After enduring a few quacks who told me I had these cavities and had to have this done and one who flat out scared me (he said, while he was drilling my tooth, something like "Gee, I hope I don't hit a nerve"--he wasn't joking, and I was shaking so bad I thought he would), I made an appointment with Dr. Wulff. She is kind, gentle, honest, informative, and trustworthy. She reassured me that my teeth and gums were in good shape, which I'd suspected all along. The staff are friendly and efficient. Yes they are busy when it comes to routine cleaning, all dental offices are. But when my husband had some tooth pain and needed to be seen ASAP, they worked him into the schedule, and took care of getting him fixed up quickly. About a month later I had a tooth that I had 2 failed root canals on from California start giving me all sorts of trouble. The team fit me in, assessed the situation, and helped me develop a treatment plan. I later developed dry socket (I am an active person and sure learned a lesson here), and was in a lot of pain. They made sure to help me through it, worked me in last minute when needed, and checked in on me frequently. I received personal texts and calls from each of the dentists to make sure I had what I needed and was healing well. You don't get that service anywhere anymore!! Now when it comes to cost, you will be hard pressed to find a dentist that doesn't require a large portion of it up front if you are paying out of pocket. But like all dental offices you have the option of care credit or other ways to finance it out to make arrangements. This is a business at the end of the day, and they have to pay their employees so they can support their families. I can tell you the office is always clean, the staff is beyond friendly and welcoming, and the dentists are down to earth and caring. You can't ask for much more.

We went to Eileen R. Raywood, DDS, PC in Muncie, IN to get my daughter's braces. They had a few…read moreoptions for paying. We decided to go with paying all of it up front as it was going to be a two year process and I didn't have job security. That way if anything unfortunate happened the braces would be taken care of. They gave us an estimate of the total cost, my portion and the insurance's. However, I thought it stopped being an estimate when we payed them and they said that was all we owed. I was under the impression that the insurance had paid its share and the balance was covered. So six months later when I did lose my job it was a surprise to receive a bill from Raywood. Called to find out why and they explained that the insurance never pays it all upfront (not sure, other high cost long term services they have) and that I should have known that Raywood isn't going to eat the cost. I didn't know there was cost left to eat! Turns out I owe them several hundred more, some what undermining the reason for paying upfront. To be clear, I am mad about their handling of the billing, their explanation of how things would be billed and their customer service for the unexpected bill. As far as their orthodontic service they have been good. They could have explained how the insurance would pay out or at least have something in the paperwork about it. After all two years is a long time to think nothing is going to go wrong.

I asked colleagues for an alternative; switching to the Wheeler Family Dentistry was one of the smartest decisions I've made since I moved to Muncie. I once dreaded going to the dentist because I had years worth of orthodontia when I attended elementary school, and most of it hurt, although the pain is probably worse in my memory than it actually was in reality. Today I received a cleaning, a polishing and a flossing, all while listening to classic rock on the PA system. The staff at Wheeler Family Dentistry is professional and thorough, and they make every effort to see to the patient's comfort. As an added plus, they don't seem to mind when I joke around. I believe my dental care has been passed down a generation, from father (Dan) to daughter (Logan), but the quality of the work remains tops. I will continue using WFD as long as they'll have me.
