Quirky little winery. We were serviced by a nice guy called Connor who gave funny descriptions of each of the wines we tasted. I was coming for the Diamond but heard they were out. The Cab franc was the best one objectively and the pink flamingo bubbly was good too. Whites not too memorable. I was surprised they added some sugar to some of their wines. My wife works at a local hospital here in the St. Louis area and Dr. Leidenfrost is a renowned heart surgeon there, When we found that his family has a winery close to where we were vacationing, we had to go. It is a beautiful location with a friendly staff that helped us with which of their wines aligned with our tastes. Table service for the tastings and a selection of wine tasting friendly snacks make this a great place to enjoy an afternoon. We were short on time and didn't have the opportunity to sit outside and enjoy a bottle, but we did find a couple that we enjoyed and brought them back to our rental to enjoy later. read more

I came here for a winter getaway with some friends. We were really impressed with the wines and the beautiful view. Connor, who served us our wine, is a true asset to this vineyard. He is extremely knowledgeable about the wines, and was able to handle multiple guests who came in at different times and helped each of us pick the wines that we really enjoyed and fit our pallet. I can't drink but the vibes here are fab. I visited Leidenfrost with a few folks. We sat at the bar inside and had a great time. The snacks we bought were mostly local (yay!) and perfectly paired with the wines. The menu shows which snacks will taste best which added to the fun. The staff was phenomenal. They were really chill, down to earth, and fun. When they described the wines and flavorings, they didn't use complicated words- they made it relatable and often spoke about their own personal experiences. We felt like their best friends. This is the kind of place that makes you feel like you're home. Definitely worth the trip. read more

Worth skipping. The wine is awful. The flamingo was the worst. The dry wine was rather sweet. It was not smooth at all. The staff were nice but a little over the top. At times it felt like we were thrust into a play. I prefer a conversational feel with the serving staff, but that was lacking. It was clearly scripted, and felt forced. The only saving grace is how kind they were to the older local gentleman who comes in regularly and had his own bottle. That was a nice community touch. read more

Great service and great mix of reds and whites. This is a small place, with a focus on quality. We especially liked their Gewurztraminer, Pinot Noir, and white port. During Covid: They take reservations online, though they're not required. There are two tasting rooms for everyone to spread out. Restrictions are followed and everything was clean. My favorite Finger Lakes winery. Spectacular views from the deck and fantastic wines which occasionally stray just a bit from the norms that I've come to expect from NY wines... which is a good thing. The Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the few NY reds that I really love. I'm also not really a Chardonnay person but theirs is really excellent. Their people make it extra special with a real knowledge and genuine enthusiasm for their wine. Connor did a great job with our tasting today. The bigger wineries have fun tasting experiences but this small, family winery is special... Because they make you feel like part of the family. read more

Comparing to the wineries next door, Leidenfrost has Very friendly staffs and very generous portion for wine tasting. They also have mimosa and other cocktails. For $3 you could taste almost half glass of 6 wines ( including some slightly more expensive port wine. ) and of course, you could have as manu peanuts as you want. I loved visiting Leidenfrost!! I was just in Napa a few weeks ago and tastings ran $30-50 in almost every winery I looked at...so learning that tastings here were $3 for 6 pours was GREAT. The staff were super friendly (maybe it's because they were drinking with us..) but they honestly made genuine efforts to walk us through the different types of wines at Leidenfrost, made sure that we never spent too long without attention, and were really helpful in picking out wines that we liked, and there was never any pressure to buy anything. The tasting fee is waived if you buy bottles- buy 6 and get the 7th free or buy 12 to get 25% off. The winery itself has a beautiful view of Seneca Lake, and a nice deck out back for anyone in your group not tasting (though people who aren't tasting can get soda/water for free too!) and this place is dog friendly!!! Like forreal though- the staff were elated to see my family's dog walk in, and offered her treats and water and really loved her. Good wines, awesome staff, nice views, great winery!! read more

The tasting experience was awesome! We are from the Bay Area CA so are used to expensive, rushed, packed tastings in Napa and Sonoma. Not here though. We were the only folks the entire time (it was like noon on a weekday just before Thanksgiving). Our host, Joe, was really knowledgeable and helpful, yet wasn't intrusive. The wines surprised us in how much we liked most and it was a nice wide variety. I think the German white was our favorite . We had just gotten engaged so he even took photos of my partner and I. The barn type building was nice and the water views were fabulous. The snacks were delicious and a huge amount for the cost (maybe we are used to CA pricing idk). And the daughter of the artist they were featuring came in and we had a lovely chat. Just a stellar way to spend a holiday day. Looking forward to another visit when we move to the area. read more

Stopped in here for a tasting while we were exploring Walkens Glenn. The space itself is actually quite small, and there is no seating indoors. They have quite a few wanting to offer as well as soft drink some water. There are peanuts out on the bar so please be cautious if you have an allergy. I can't say that I really enjoyed the wine, even though I wanted to. It all had a flavor that I really just wasn't fond of. One of the sparklings was OK, but nothing to write home about. I actually switched to soda while we were there because I wasn't enjoying the wine. The location and views are beautiful, and if their style is up your alley it's a winning spot to enjoy a glass. How this is one of the often-overlooked wineries is beyond me. My preferences lean more towards dry/big reds, and they do NOT disappoint, but what impresses as well is that the whites are very drinkable too! The product is of course the main reason to go on "the trail", but the staff can make it or break it.. Some wineries have good wines but perpetuate the "nose in the air" stereotype, making me not want to return.. Some wineries have very few that I enjoy, but their atmosphere and people make you want to return, but you end up not enjoying the wine. WHY NOT BOTH? Liz and everyone there combine a friendly, warm atmosphere with the aforementioned great vino, and they're super dog friendly! Combine that attitude with their knowledge, and you'll end up with a great tasting experience. The cherry on top of all of this is.. The location! They're lakeside, and have a GREAT view to enjoy as you sip! All of that is why I stop there each and every time I'm in the area. read more
