjoy going here and be a familiar customer for this store.

I have been coming here for at least 5 years even at their prior location further down on Capitol and Berryessa. It's nice to have an Indian market on the Eastside. They carry organic spices, grains and different flours. It's wonderful and now they have a deli. You can order ahead if you are having a party.

I haven't been to many Indian markets but this one pretty much blew my mind away yesterday. For one I was craving Indian because chicken tikka masala w/ basmati rice was cooked on Food Network's Guy's Big Bite in the morning and I had my heart set on chicken curry (the healthy version) so I can get rid of my lettuce [lettuce chicken curry wraps or chicken curry salad]. The place is located at North Capitol and Berryessa, next to DD's Discount. It's the same plaza w/ Round Table Pizza and McDonald's which I almost went to for dinner to order the "McGangBang" but I refrained and went to Lee's Sandwiches instead. Not a huge market but I see an array of naan, parathas, chapatis, and Indian sweets right when you walk in. RTE (ready to eat) meals are available (make sure you look at the displays for sales like buy 2 get 1 free and so forth). I almost got the paneer tikka masala from the brand Gits but I held out because of the fat content. This would be good for someone on the ago and don't mind the calories, fat, and carbs! I was in the spices aisle for a very long time.. cardamom, turmeric, curry, coriander, fenugreek, saffron were among the ones I saw. I got the hot curry powder for my chicken thighs that I got at Walmart for $5! Do you need dosa mix? They've got them! I'll try making that at home sometime. As I was checking out, I noticed samosas and its price - under a buck. I got 2 potatoes and a mixed veggie and to my surprise, the samosas were hot and not at all soggy or felt as if they were there for hours on end in the display case. I ate all 3 of them as I pulled out of my parking spot to the next plaza over for Lee's Sandwiches. I inhale my food and although I'm not proud of it, I'm not ashamed of it either; keeping in mind that I worked out and burned over 800 calories just earlier. The samosas were crunchy and fulfillingly savory in the middle.. I wish they wanted to get rid of it because I would pay $5 to haul what's left of it... if you want samosas this is THE place! I just baked my chicken this morning. I used nonfat Greek yogurt instead of coconut milk to cut down on calories and fat. I used the curry powder and cumin so that is what is waiting for me after my workout after work. Woo-hoo! I'll surely be back.

Extremely tasty and fresh with just the right amount of spices. I'm not a Indian food expert but this was really good. My second time going. Check out their fried snacks and also they have a fridge full of in house made foods ready to go. Really yummy! With a homemade taste.

We've been coming here for a few months. They have quite a selection of spices and the ingredients they sell must be top notch because when my wife's cooks with them the meals are amazing! There is fresh produce as well as a frozen food section, but we have yet to try any of that. The employees are friendly and helpful. The store has been here a while. It is clean and well maintained. So if you're looking for some great spices and food stop in.

Volunteered through my company at Veggielution!…read more The farm box packing event started right on time at 9:30am. I appreciated how Veggielution has posted videos showing how and where to enter the property. Staff explained the instructions thoroughly and handed out gloves. It was a hot day so I was thankful that the event was under a shed and the food packing itself was straightforward and not very strenuous. We filled the boxes with fruits and vegetables assembly line style and then stacked them all up. With our big group, we finished packing 725 produce boxes in about 90 minutes. Some of us also helped remove weeds around the shed using hands + shovels. At the end, one of the employees gave us a guided tour of the farm which was super fun! He talked about the different events they host - on Saturdays there is a Farmer's Market and youth garden for little kids. The farm is huge, so it was cool to look around and learn about their farming practices. Also learned that they offer low-cost fruits and vegetables to the community! Staff was very friendly and efficient! They provided us with all the necessary tools. There were some leftover fruits and vegetables, and volunteers were allowed to take them home which was super nice! Overall, I would definitely volunteer at Veggielution again. Their website is up to date with helpful information which makes the whole volunteer process very easy to navigate. They also host interesting community events that I would recommend checking out!
